      Dream 1:
I was at my friend Rachael's house, and I was making a bagel with jelly on it. I was trying to make sure I put the jelly on just right, and I dotted it, glob by glob, onto the bagel. Her mom was talking to me and so was she, asking about the art of putting jam on a bagel. Her dad, who was in the other room, yelled and asked who was over. She told him it was me, and he told me to get out. Then her mom told him about the bagel, and he said I could stay if he could have a bagel.

      Dream 2:
I was walking in my neighborhood, when I saw a boy who recently graduated from my high school, named Nathan, standing in a driveway with a girl of perhaps 12 who I didn't recognize. They were singing while she played the piano, and it was beautiful. I had no idea he could sing and stopped to listen for a while before heading off to my friend Isabella's house.

      Dream 3:
I got to Isabella's house, as she had invited me over, and we went inside. He younger brother was lying on the couch, and looked surprised when I walked in. Their mom came up to me and said it wasn't a good time to be over, but that she'd have Isabella let me know when it was. Confused, I left.

      Dream 4:
I was inside my house, talking to my mom, when I saw Isabella standing in our backyard, watching our neighbor's cat, Bella, who is white with black spots and sits on our fence. I peered through the blinds in the kitchen at them, then moved into the study to get a better look. She turned around and stared at me.

      Dream 5:
I was at my grandma's apartment complex, and oddly enough, I wasn't in the dream. I was merely watching the dream. A pretty young girl in her late teens with red hair and green eyes was convinced that her brother was downstairs and wanted to introduce her to someone. When she went downstairs and into the parking lot, her brother was not there, and a strange man grabbed her and threw her into his car. He told her that she was now his daughter and that the terrified little blond girl in the backseat was now her sister. The girls tried to escape but couldn't, and eventually they ended up on a tropical island that was somehow back in the era of pirates. The older girl swam out into the water, where pieces of a wrecked ship were floating, screaming that the man was not her father. Concerned citizens stood on the beach in front of a tavern, wearing clothing from that period. The man laughed and told them his daughter was just being silly, and went after her, but she moved away and pushed planks of wood into his path. The youngest girl then escaped the car and started to scream for help. The man grew angry and lunged at the older girl, prompting the townspeople to move towards them to save her.
Something later on the dream had to do with dark houses and running away... I can't remember.

      Dream 6:
The world had ended, though I'm not sure how, and I was stuck with the only survivors: a random guy I've never seen and his friend, who was an older woman, and a handful of girls from my highschool who I never really get to spend time with. We were crouched in an old garden, trying to get to the food, when a doe ran past us, screeching and displaying jagged fangs. A buck with tiny points for antlers ran after her, and the man said he'd hate to be on the wrong end of those antlers. I was more worried about the teeth.
We successfully got the veggies and moved to a wooden deck with picnic tables on it. We were planting whole carrots and broccoli in small wooden boxes in hopes of them growing, and Greyson, and old friend of mine, wasn't planting her carrots right, so I helped her. The older lady loaded the boxes of veggies into a wagon, and promised to come back when they had grown. Then we were sitting at a picnic table, and Victoria and Grace, two girls from my old school, found a clove of garlic the older lady had saved. They wanted to eat it, and I knew they shouldn't because I know how to plant cloves of garlic to make them grow, and every clove was a chance for more garlic. However, I was too afraid to voice my opinion and they ate it.
Then we were driving in huge semi trucks to find other survivors, and I offered to super-glue some of the broken mirrors and a pair of metal antlers that adorned one of the trucks.

Talks about weird dreams... At least my recall was better!

      Dream 1:

I am told that a T-Rex professor in another dimension has taken prehistoric weapons from the archeology department, and that its my job to find out what he's up to.
I have to jump through the dimensions, essentially skydiving, with my partner, who I don't recognize from real life. When we land on the metal landing pad, we find another trans-dimensional traveler, tha fled in his parachute and suspended there like a fly in a spider web. He tells us he is an American pilot who was sent here during the First World War, but did not complete his mission and has been tangled there ever since he landed. We wish him well and head off into the city, which is large, as it is inhabited by humanoid dinosaurs and a few humans who have earned their welcome. We walked until we reached the museum, which from the outside is a large grey building. Unsure of how to get into the museum, we wander around the parking lot, which looks like a schoolyard parking lot with basketball hoops and such, until we find a kid squatting on the ground. He offers us a sticker, which he has many sheets of, saying that he'll sell us the yellow one for a dollar. All of the stickers are red, green, and yellow, and have a dinosaur on them. We pay him for our stickers, as mission control instructs us to do, and then we place them on our arms. Suddenly I am standing in the darkened museum hallway, my partner nowhere in sight. I hear loud footfall and press myself against the wall, only to see the towering T-Rex professor, who is as red as the sticker on the parking lot, running down the hallway with stone-tipped spears tucked under his tiny arms. Prepared to follow him and figure out why he is stealing relics, I sneak into his enormous office, where two of his colleagues are reclining on the couch. It is huge and well lit, with a glass table and a leather couch, and his desk, covered in papers. He slipped the spears into a drawer in his desk, and then greeted his friends, a large green brontosaurus, and a yellow triceratops. I watched from behind books on his bookshelf, knowing if I got caught, my snooping would not be appreciated. The brontosaurus looked at the T-Rex, and there seemed to be some hostility between them. Then, the brontosaurus asked the triceratops to go on a date with him, to which the T-Rex did the same, saying that he's known her longer and appreciates he much more. She looked confused, then said she's not interested in dating either of them. They both responded by telling her she has to pick one of them. Again, she refused. The T-Rex paced the room, his footsteps causing the floor to tremble, and pulled the spears from his desk. He walked towards his colleges, and then I woke up.

      Dream 2:
I was with a colleague from work, and she showed us a pile of feathers she was collecting and told us we could add to it to help her out. Then we walked around and fed ducks, before going into a small room where four dollhouses were set up. Littlest pet-shop figurines are in each one, and she instructs me to put food in their bowls, even though they are still drinking milk. I do so, utterly perplexed.

Dream: I was given a case of clay, but it did not have a black. It had a dark shade of grey and other hues like red and orange; but the lack of black clay dissapointed me. I was told that if I climbed the hill and went to the biggest apple tree, I would find a single stick of black clay. The hill was covered in long golden grass, and a fence at the top separated it from an apple orchard. I did not want to walk through the grass because I was afraid of snakes biting me. I went a few steps, following the matted down grass a previous climber had left, but turned around, and opted to climb up the other side of the hill, which was just bare dirt. I reached the largest tree and found a stick of black clay nestled in its roots.
Dream 2: After I had found the clay, I found myself in an old and strange building, with odd paintings. I was told by a mysterious woman that this was where a recluse had once hidden from the world. I liked the place, as it was bright and toned grey and brown, but I was not permitted to stay. I needed to deliver the black clay to the bottom of the hill.

Fragment: Something to do with my mom trying to convince me of something.
Fragment: Something to do with the principal of my middle school.

Dream 1: I was texting someone I know and have only spoken to once, and it was extremely awkward. He was making fun of me and I was upset.
Dream 2: I was forced to go to a facility where animals were displayed like artifacts. I was paraded by a guide through rows of metal cages in which sad and frightened animals cowered. I had a shock collar on, and if I went more than ten feet away from him, I would be electrocuted. I was furious that anyone would subject these beautiful creatures to enclosures so small that they could barely turn around. When we had gone halfway through the facility, the guide made me get into a miniature jeep to drive past the "dangerous" animals, who "might have lunged at us if we just walked". We went through a few more rows, and then emerged outside. A serval, or an African cat that is excellent at jumping, was laying on a picnic table. The guide walked over. He then proceeded to dissect the animal, which was still alive, not sedated, and showing no signs of discomfort. He took it apart completely, removing all of its organs, and then began putting it back together. It survived all of this. I was horrified.

Dream 1: I was talking to my freshman year English teacher, having lunch with her in her classroom.
Dream 2: I was babysitting a little boy and a little girl, and everything was going fine until they got ahold of some questionable substances and injested them. I tried to prevent them from doing this, but they managed to obtain the materials; afterwards, I was trying to explain to them why it was bad to eat what they had eaten.
Dream 3: My friends and I were by a lake, with a forest around it. We were playing a game of some sort, because we were at a camp. I ran and ended up by the lake, where people were swimming and playing. Then I was in a lazy river with a murky bottom and warm water. I was swimming near an outcropping of rocks that a random woman told me were called "the gateway". I asked her what that meant, and she explained that it connected to another river, where Koi and alligators lived, and that the Koi would swim through the tunnel into this river, where Koi and turtles lived. Apparently, they did this once a year, and when they did it was magnificent. They would then battle the turtles for control of the river.
We waited, and eventually large glowing Koi came through, with many patterns and shades engulfed in a soft gold light.
      I woke up.

Dream 1: I was in restaurant, and when I went past the drinking fountains and the bathrooms, I saw a dimly lit hallway. No one else noticed it, but I went down it. It lead to what appeared to be a school, completely dark and in disrepair. I entered into the dining hall, which had a pit of blue foam cubes at one side and a large stage in the center. The stage had tattered curtains and assorted broken lights and props scattered about. Crouching atop a rack of broken lights was a boy.
Suddenly the scene shifted into my living room. The boy flicked a switch on the lights, which had made the trip, and they ignited. He vanished, leaving me alone in my living room with flaming lights.
I panicked, and my siblings appeared along with my close friend, Sam. We decided to put the couch on the fire, as my friend said it would cut off the oxygen and extinguish the flame. Sadly, her theory was incorrect, and the couch burst into flames as smoke filled the room. We contemplated tossing the ottoman on top of the blaze to test her theory one more time, but thought it best to run out into the backyard. We waited there until night had fallen and two firemen came to tell us it was safe. There was no evidence of there ever having been a fire, except for the missing couch. We came back inside, though my friend had dissapeared (who knows where she went). One of the firemen said to the other "If you had to get these people out of the house, how would you do it?"
The other fireman looked at me, as I was closest to him, and then proceeded to pick me up. "Like this", he replied, while I layed limply in his arms, confused, as he moved me up and down. It was if he was doing arm curls with me as the weight. He eventually put me down, and I glared at him.
"That wasn't good form," the other fireman said.
"I'll show you good form," said the arm-curl fireman, picking me up again. Once more he heaved me up and down.
He set me down again and I stared at him confusedly. He smiled and laughed.
Dream 2: I was talking to my Spanish teacher from freshman year by my mailbox about taking her kids to a school event (why do I always dream about being in freshman year again??). We chatted in a friendly manner for a while before she told me she had to go home. After she left, I was walking back to my house when I tripped and fell, spilling the bag of mail. A man came out from behind a nearby bush and walked over. He looked terrifying, and I knew he wanted to hurt me.
"What are you doing on the ground there?" he asked, smiling menacingly.
"I'm Jewish! Wait no, my house burned down!" I yelled. (In my dreams, when I get scared, (since I'm never lucid) I tend to tell random things that are not true.)
      "You're Jewish?" He laughed.
"Well, no, not really." I said, getting up and turning to leave. That's when he started chasing me. I ran towards my house, fumbling to open the door, and got inside, but not quickly enough. I tried to slam the door shut, but he was so close that I couldn't. I screamed, and he lunged towards the semi open door. Then I woke up, terrified.

    8. Giraffes and Grief

      by , 04-19-2016 at 08:35 PM
This dream is from a few weeks ago, but it's really stuck with me. It's extremely odd, but it's worth writing down.
The world had ended, and two of my close friends, Sam and Isabella and I were trying to survive the post-apocalyptic chaos. When I realized we had nearly ran out of food, they volunteered to go retrieve some. We had been hiding in an old abandoned house, which was remarkably well preserved and taken care of. It had winding passageways, antique furniture, stone walls and floors, and had a castle/manor type atmosphere. It was actually quite lovely, and I was glad we had found such a nice place to reside.
The three of us set out to get to Costco, a large store that sells just about everything. My friends and I wandered through the house until we found a hidden bedroom, in which a passageway was. We went through the passageway, which was dark, and I kept trying to convince my friends that we should find another way. I knew what the passageway led to, and was frightened. They inisisted that this way was the safest, as it was hidden, but I knew otherwise.
The passageway led into a bedroom that seemed more like Rapunzel's tower. There was a balcony with large glass doors that opened to a landscape with few trees, and next to an immense canopy bed, a pale boy with blond hair sat, his leg shackled to the bedpost. An array of blankets, pillows and other items littered the floor. I had an overwhelming feeling of knowing him.
My friends seemed shocked to see him, and wanted to be on their way through the passageway, which continued after one had passed through a small door in the opposite wall. The boy looked so fragile and lonely that I paused, and he turned to look at me, his pale eyes searching my face, as if trying to remember something.
"Hi, Nate," I said softly, smiling at him.
      "Do you remember me?"
He looked confused, but then nodded, realizing who I was.
I was not afraid of him in the least, though my friends were. I was afraid of the consequences of being in his room. He had done no wrong, but his father had been keeping him locked away, and would surely punish us for visiting his son's prison.
My friends left and continued on to Costco, while I turned back and returned to the house. We left Nate alone, still chained to the bedpost, though it nagged at my conscience and made my heart ache. I was afraid of making his father even more angry, because I knew when he found out we had passed through Nate's room, he would be furious.
I saw my friends enter Costco, which was dark and chaotic. Items and food were scattered about, and shadowy figures, which I knew were other survivors, fought over what remained. Screams and shouts punctuated the blackness, and two men wrestled over some canned soup. A woman quickly ushered her children down an aisle, each of them clutching a box of cereal, in hopes that they would not be assailed.
My friends somehow avoided this, and were squatting down next to a jumble of soda bottles, some of which were still in the wholesale boxes they had came in, others scattered on the concrete. While two other survivors fought tooth and nail for a box of Oreos nearby, my friends calmly discussed which kind of soda they should take. One stated that she preferred peach, while the other was leaning towards grape. It was almost comical to watch them, amidst the chaos and terror, discussing which flavor of a nonessential food item they should choose.
When they had made their choice, they brought back their spoils, beaming and showing me armfuls of grape soda. I was less than pleased, trying to get them to understand that we could not live off of soda.
They eventually agreed to go back as long as they could keep the soda, and I insisted that they not take the passageway again. They obliged and went outside, walking to the store and chattering cheerfully.
When the balcony of Nate's room, which appeared to be floating in the air, suspended by the passageways, came into sight, I knew something was very wrong. Nate's father was standing on the balcony with a shotgun in his hands. He screamed at my friends, yelling and cursing, and as he did so, a horde of giraffes came out of the trees and attacked them, killing Sam. It was all very sudden, and quite horrifying.
My other friend, Isabella, who had survived, fled and returned to the house, where I was waiting. She was calm and collected, and when I asked where Sam was, she indifferently replied that she did not know. She did not seem sad or shaken in the least, but when I figured out that my other friend had been killed, I was grief stricken and began to sob uncontrollably. She apparently felt nothing after watching her close friend being brutally murdered by animals with hooves the size of dinner plates. I woke up, crying, and was relieved to discover that my friend was not actually dead, because it had all been a dream.

Fragment: I was walking through a deserted hallway that was brightly lit by sunlight streaming in through the windows, towards a large empty dining hall that was also illuminated by natural light. The hallway seemed a bit frightening and made me slightly apprehensive, as though someone was slowly following me, but the dining hall, which had no tables or chairs, seemed to be a very pleasant place that I was eager to reach.
Dream 1: I had a dream that I dreamt that my fish had died, but when I woke up from the dream within my dream, I checked on him and saw that he was alive.
      Dream 2:
I had another dream in which I was on top of a small grassy hill next to a tiny lake people were swimming in. On this hill there was an odd and dilapidated bamboo structure, like a fence of some sort, that encompassed a small rectangular area and had a rickety gate. I had hung my socks and jacket on the structure so that they would dry in the cold breeze; I had gone swimming in the lake briefly with a friend. My friend Patrick and I then went inside the fence and my friend pulled a dead turtle from where it had been wedged between the pieces of wood, and showed it to me. I suggested that he preserve it.
Dream 3: I was in my freshman English class, which was my favorite class that year, and the teacher, who I admired and thought was wonderful, was there. My old classmates were there as well, and we were all sitting as if it were a normal day of class. The teacher then asked to collect an assignment that I had thought was due in a few weeks, but everyone else had it completed and handed it in. When she came to collect my paper, I woke up.

I remember talking to a friend about collaborating on writing; I remember trying to convince someone of something; I remember feelings of frustration and anxiety. I did not attain lucidity at any point, and slept very poorly, often waking up and not being able to go back to sleep.

    12. Don't Take His Heart

      by , 04-16-2016 at 11:58 PM
I had a dream that my close friend Rachael and a close guy friend Patrick that I really liked were cuddling together, just holding each other. I walked in and tried to get into the bed, too, but they wouldn't make room for me, and ignored me while they continued to cuddle, her resting on his chest, him stroking her long, blond hair. They looked at each other with so much love in their eyes, obviously cherishing holding each other. I felt jealous of her.
I laid down on the foot of the bed, deciding I'd just settle for being near him. As soon as I'd settled in, they sat up and pushed me out of the bed.
The love in their eyes was gone, replaced by loathing and contempt.
"Just go away!" she said. "Nobody likes you." She smiled at me in the same way a lioness smiles with pride over her kill.
"Yeah, get lost," he sneered. The look of disgust and hatred in his eyes tore my heart to pieces. They both laughed at me. I got up and headed for the door, tears in my eyes, while they continued to cuddle. How could he look at me with so much hatred and anger, and then look at her with gentle, loving eyes? I was so upset, my heart split in two and bleeding in pain.
"Fine," I said, stopping in the doorway and turning around. "If you both hate me so much, I'll just go die."
"Good," he said, not even taking his eyes off of her. "You'll be doing the world a favor."
And the I ran out of the room, crying, my heart hurting so bad I almost couldn't bear the pain. I sat on the floor in another room, sobbing for what seemed like hours, until they walked in. They smiled at me and acted like nothing was wrong, and after a while they left, their hands intertwined; they stopped in the doorway, him leaning in towards her, her lips puckered and her eyes closed...
That's when I woke up, sobbing and shaking, my heart breaking. In a panicked daze, I was terrified that my nightmare was real, that he loved her and not me, that she had taken his heart, and I cried even harder. By the time I had realized it was just a dream, I was still crying, and I laid in bed for hours, too afraid to go back to sleep.

(This was a nightmare I had earlier this year, I can't remember when, but it really bothered me a lot. I wish I knew how to lucid dream so I could stop experiences like this; sadly, all my attempts have failed.)
