I have many "zombie" lucid dreams too, except that they're trying to touch me instead of eat me. I had one on Wednesday night that I posted to my dreaming group, in fact.

And I didn't learn what I know "in a dream." I started learning it almost exactly 10 years ago, so it's taken a long time and many, many LDs. I've also had some helpful input from my group members.

You might think that you "control your dreams," but you don't. The things in your dreams might decide to let you "control" them, but they do what they want to. You CAN make them do certain things sometimes that they would rather not do, but you have to know how to do that.

Anyone who doubts this should try to "control" the Dream Character "Cynthia Gonzalez."

      >>I never got around to attempting Arne's LD task, but I have gotten pretty good at dream control, and my DCs are little more than puppets.<<

There's no time limit. The task won't expire. You can attempt it any time.

Why can't we just keep our beliefs to ourselves and NOT argue about them? I believe dreams are simply hallucinations during sleep, as is the common conception. And so are DC's.

I told you how to do it. I also told you that one member here has already carried out the task and that another one has made a good start on it.

Amd Timothy, do you ever do anything here besides troll? For example, do you ever discuss your experiences in lucid dreaming?

Srsly. I'm very well aware of arne's ulterior motive of recruiting people, but if there is an actual debate that can come of this thread, wherein people actually express their beliefs on the subject (because, believe it or not, there are people here who do agree with him), then he's more than welcome to do so - until any future adverse behavior (as there has been in the past) gets him banned.

At the same time, we expect everyone else who wants to participate in the discussion to do so without trolling.

Trolling, often, isn't "being serious." But, let me just quote the rules so you can understand, more, where I'm coming from:

      • Do not jump right in the middle of threads when you have absolutely nothing to contribute. Simply denouncing one's idea and adding nothing more accomplishes nothing.
      • Do yourself a favour and STAY OUT of threads where you know you will not be able to control yourself: for example, if you believe very strongly in God, then for crying out loud stay out of a thread that says "Atheists only." Also, creators of threads should be able to limit a discussion to a particular audience (which should be stated in the title); respect that.
If it's too much to ask for members to contribute with some sort of substance, rather than what basically amounts to "OMGZ UR SOO STOOPID! LULZ!" then they don't need to post - least of all in the respective thread.

I take your point. Although I have to say, Arne doesn't seem particularly open to the possibility that he's wrong or misguided.

Its very similar to the religious issue of "respecting" peoples "faith", although the "respect" seems to be de-facto and expected rather than earned in any way. I note that Arne has not yet attempted to provide any real evidence to support his vague assertions. That, to me, would be a way to earn some respect. In point of fact Arne has "rebuked" some fairly simple observations with
fairly outlandish (if convenient from his perspective) claims. Again, does this entitle Arne to respect?

Furthermore, what if some of us believe that seeking to encourage false belief in people who may be too succeptible to such encouragement due to mental health issues, youth or new-ages leanings. And what if humour (rather than ridicule) is a valid means of demonstrating the same?

Not all "faith" is benign nor healthy.

In any event, Arne can earn some respect if he clearly lays out his evidence and/or beliefs for all to see.
Until he does, there is arguably a strong possibility that Arne may well be trolling us all.

In my experience it isn't the case. In my experience most of atheists I know are like most of the Christians I know, they rarely talk about religion. Richard Dawkins and his followers give us a bad name...

Yes. Dream characters are figments of our imaginations.
You do realize that Richard Dawkins uses the same logical fallacies that he attacks Christians of using?

For those of you that say you can't disprove God so you should be agnostic etc, etc.... We can't disprove any concept without total knowledge. I can't disprove God, mermaids, the flying spaghetti monster (I am not trying to insult anyone that believes in God, I am sorry in advance) but I see no evidence for them so I don't believe in them.

Just do the task and you'll learn the facts. That's all there is to it. You'll notice that the two people who have done the task aren't carping at me or accusing me of anything. Only the people who haven't been able are doing that. If you can't do the task, then why are you even posting in a form that's devoted to lucid dreaming, let alone criticizing the person who gave you the task?

I'd like to respectfully ask what is this task and where can I find the instructions? I'm all for exploring the sublime weirdness that fills dreams. Thank you.

The task is to call out as loudly as you can in an LD, "Cynthia Gonzalez, what is Minarez?"

      Minarez is pronounced min-ARE-ez.

And PM the results to me.

That's all there is to it.

Okay, so assuming I do this 'task', and I PM you the result... how do I know you're not just bluffing and going 'Yeah, that's right! You got the right answer' (no matter what I say)
Do we get to speak to others and see their exact answers as well, to compare?
Tips For Newbies | What to do in an LD

Unless otherwise stated, views expressed in this post are not necessarily representative of the official Dream Views stance. Hell, it's probably not even representative of me.

Well... I successfully completed the task after substantial effort memorising and rehearsing and waiting to get lucid to do it. I have to say I didn't get much out of it and no I didn't find out what result others got. As for my personal result... it couldn't have been more boring lol

Good luck to anyone with plenty of spare lucid time who wants to partake! I'm moving on to my next goal which is to alter my environment completely by spinning
