      Dreams about the future

I have had dejavu dreams in the past. Where in the dream I see simple things in the future and they happen. Usually nothing I can strange and it always strikes me as odd.
About a year before I worked at an asian restaurant I had a dream about the kitchen and some pots that were up above the freezer. It was very distinct and clear and exactly how the kitchen looked there. It was before the restaurant even existed. I also was unhappy in the dream. I didnt like the job it was stressful.
      A more distinct dream:
I had a dream a couple of years ago that a friend from high school became an elementary school teacher. It was hard to hear because I hadn't gone to school and it made me feel sorry for my life. I honestly haven't seen this girl since high school and I didnt know what she was going to school or anything, we were more like good acquaintances. Anyways, in the dream my life was going to kind of crash and burn afterwards. Nothing was said but the feeling was expressed. So, strange though I ran into her at my job and she told me that she was an elementary school teacher as I worked my minimum wage job!
Most recently a guy I care about I dreamed about. In the dream I was reaching out to him and he was cold and distant. Not the guy I thought I knew. This was about a week ago. I established contact with him and he was quite distant and cold. I know that could seem a coincidence. But this was very real. When I knew the guy before he was very nice, deep, open, and interested in me. So, the foretelling of this was unsettling.
I am very good at reading people to. All the things they dont say I pick up on. I pick up on emotions like a sponge. I wasnt sure if I believe in psychic stuff in the past or if Im even interested in it. I have found it to be very wearisome. I don't relate to anybody. Can't seem to talk to anybody about it. I guess my older sister seemed interested about the friend. Maybe I could talk to her. Ah, so unsettling though I wish my foretelling was positive not gloomy.

I don't think it's gloomy, I think you have a great gift ! Maybe you can make it more positive by understanding where it comes from and how to use it. Did you ever had a birth chart drawn ? It could give you some clues.

I knew I wasn't alone! I used to see little things that were going to happen when I was a child!! Like me and my brother were playing N64 (Remember that?) and playing Legend of zelda and he did EXACTLY what I had dreamed of when he was playing, the exact same thing! And also I'd dreamed once that my mom had to go to work early and spilled her coffee on her floor one morning, and it happened 10 minutes after I woke up! I wish I could have those again though. I got a question though, have you ever been able to control it?

Sounds like empathy for the emotions part and like precognition for the first part Must be interesting to dream about some upcoming future events

I used to have lots of dreams about things that would happen not so long after. The big one has always been fire. From when I was little up until I reached 15 I would dream that our house caught fire and my mum or sister always died. When I was 15 our house caught fire and our fire alarm wasn't working but I woke up. They said if I hadn't my sister would've died within 10 minutes due to smoke inhalation. Other dreams, all smaller things - boyfriends cheating, text messages that I would read in my dream that would then be on my phone the next day, small injuries and such. It's not what I would call gloomy - more a part of your brain that you don't always use being triggered - after all we only use a small percentage of our brain. It definately sounds likesomething you should pay attention to.

Ever heard of the band Franz Ferdinand? Some dude who got assassinated and kicked off WW2. His death was predicted in a dream.

Hem, you mean the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo in 1914, that triggered WWI. The second world war started 35 years later, after german invasion of Poland, which is quite far from Bosnia. But most interesting precog dream from this Bishop Joseph Lanyi about his ex-pupil, and well documented indeed ! Incredible he didn't try to alert the authorities thought, there was definitly time for a phone call or a telegram, but would the security have given a credit to a dream, even from a bishop ? Probably not. And threats on chiefs of state and royal families where then even more common than now. We'll never know...

      I have them too

My most memorable one is i saw my friends playing in a pool. They were dunking, and my friend (ill call her R) pushed a floaty in her sis. She said, " she'd be lucky if she could breath". Two years later, everything was the same. The same shape of clouds in the sky, the same garden, and even what she said and how she said it. I have counted 15 throughout my life.

I've always had little things happen that make me wonder if I can tell the future through my dreams, but nothing like what you guys have had happened.
One of my dream signs is school, and I quite often dream that someone won't be at school the next day and they won't be, or the teachers will do bag searches or make-up checks and I always know not to take my phone to school on those days, because it always seems to occur after I dream of it.

I think it all comes down to practise. When I was having dreams like those I was waking up two or three times a night on my own accord to write down dreams. If you're only getting little bits I think, if you practise dream recall and such it should improve.

I often call this dejà vù, but i have foind this is very different. Dejà vù is caused when the left side of your brain works in a diff time as your right. They see things at diff times, causing the feeling that this had happened before. Our dreams happen years in advance (my example above was 3 years before). Makes me wonder the origin...

I've been having these too and I just had a deja vu today actually. I was sitting at this place at the library and I've never sat there before, which is odd. Are your dreams usually places you've already visited? Or are they palces you've never seen before?

Yes I have had many dreams about the future. I had posted this story in another thread, but I think it fits here:

Back in '96 I had my first precognitive dream. I had a dream I was walking back from school about a block from my house and I saw an ambulance drive by with the sirens blaring. Then when I got to the corner in front of the convenience store I saw a crowd of people. I went over to see what was going on and there was an old woman laying half-dead on the street with a pool of blood around her head. Then there was a skinny dude in a cheap gray suiting looking suspicious. I thought he had something to do with it. Upon awaking from this dream I was deeply disturbed at how real it felt and wrote it down. Then about two weeks later I was walking home from school and I see an ambulance wiz by same as in the dream. I thought that was weird. Then I get to the corner and in front of the same store was the same exact woman laying on the street with a pool of blood around her head. Uncanny! There was even the same guy in the gray suit and everything. It was detail for detail exactly like my dream. I went home and looked at my journal and it was all there in black and white. This was merely the first of a long string of prophetic dreams usually about more mundane things though.

Thanks for everyones replies. I didnt check back until now and didnt know so many would respond. I guess Ill clarify some questions. I dont have control over the dreams. In the past 5 years Ive been really out of touch with myself and I dont recall my dreams as much as when I was a teenager. Though still get the dreams.
Another thing about dreams. Has anybody noticed the clarity. Like I used to write poetry and had an obsessive period. I had a dream I was sitting with my feet in a fountain. Dressed in white. And three poets came to me and read me thier poetry. And its was just lovely. I couldnt remember the poetry when I woke up but it was really good. It was an amazing experience to have my mind work so fast.
My boyfriend is a computer program and he say sometimes he solves computer problems in his sleep.
Not as exciting as fortelling but its interesting how the mind works.
