This LD was the first of two from the morning of 9/17/2013.

    Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

    Lucid #147: Train Station Cafe

I'm in a wood-panelled room looking at some kind of device with Wife and a woman that I think is NyxCC. It's a small wooden box about the size of a cigar box with a mirror-like screen on it when you flip the lid open. There's a big window to our left with a view of an endless forest. After we're through looking at the device, we walk down a long hallway into an area that looks a bit like a train station. NyxCC and Wife are talking animatedly about types of art projects they both like to work on.

On our left is a busy cafe with walls made entirely of glass, and we step inside to find a table. NyxCC and Wife sit down at a table, leaning forward, elbows on the table, still talking about this art thing they're into. Before I sit down, I realize that I've forgotten something back in the room we just came from.

I turn to leave just as I notice that NyxCC's jaw looks thinner and longer than it did a moment ago. I think about this as I'm preparing to exit the cafeteria, trying to think whether Nyx looks different than she used to. The whole thing makes me think of lucid dreaming and a quick burst of critical thinking
    makes me lucid.

I turn back to look at the crowd, but Wife and Nyx have both vanished. I see one of our friends "LS" seated at a tall but narrow circular table nearby, but as I scan the crowd and return my eyes to this table, LS has turned into my four-year-old son "E", sitting by himself in some kind of boosted chair. I walk up to E's table and say, "Hey buddy, I'm dreaming."

"Uh-huh!" he responds, emphasizing the second syllable.

I grip the edge of the table with my hands, trying to draw out as much vividness as possible from the scene. My hands are a strange color, slightly pinkish. The table feels just like a cool, laminate table edge like you'd find in a fast food restaurant. I look up to see a waiter watching me, along with E.

I reach down and grab the table by its leg. "I want you to see what you can do in dreams," I say, pumping the table up and down over my head. "I can make it float away if I want to." For some reason, the ceiling is high above us, maybe a hundred feet up. The table floats upward for a while and then awkwardly disappears.

I look down to get one more glimpse of E and the water staring at me before I fall into the void. I rub my hands together then reach forward to see what's here. My hands land on what feels like the shoulders of a woman wearing a strapped dress. She's moving around a bit and seems like she might be trying to communicate or interact but none of it is getting through to me. I get a vague vision of her as a woman in her mid-30s with long brown hair, but before I can see her face,
    I wake up.

Congrats on the lucid, especially making the table float away high in the air after your command.
I don't know what it is in these dreams as I've had it myself where you think or say certain 'commands' which are often a bit random. It is almost like it is as though we are (over) testing ourselves and the dream maybe?

Yet the NLD; well I'd have been happy with that alone as the meeting with NyxCC is amazing! (Imagine if you'd have hit awareness around that point?)

Heh, you're right about the strange over-tests... I sometimes get in the mood to show off tricks to DCs. I think that I love the idea of seeing their reaction to these "amazing" feats. Pretty funny to so desperately seek approval from DCs.

Yeah, it was very cool having Nyx show up! I think it's unlikely this would have been an LD at all if she hadn't been in the dream. And I completely agree that it would have been cool to achieve lucidity when we were examining that device because while I no longer remember exactly what it did, it did something. Or phasing out the window into that forest would have been fun!

Congrats on the lds,CL! Lol, I am very happy that my presence and my jaw helped achieve lucidity here!

You are a born showman, it seems! I also love to do some random dream control, but usually don't focus on DCs, just on the feeling of mischief - lifting cars, breaking cups, etc.

Yes, thank goodness that I assumed your jaw does not change shape and size IWL. I'm still curious what kind of art projects you and Wife were so interested in!

You know, mischief was my very first act of dream control but I don't revisit it nearly often enough. It's always great fun when I do!

Hey, you want to make mischief? Go vandalize the Great Wall and then kung-fu anyone that tries to stop you. Now that's mischief!

Me too. I'm also curious about that box. Dreams are a great way to bring inventions to rl too. One more year of practice and you will be like Leonardo da Vinci, building complex gadgets that one has seen only in dreams. I bet he could lucid as well. Or maybe he was always dreaming irl.

That really does sound like good mischief. Actually, I have an idea, how about squeezing some shampoo and other hair products on the wall? Ooooh, let's make a mess. I'll add some ketchup too

Yeah, don't you get suspicious about all of those creative types now? I think you're right... those sorts of people seem like they can just more easily tap into that part of their mind that's unafraid to explore wild connections between seemingly disparate ideas, pick them up, and fearlessly smash them together.

Kind of like, as you say, dreaming IRL!

Ha ha, yes, this is perfect! And with shampoo on hand, you'll have no trouble squirting some of that in the autorities' eyes before you start in on them with the kung-fu!
