      hallucinations while awake

if you have personal experiences with hallucinations put it here.
after what ive seen i must know if anyone else deals with them.

two months ago i was alone in my apartment ready to go to sleep and heard my mother call my name from the bathroom, i went there and it was empty, strange thing was the doors were locked and i have no windows.

this morning i looked in the mirror and saw an apparition behind me just staring at me and i turned around slowly in fear and nobody was there.

three years ago recently after waking up i had believed i was an african american man, i looked in the mirror and wondered what the hell happened to my skin, it was until 10 minutes i became aware i am not african american.. i seriously feel like going to a mental asylum

      Those are all very interesting..

i have had many. a few i will share..

When i was about 10, i was staying with my dad for the
weekend, with my sibling, we were swimming, and
jumped in the water, held my breathe, and stayed under for a
moment, gently hit the bottom, then i hear my dad, in the
      clearest voice say my name..

I leaped out of the water, looking for him,
he was not there... my brother and sister were playing at the other
end of the pool... i went back down to listen again, maybe i would
hear that voice again... but i never did..

More recent ones, are kinda crazy, in between the sleep and awake state,
a year ago, i woke up from an intense dream, my buzzer went off,
and i sat up and saw my closet was half open ajar, and inside my closet
was the bog i had visited in my dream, i hear the sounds of the water,
the slight breeze coming through my closet, and i smelt the thick, overwhelming
deep-green moss.. I was too scared to move, and then blinked and it
      was gone the next second..

another time, about in 2006 or so, i am an artist, and i often see character and
people in my dreams, and i document them.. and this one time, a beautful
creature, woman, i don't know, entered my room at night, out of thin air,
and slowly spinned around, nude, and then then once her back was turned to me
in a modest way, i picked up my sketch book and drew her...
after i finished coloring her in, she told me to sleep, and then i collapsed to wake up
the next morning to find the finished drawing besides me where
      i had left it...

these are the many stories i have.... in my understanding they are hallucinations,
but lately i have come to believe they are much more.

I believe i was fully awake, but that is certianly when it gets tricky,
for we all know how realistic dreams can feel, so i will not deny the
possibilty, it would be foolish of me, but i will stick to my confidence
that I was awake for these events, there are too many for them not to
      be really.

damn wasn't this a forum for believers? If you don't believe in those than don't just come here and say it was drugs dreams or any other stuffs like that.

back to topic: You ppl had some Really freaky experiences. The one that would scare me the most would be the one with the mirror where you saw someone behind you. I would have a heart attack.

When i was little I had one hallucination. I was in my bed and i saw cockroaches
everywhere around me. It was freaky. I turn on my flash lamp and it was all gone. Not so freaky as your experiences but that's all i can remember.

I was lying, awake, my pillow fell off my bed , i got up to grab it and something/someone was holding it. . .turned on my light and nothing was there.
best explaination: hypnogigic hallucinations. ..like sleeparalysys, minus the paralysis. . .i stress that there is never a point (at least that i can tell) where if im sleeping, i wake up. . .it feels like im awake throughout the entire episode. . .

another one: i woke up and a little kid was standing next to my bed staring at me. . .he was black and white. . .

its not uncommon for me to wake up covered in bugs/spiders/whatnot. ..i freak out, stare at my bed until im positive there are no bugs actually there. . .then go back to sleep. . .

OBE's, hallucinations, spirits, ghosts, dunno. . .but for those who are skeptic, no drugs were used! haha.
but yeah dude, you aren't alone. . .even though your experiences are a bit more extreme.. .

I was laying on my bed and as i blink my room turns into a COD4 map, without the wind and rain and stuff. I was not asleep, as i got up from my bed and rubbed my eyes and it was still there, it was really vivid, and lasted 10 or so seconds.

Childhood hypnopompic hallucinations are what got me into lucid dreaming in the first place. The line between asleep and awake is easily blurred. I've had my dreams continue for minutes after I wake up. Very freaky what our minds are capable of.

There were a couple years through college where I would miss several nights of sleep in a row. If you've ever experienced extreme sleep deprivation, you know how bad the hallucinations can get. Waking dreams, things seen out of the corner of your eye, bizarre body distortions. Its nuts what your mind can do to you.

yup, attempts at SP usually yield these wonderful experiences for me. every night almost becomes an adventure of sorts. . .

      - Woke up screaming, seen and heard dark, grotesque creatures all around me. They didn't leave me alone for a good hour.

      - One time at my old job, I'm driving a forklift and I couldn't sworn a seen a pallet full of product lunge out in front of me and I pulled back on the deadman (emerg brake) and nothing was there.

      - One time, having a smoke, I saw someone walk out from behind my neighbours tree but on the road and when they walked behind the telephone post they disappeared. I'd say this whole times was no more than 4 seconds.

I have seen things similar to what you are describing. Most of the time it is when I first wake up; I'll see a person who was just in my dream standing in my room, or I think I'm holding something.

A few times though, it was during the middle of the day. I once saw this little dog right at my feet, but after about 2 seconds it vanished. Another time I saw this tree in our front yard (it was twilight, so the lighting wasn't very good) and I was trying to look around it to see something. Suddenly it just vanished, and really creeped me out.

But as Robot_Butler was saying, it's probably a side effect of sleep deprivation or stress.

I remember I had a coke can on my tv it sprouted legs and arms.. and looked all evil. I could only see its silhouette. I was so scared I just watched it for about 20mins shocked. I think I turned the light on and just stared at the can for a while. When the light came on it was normal.

Also I used to take a lot of drugs :/ (which I dont anymore) and I ended up having Amphetamine psychosis. I was insane and thought I had 2brains. I remember seeing a rat run in my room.. it was so real. It sat there washing its face with its hands. I screamed and my sister came in and it vanished.

I would see spiders all over my bed and body. That was grim.

I have see some amazing stuff on Magic Mushrooms and acid. But thats a different story. And far too much for me to even begin to explain.
The worst thing I saw was blood squirting from my at the time boyfriend... then his face morphed into a skull. I have never screamed so hard in my whole life. ha

I already posted this on another thread but i think this one is more apropriate for this one so here it goes:

10 years ago my uncle died , after the funeral we slept in the house where he lived , before going to sleep i heard a sound like a bouncing steel ball (for example a ball from a ball bearing) i asked my sister if she could hear it too , and she heard it too , i didn't give it much attention , i just went to sleep . 5 years later my grandfather died , and again after the funeral we slept in the house he used to live in and i heard the same sound again , i asked my sister again if she could hear it and she heard it too , this time i was so freaked out that i couldn't sleep anymore , i spent the night searching for that sound but no matter where i searched i couldn't find the reason for that sound . Extremely eerie and strange. I guess it couldn't been my imagination or an LD beacause i was awake , and the fact that my sister heard it too made it even difficult to figure out what it was.

A bit off topic but i didn't know where to post this :

After seeing this vid http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...29019446&hl=en (the last 4-5 minutes are stupid but the rest of the vid is fascinating) i really started to think about what if our lives are just dreams and when we die we just wake up to the "real" world.

The only one that I really remember and hang on to happened to me a few years ago.

It was late at night, probably around 1 or 2 in the morning. I was laying in bed and watching TV. I was pretty tired so I was drifting in and out of sleep. I remembered closing my eyes for a brief moment and then when I opened them the TV was off, my ceiling fan was off...but there was still a dim light because I could make out three human shaped figures...They looked just like 3-D shadows (best way I could describe it). The first one was average male hieght and he said, "She should come with us." in a young man's voice. The second one (standing in the middle of the three) was the shortest and said, "Yes, we should wake her up." in a young woman's voice, very cheery and happy. Then the third one who was tallest said "No, let her sleep." in an old man's voice. After that I sat up and looked around but as I sat up everything suddenly was back to normal...My tv was on, my ceiling fan back on, normal lighting from the tv in the dark...

I posted this here because I don't think it was a dream...I KNOW I was awake and I've never really figured out what any of it means or what it actually was or if maybe I'm just a little on the crazy side...Hopefully I'm not crazy.

ohhh yeah, there are months at a time when i honestly cannot tell the difference between a dream and reality. i don't even want to go into a dream i had after i used a ouija board for the first time. let me tell you, after you believe that you realeased a spirit out of a board your dreams will get messed up!

that was my first horrifying sleep paralysis experience that i hope to Godi never have to go through again. it was like it took DAYS to finish.. i seriously fell in and out of sleep through the night & all next morning watching my dorm-mate mess around on her computer on her bed while i am paralysed is FREAKY! especially at 11 am. to this day i don't know if it was sleep paralysis or something else.. i had never heard of sleep paralysis until today.

yes! I've had them. First a few times when my cat died. I would see her in the corner of my eye jumping behind a couch.. stuff like that.

Then later nothing that I can remember off until I ate shrooms. They were good, it was my third time and first time I actually saw stuff. I've seen like this infrared raster, waving and forming into images, pretty cool. I really love magic mushrooms because they show you the illusion of reality, and this is not just on the visual plane..

Anyway, when sober, and im meditating, completely relaxed, and I think really hard about that moment, I see the hallucinations back! Colors are changing, red dots are reappearing that change into a raster.. amazing. I need to be in this sort of trance, if I snap out of it, it all dissapears. It's like when you're doing a WILD, you gotta gaze into your dream... its very similar

I had one a few days ago where a thunder boom woke me up, but i couldnt move. I saw some ghostly hands come out of my chest and pushing up a body as if your getting up from bed. I look at its face and it was me! It gets out of my bed and stretches. it looks at me, smiles, then walks through my door. Freaky. Oh, its more scary cuz im writing this at 12:42 am...

this past semester I saw an iguana coming toward me at the dorm...I freaked, and let a few explitives fly. I looked back and it was gone...my roomate wanted to throw me into an asylum...

I often hear (not just the "hearing" like a distant idea, but an actual audible hearing) music playing, usually things I recognize. I listen to music pretty much constantly though...that might be the reason for this. But I hear it even when I don't have anything playing, sometimes.

and once...when I was sleep deprived...I kept seeing spiders that weren't there

      Dreaming or waking??

When I was quite young I would get scared and go to my parents room to sleep. I would wake up?? later in the night and see people waking around the room. They would sometimes come up to me and touch me lightly on the leg (my covers would be up over my head by this time) or arm. It really scared me. I wish that I had had some one to talk to about it then to deal with the fear and allow myself to talk to these spirits.
