    1. Another LD, finally...

by , 03-10-2013 at 02:27 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
I haven't updated my dream journal in ages, whoops.

Anyway, I FINALLY had another lucid dream last night!

It started out as a false awakening; I don't remember what made me realize I might be dreaming, but I remember I was standing in the kitchen at the time. I counted my fingers, and I was PRETTY sure I'd counted six. I wasn't entirely sure I'd counted correctly, though, so I decided to check my other hand just to make sure. However, before I could count my fingers, I noticed something else that was a dead giveaway - my Hylian crest ring (which I wear on the index finger of my left hand) had a different symbol on it, and a larger version of that symbol also appeared across my index, middle, and ring fingers (think like a henna tattoo, but golden and slightly illuminated).

My mom was in the kitchen, so I started talking to her, since I knew I had to try to keep talking or actively focusing on something (I wake up within moments otherwise). After a moment of talking, I suddenly said, "Did you know this is a dream? This is how I know." I showed her the ring and the image across my fingers, which changed each time I looked at it. The last time I looked at it, I remember that the ring had a picture of a tree, and on my fingers were the mountains behind it. It was actually really cool.

I knew I needed to come up with ideas of things I could only do in a dream, and I knew it would be best to start with simple dream control techniques as practice. I announced that I was going to try to phase through the door (a skill that might come in handy in a later dream, right?), only to end up slamming into the door and not passing through. Oh well, I tried.

I asked my mom if she had any other suggestions of things I could try, but she asked me to leave her alone for a moment because she was busy cooking. Normally, this would have been fine, but, since this was a dream, I had to find a way to keep myself in the dream in the meantime.

I remember chattering away to myself for a moment before stopping and accidentally waking up.
    2. ToTM Attempt

by , 10-03-2012 at 03:37 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
I was at home; it was morning, and I was thinking about what to write in my dream journal. I suddenly got the feeling that perhaps I was still dreaming and did a reality check to confirm this. I had six fingers. "I am dreaming!" I said. Even though there was no one else around, I thought I would sound crazy if someone did happen to hear me from another room, so I did another RC just to make sure I really WAS dreaming before I started talking to myself about the fact that I was dreaming. This time, I counted seven fingers.

For once, I actually remembered the Task of the Month. "Okay, for the Task of the Month, I have to be bitten by a vampire... or a zombie or a werewolf," I reminded myself. "Now, where am I going to find a vampire?" Being in my seemingly-empty house seemed like a bit of a problem here, but I quickly came up with a solution. "Oh, well, there was that one vampire who spent the night..." I said, hoping that would work, though I was a bit too uncertain about that.

I entered my room to look for this vampire, who was hopefully there. Not only was no one there, but my room was dark for some reason. I'd also stopped talking, which has begun to have a rather predictable result. This caused me to inadvertently close my eyes, try to open them, and end up opening my real eyes instead. Oops.

    3. It's about time...

by , 09-19-2012 at 03:15 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
I finally had another lucid dream! In the dream, I was reading a magazine. The magazine had pictures of miniature light-up TARDISes that people (somehow) used to get to sleep. I wanted one.

I got the idea to do a spontaneous RC. I looked at my hand and counted six fingers. Fully certain I was awake, I counted again, figuring I had just counted wrong. Still six. I counted a third time just to make sure, and I still had six fingers.

With no choice but to accept the fact that I was dreaming, I began pacing back and forth across my room (something I sometimes do IWL for no particular reason), talking to myself in a whisper as I tried to recall something that would give it away. The pictures in the magazine had been animated! It had to be a dream!

I did the first thing that came to mind, which happened to be another teleportation attempt. This time, I decided to use a portal. I traced an oval in the air with my finger. A portal (which looked like one from the game Portal) appeared, but the image was very faint, and the portal didn't work.

I resumed pacing/talking (as I've learned that doing or thinking nothing can cause a dream to collapse). I attempted to remember the TOTM, recalled something about a dream journal, then remembered that had been last month's task. Unable to remember the current task (and not wanting to waste the whole dream trying to remember), I returned to what I had previously been doing.

This time, I tried using a door, which I also made by tracing it with my finger. The result was the same as last time, except with a door.

I woke up soon after that.

    4. Zelda Again

by , 09-06-2012 at 02:39 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
I was playing some sort of Zelda game. For some reason, I was playing as Zelda instead of Link, who wasn't even there. For some other reason, Zelda could fly, though not very well. I spent most of the time trying to fly up to this random floating platform.

At one point, I heard the music that plays in Spirit Tracks when Dark Trains are nearby. I turned around and saw a Dark Train behind me, but I wasn't worried about it because I knew it couldn't go off the tracks (besides, I was in the air). Later, I saw two more on a separate part of the tracks (and the music was playing again). One of them looked a bit like Thomas the Tank Engine. It looked like it was going to crash into the one in front of it.

In the next dream, I was at home. I can't remember what I was doing, though.

I woke up from that, then went back to sleep. This time, I was in a large room that was kind of like the lodge we stayed in for the Camporee, except more square. I looked up at the clock and saw there was half an hour until whatever we were doing next, so I decided to get my laptop to update my DJ. Then, Jonathan, a boy from my church, warned me not to take too long because using a computer for too long is bad for you.
    5. Milk

I was at home. There were two jugs of milk on the table in the dining room. They had been left out there all night. I wondered if the milk was still okay. I tried a little and it tasted alright, but it had gone watery and sort of clear. I decided it was best not to risk drinking any more.

    6. I Found Cookie!

by , 08-30-2012 at 03:06 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
I don't remember much from last night, just a couple fragments. In the first, I found Cookie, a stuffed animal (a black-and-white cat) I've had for as long as I can remember, in my basement. I picked her up and hugged her really tight because I was glad that I'd finally found her (she went missing maybe a couple years ago IWL).

In the second, I was on some website where there was this competition going on. It was some sort of video game competition. People could vote for their favourites in different categories (favourite character, favourite game, favourite genre, favourite moment, etc.).
    7. Well...

by , 08-23-2012 at 10:26 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
Okay, let's see how much of this I can still remember... I haven't really had the chance to type up this entry until now.

I was at home, in the living room. The keyboard was there, right where it used to be (it's been in my room for ages now, though). For the purpose of having more space for the crowd of people, I'm assuming, the one couch not facing the TV was missing, and the room was slightly bigger.

There was this rope hanging from the ceiling, and I guess the part about people pulling it was fairly important, but I can't remember much of that now.

What I do remember is Andrea, a girl I sort of work with over the summer, running up the stairs and saying to me, "I thought you were going to be tighter."

As with many a strange thing a DC has said, I understood her meaning perfectly, despite her rather odd choice of words. She was referring to me resolving to be stricter with my reward system for LDing.

Apparently, she wasn't referring exclusively to my reward system, but also LDing techniques in general, as I replied, "I am; I write down my dreams every morning."

There's a small gap here that I can't quite remember now, but I do remember seeing my friend Giana shortly afterwards. I looked down at my hand as an RC, took note of the extra finger, then told her I'd be right back because I had to go to the bathroom. Clearly, my subconscious still had control over dream-me.

I went into the bathroom and closed the door. I'd heard that touch was a sense that was often overlooked in dreams, so I decided to pay attention to how things felt - the door handle, the floor (I had bare feet), the light switch, even my jeans as I pulled them down; they all felt just as they would IWL, and the door handle and floor even felt somewhat cold.

I got so carried away with paying attention to tactile sensations that I unintentionally closed my eyes so I could focus more on this sense. Almost as soon as I did, I realized my mistake, and sort of freaked out a little, as my previous experiences with closing my eyes had almost always resulted in me waking up.

Well, I didn't exactly wake up right away. The dream abruptly changed to a weird post on some forum that doesn't exist... and THEN I woke up.
    8. Lots of Fragments

by , 08-20-2012 at 11:11 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
Okay, here's what I remember from last night...

The first one I remember was at my house. In my room, in front of my TV, there was a box full of VHS tapes and DVDs. These were in the "library", so they would come and go as people "checked out" and "returned" them (people didn't actually come into my room; they would go to the library, where checking out a video would cause it to disappear from my room, while returning one would cause it to reappear).

One of the videos was The Minish Cap (a movie based off of the Zelda game, I'm guessing); I decided I'd come back for it later so I could watch it with my friend Lizz. It was on a VHS tape, by the way.

When I came back later (I can't remember any parts of the dream in between), it had been checked out already. However, it was available on DVD, but I didn't want that one because I wanted to watch it in my room (which doesn't really make sense, since I have a DVD player AND a VCR in my room, so either would work).

After waking up from that, I decided to attempt DEILD again. I was barely awake when I woke up, which I figured was good for DEILD. I decided I wanted to enter a Zelda-related dream, so I pictured the first Zelda-related thing I could think of: the Spirit Train. I probably could've come up with something better, like a specific location, but keep in mind that my mind was far from fully awake at the time.

Anyway, I quickly slipped into a dream, but, instead of a lucid dream, I entered a false lucid dream instead (i.e., I had control but didn't know I was dreaming). When I woke up from it, it actually took me a moment to actually figure out if that had been a dream or if I'd just imagined it while still partially awake (like in hypnagogia), but I concluded that it was definitely a dream because, although the actual memory of it was really fuzzy (making it harder to tell), I could definitely remember being able to see everything (as opposed to just knowing it's there without actually seeing it, like in daydreaming or visualization).

Anyway, shortly after entering the dream, the Spirit Train disappeared. I quickly concluded that it had disappeared because there were no tracks, so I made the Spirit Tracks appear and summoned the Spirit Train again. I did this by just wanting it to appear, which caused it to appear right before my eyes (I'm assuming this worked because I knew it was supposed to be there and had been there just moments before). The rest of the dream consisted of me making the Spirit Train reappear a few more times (since it kept disappearing) before waking up.

I had another dream last night, in which a bunch of girls were using my laptop to look at pictures of Martin Luther King, Jr. for some reason. I went outside to the backyard (my backyard). I could the local elementary school next door, which, for some reason, seemed perfectly normal. Anyway, there were these guys outside, and they used some weird handheld device to fire an electromagnetic pulse into the air, which caused a pulsating ball of light to appear in the sky.

I had one final dream, in which I was watching Doctor Who. The episode started with a dream that Amy Pond was having. It was rather surreal and... not like a dream. It would show an image of her against a white background, then switch to a quick scene from her dream (the background never changed, though), then back to the first image, then onto another dream, and so on. One of the scenes was the Doctor kissing her...

Anyway, shortly after she woke up, I woke up.
    9. Meow

by , 08-13-2012 at 02:32 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
I was in my living room with Henri (my cat) and Bugsy (my friend's rabbit, who I looked after for a couple weeks recently while she was away). Henri meowed, and Bugsy copied him. I thought it was really cool that a rabbit was able to mimic a cat. I looked back at Henri, but Oliver (my other cat) was there instead.
    10. So Close

by , 08-02-2012 at 09:53 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
I can remember three dreams from last night. In the first, I was playing Sims 3. My Sim (a woman, by the way) was trapped in one room of the house. There were no doors in the room she was in (for those who don't know, the game has a top-down view, so I could see her and everything perfectly fine). Suddenly, I was given the option to allow her to fly so she could get out of the room she was trapped in. I clicked "No", but she started flying anyway, so I tried to quit the game. For some reason, there was no option to quit without saving, but I really did NOT want to save.

I can barely remember the next dream. I remember going up into this treehouse where there were these ghost girls. There were three, I think. It seemed totally normal at the time.

In the third dream, I was at home. My mom told me it was almost time for bed. I reminded her that I'd only just gotten up. She informed me that I'd gone back to bed. I figured out that that must have meant I'd slept all day long, though I didn't even remember going to bed. Then, she said something weird.

"That's just a typical schooler day; if you were very hungry, you don't remember anything," she told me. I still wasn't convinced I'd lost my memory of the entire day. I looked at the clock and saw that it was 7:45 (presumably PM). I somehow also inferred that it was April 12, which was (apparently) yesterday's date! I'd somehow jumped back in time! Well, that, or... I could be dreaming...

As soon as I started to suspect it was a dream, I woke up, unfortunately.
    11. Teleportation Troubles

by , 07-27-2012 at 01:36 PM (Fennecgirl's Collection of Dreams)
I was in my room. I was showing someone (can't remember who) my cat Oliver. He was a tiny, grey kitten, the tiniest kitten you ever did see. In real life, however, he's actually black and white and pretty much all grown up. I realized this and figured I was probably dreaming. I looked at my hand for an RC and had six fingers. Now, I knew I was dreaming. Unfortunately, I woke up within seconds. I noticed the grey kitten was still in my room, concluded I'd had a false awakening, and RC'd again. Once again, this woke me up nearly straight away.

I had a feeling that I was still dreaming. I didn't want to wake myself up again, so I just wandered around the house, paying attention to everything around me, as I'd heard that was a way of stabilizing a dream. After a little while, I decided to tell my mom I was dreaming.

"Are you?" she asked. I showed her my hand and told her that's how I could tell (I still had the extra finger, and I couldn't even keep my fingers straight if I looked at them for more than a second or so). "Oh, okay," she said.

Then, I decided to try teleporting again, since I'd failed before and wanted to get it right this time. I decided that maybe I could try using a portal this time. Since I'd heard it's harder to make objects appear right before your eyes, I decided for some reason to jump up, expecting a portal to appear under me. It didn't. I decided to try spinning instead. I stood in the middle of the living room, arms outstretched, and made sure I had enough room to spin without hitting the TV. After confirming that I had enough space, I started to spin. Realizing I'd need a destination, and that I should actually visualize it this time, I briefly closed my eyes, as it's easier to visualize anything that way.

That was a mistake. I woke up right away. This time, I had a feeling I was really awake. I did an RC and confirmed that I was.
