(( Return of the girl. This was one of the many dreams she appeared in, although she never revealed herself as anything other than the girl. Funny, no? ))

We were fighting a war, and every time people ventured outside, they were killed byt he people who wanted us dead. They had better weapons than us -- soldiers that were cyborgs. Actual metal soldiers that could kills us within an instant. I remember feeling hopeless and helpless as I gathered some supplies.

We, the rebels (for some unknown cause) had holed ourselves up in a three-story wooden house. We had been managing pretty well so far, but with all the people dying, I was concerened. About the girl's safety. In all of my dreams she looked slightly similar to me but different, too. She was just called the girl.

So I'm walking through the house and checking up on people and supplies, when sudden missiles just destroy most of the outside landscape. The house rocked and I fell down onto my knees, suddenly disoriented and unable to think properly with the ringing in my head. Still, I was concerned with the girl's safety, and it took most of my effort, but I managed it. I staggered over to where she was and grabbed her, tugging her into another section of the house.

There was a very small hidden door there, and I wasn't sure where it led to, but I knew it would be safe enough. I yanked it open, and found the way blocked with various objects. Desperate, I pried everything away -- only to have one of the enemies come into the house.

It was a girl I knew, named Annie, a soft-hearted girl who had no place in this war. Still, she had a cold look in her eyes and she opened her mouth to shout out and tell everybody where we were. Tears began to drip down my cheeks, and I hid the girl behind me, pleading with Annie to let us go. We hadn't done anything but live. Please.

A few tense moments of silence passed, before she shut her mouth and her gaze softened. She gestured for us to go, to escape while we had the chance. So without much pretense, I smiled at her and thanked her from the bottom of my heart. Then I shoved the girl through, before disappearing through the hole in the wall myself.

I somehow dropped about ten feet onto a cold cement ground, with what looked like cage-bars stretching across some of the walls. Instantly, somehow, impossibly, I knew we were in another place -- another world.

    I woke up.
