perhaps this is a good opportunity to do a MILD visualization before you go to sleep where you imagine you're making contact. etc.

i see several deceased people in my dreams. i am learning to reality check when i think of them during the day... (or think of them so i can do a RC).

Maybe when lucid call out for him or expect to see him when you open a door etc.

Once while Lucid this guy interrupted my activities by getting in my face and talking a bunch of mumbo jumbo.It was really strange.I thought about it for a week or so,then I described him to my wife to see if she knew anyone who fit his characteristics.She listened,then pulled out an old photo of this guy! He was a deceased friend of hers whom I had never seen or heard of before! (I swear this is true,I almost shat my pants!)
So,I know through personal proof that this is possible.The LD space can be a shared space. Good luck.

I have been contacted by family who has passed away.

I have never been lucid in these dreams, but I am fully aware that the person is dead.

It has happened to me twice, both times the day after the family member had passed away. And we usually talk for a bit, and then say goodbye... for good.

Personally, I don't agree that you are being "contacted" by the dead. I think you are simply thinking about them in your subconsciousness while sleeping, so they appear, and you end up talking to them or whatever. In regards to seeing people you have never met: I also strongly believe in energies. Everyone gives off an energy that reflects their personality and perhaps their thoughts. If you are open to these energies, which you might be more receptive to while dreaming, then you might dream of something/someone unknown to you, but known by an energy that you are receiving. It's all just speculation.

In death the astral and dreaming bodies are freed from the constrictions of our physical bodies.

The dead enter dreams often to pass messages onto loved ones. Some are "rookies" At doing this. Others have been doing it for quite some time. One of my Dream guides Asuka, Has been dead over a century. She's both a dream guide and lover. The other night I met a couple people I knew had died years ago.

The dead can serve as friends, dream guides, or dream lovers. Many work in dreams to pay off a karmic debt so that they can incarnate again.

Well I had another dream about my friend who had passed. He really wanted me to notice him; he dyed his hair green. I still did not make a clear connection that he had passed on in my dream.

It's tough. Some of the folks here seem to go Lucid like it's flipping a switch, but I'll attest for myself it's difficult. Knowing he's a soul while you are dreaming may not be as important as taking the message he's trying to give you and waking up remembering it.

Atleast your freind sounds pretty patient.

My uncle was always a rather,,,, impatient man. A couple of months after he passed he showed up in my dream, doing all sorts of things so as to make me aware I was dreaming. I wasn't catching on.

So, he upped the ante a bit. He turned into a giant Easter Island head, sprouted arms and legs, picked me up, and at this point, I knew I was dreaming, was lucid, and still couldn't get outta those giant stone hands of his.

I continued to struggle, and I began to panic, he increased my unease by bringing me close to his giant stone Easter Island face. He told me to remember to tell his spouse and my mother that he was okay now, and not to worry about him anymore he told me to repeat what he had said, I did.

I told my mom and his spouse what he said. That was for dang sure, I don't particularly wanna be visited by my uncle again.

I just had another dream about my friend who had passed away. This time I knew he had already passed, and he told me that his wife (she is still alive) has breast cancer. I called her brother and told him about my dream.
