Unfortunately I didn't know where to go from there, and felt my dream de-stabilize like whenever I put too much effort into something - I quickly gave up from there and tried to do other things.

Some of the stories I've read in this thread make me want to try to contact at least one of my friends again - or anyone who could prove to me it happened - the next time I become lucid. Sometimes in lucid dreams I feel so powerful I can do anything... most other times I lose confidence too quickly doing the simplest things...
If we were to consult the literature for clues about this a salient feature would emerge; dream sharing and conscious manipulation of someone elses dream is very hard to do, hence thats why the masters are visiting the disciples and not the other way around. I'm sure its possible for anyone but probably takes something more advanced than the finger wiggle technique.

I always hesitate to start labeling Tibetan monks as those magic men up in the mountains because there are plenty of people who do the exact same things. Once the witch traveling on her broom stick is understood to be an LD or and OBE it all makes much more sense.

The idea of a place independent of the dreamer... once we move past the mainstream of literary ideas and get into the folklore of any people things start getting quite strange, places emerge again and again. A good question is if there is a universal place for all people, perhaps not. A Dayak from Borneo probably couldn't go to the western soul library, but he would have other places to go. Yet if places couldn't remain stable beyond a single dreamer then why do places emerge again and again? Why are creatures like dragons so popular when no one has ever seen one,... at least with their eyes open.

It won't stop be trying out of willful ignorance anyway!

Just re-read what you wrote here and i find your take really interesting. I'm always trying to learn something from my dreams whether they are lucid or not. I never really thought about the intense emotions being a conscious "weak-spot" so to speak. Maybe doing reality checks in waking life when we're feeling emotional might be a good idea? It would be a good way to stop and reflect on our emotional state as well. To see it in the moment, to try and see it just as it is.

Just thought i'd mention i'm reading "The Conscious Universe" by Dean Radin one of the dudes who worked on what the bleep. Its very boring to read but about a very interesting subject matter. Its basically a bunch of scientific evidence supporting psi based on experiments.

It doesn't have anything on people connecting with each other within dreams but there is definately strong evidence that a waking person can effect the dreams of someone who is sleeping by focusing on something while the person is in the REM state. Really fascinating stuff.

I know that dream sharing is possible I Tried it for a few months with someone and the results were astounding. no real dreamshares but we could send messages/ images.

The way to do this is first: find someone you have great rapport with, this is key. You both must have similar energy about you. You must both be willing to try. You must both understand this can't be accomplished in one day or one month. This really takes effort.

When you have both agreed on this task start by giving a statement of intent. you tell eachother "You have my permission to dream with me." next task is to pick a specific night which you shall try this (the dream synchronicities may not happen on the very day but this is more to focus on a specific time to channel your intent to one another.) Next pick a place to meet, A beach, a mountain. Also on the night you pick try going to sleep at the same hour. Try to sleep facing a specific direction you both have chosen, or both try to fall asleep on your left side or right side.

Over the next few weeks keep detailed dream journal. both people should compare them regularly. Identify things like dream signs, dreams with a feeling of the person in it and what does it say. You should begin to notice uncanny similarities. you may also dream things about the person that you don't yet know. for instance with one woman i had a dream where i was looking at pictures of her in a hospital tending to a terminally ill patient. I told her the dream the next day and i was shocked (and she was too) when she told me she was a nurse working in a hospital. There was no way i could have known that since i live in a different country.

main thing is :keep persistent at it.

      Really?
Me and my two closest friends usually just say "hey wanna try and meet up with me in your dreams again tonight?" and we pick a place to meet (usually we pick a place we both know in reality) and then that night we concentrate on the image of the place we picked, and the next day we'll compare dreams and usually, not always, but usually, we will have seen/interacted with eachother in the same way in both our dreams and done the same things, like if one of us dreams that they were suddenly in a different dream- like they get disconnected and switch dreams- the other remembers dreaming of them either walking away or being taken away by someone and disappearing.
The places we choose to meet usually aren't the places we end up meeting tho XD
But we only do it two ppl at a time now...me and my one close friend tried it with this girl we know who was INSISTANT that she get in on it, and from the night we tried to meet with her on I had horrible nightmares for three weeks straight.
Then I found out that that girl doesn't like me very much...she gets all offensive around me. o.O

My friends and my shared dreams obviously aren't as enlightening as yours though, so your method is obviously much more useful.
they're always just filled with us doing nonsensical things and running around...
Maybe my friends and I should try sharing messages?
Sounds like a good idea. :]

I do reality checks every twenty minutes at school every about hour and a half or less outside of school. I do it not because I doubt reality but because I want it to become so natural to question whether or not I'm dreaming that I naturally do it in my dreams. I use a die usually cause I think it's cool.

I've never dreams hared but wouldn't be against trying it sometime. It would probably be with someone I know in reality, though.
