I'd be really surprised if this hasn't been brought up somewhere already, but I really did search, and I really didn't find anything like this, so here I am.

Basically what happened was that earlier tonight I sat down and closed my eyes--not intending to fall asleep, mind you, just closing my eyes for a minute--when I felt them roll back into my head and start to 'flicker' like REM. This ceased after a short while, but when I got both of my eyeballs looking straight forward (eyes still closed), I saw something much like this:

Basically it was a limited vision that saw my own body most strongly, but could also weakly perceive other things around me, as I tried to demonstrate in the photo. The colors and all that seemed like HI, only this was super advanced for hypnagogic imagery. I was in a public building that I've been to before, but chairs and tables were arranged differently this time than they had been before, and yet if I tried I could perceive their locations with total accuracy.

Honestly though, it was rather fun being able to see myself that way moreso than stuff around me. I could see my own body most intensely, so in that regard it was more interesting to look at.

I kept my eyes shut for several minutes and went around with my eyes shut, seeing stuff this way. Unfortunately though, my vision got gradually weaker by the second and before long I was blind again (until I opened my eyes, of course).

Anyone else had stuff like this happen? Do you think it comes from memories or some form of external perception? Discuss.
