      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This was just the end of a long dream I can't remember much about.

I was on an old, rickety bus, travelling through a hot, dry country. All the windows on the bus were down, and I had my head out to cool down. The sun was scorching, and the light reflecting off the light soil was making me feel slightly dizzy. The ride was uncomfortable. I felt every rock the bus drove over. After a while though, it stopped and I got off. I found myself beside a shack. I think it was a public toilet. As I walked into the shade cast by the building, I noticed (with worry) the vast quantity of snakes and huge spiders around. They were everywhere. Enormous snakes coiled on trees and around rocks were looking at me and baring their fangs. I backed away from the trees only to find myself up against a monstrous bird-eating spider. (Only the biggest hairiest fucking spider in the world... yes it does eat birds)

I turned around again, and finding more unsavoury creatures, looked for an escape route. I would up with my back to a lake (infested with eels and crocodiles of course) and paused.
If I paused to think a bit more often in dreams I'd be far better off. Why were there so many stereotypically scary animals after me? The situation was ridiculous, I didn't need to reality-check. I stepped onto the air and floated out over the lake. The mood of the dream had changed dramatically. The sun was no longer scorching, just pleasant. The lake was flat and smooth, with tiny ripples appearing below me wherever I floated. There was an island in the middle of the lake with two 50m high trees on it. Seemed nice. I floated around the lake a bit more just taking everything in. Then I spread my arms wide before throwing them downwards. There was a bang, and I was launched skyward at a breakneck speed. The water below me was displaced as if a metor had landed. I shot up to twice the height of the tallest trees, and got the now-familiar stomach-in-mouth feeling that always comes with high-speed flight. I landed in the upper branches of the tree, then woke up.

      Riding Through The City (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Not much sleep last night, so in the afternoon I went for a nap. This initially started off as a WILD, but I got too drowsy and fell asleep naturally. I got one nice little hallucination as I was dropping off though. I was visualising leaning with my back against a brick wall, outside a bar. There was a small light attached to the wall above my head. I was only vaguely aware of its presence until it turned blue and exploded with a crack/pop. I heard the sound so vividly, and the outside of my vision went blue for a split-second. It shocked me back to full wakefullness, but the sound seemed to still be ringing in my ears. Anyway, shortly after that I fell into a few dreams which I now can't remember.

I remembered the one I became lucid in, however. It started off seemingly as a continuation of a dream I'd had many months ago, where I was playing football for the Northern Ireland international team. We were now in the World Cup. The strange thing was, the pitch we were playing on was in the place of my back garden. There was no real stadium to speak of. I became semi-lucid when I noticed how easy it was to run towards the ball. Running took absolutely no effort, and I was really fast.
Easy running is becoming a bit of a dreamsign. At half time, I jogged to the petrol station next to my house. I fancied a chocolate ice cream or something. My friend Hugh had given me money to get him a Snickers too. As I wandered round the shop looking for said Snickers, I found I was having real difficulty counting out the money I needed. I kept dropping change, and the handful of change I was holding just seemed to get bigger and bigger. I also couldn't keep any figures in my head for more than a few seconds. After the fifth time I dropped a load of money, I said,

"Fuck it, it's obviously a dream." and threw the handful of change across the shop. Just then, a guy who introduced himself as "Jeff" came in. He was slightly chubby, and wearing a crappy suit. He had the distinct air of a con-man, which I immediately picked up on. He said,
"Hey buddy, it's Jeff, remember me from that other night at the club?" I suspected that he was trying to fool me into trusting him by suggesting a generic situation- one like which a guy my age was likely to be familiar with. (And not remember clearly) I laughed in his face and went outside. I looked back downhill at the football pitch. There was no-one playing on it any more. There was a clinking noise to my right, and Jeff came out of the shop, along with a women and a man. I flew up to the roof of the petrol station and sat there for a bit, contemplating what to do with my free time. After a second, Jeff and the other two floated up to join me.
"So what are you doing here?" the woman asked me.
"I don't know yet." I replied. "Just thinking about what to do with myself here. It's a completely simulated reality inside my own head and I'm out of ideas... Well, lately I've just been working on some dream control."

With that, I stepped off the roof and glided to another as if gravity had been cancelled out. The others followed me. After a few more leaps, I found myself down at ground level again, in a street I knew should've been miles away. There were four motorcycles by the side of the road. Big huge ones, like Harley Davidsons. We each mounted up and roared off down the road. It seemed to be getting to evening time, and the buildings had the same orangey-red glow as the sky. I looked up to see the moon, and another, purple planet farther away. Jeff said something about building up enough dream control to manipulate the planets. I told him I was having enough trouble maipulating a small city, and detailed my previous failed attempts at getting from one place to another through my own city. Just to test myself, I tried to rotate the city around us, using a spire in the distance as a point of reference. Nothing happened. I shrugged and we rode on.

The people we passed in the street seemed terrified of us. Because there were four of us, riding motorcycles, and due to the orange tint to the whole scene, I was reminded of a scene in The Simpsons where the four horsemen of the apocalypse appear. I commented that I felt like one of them. Jeff laughed. We were getting closer to the spire I'd seen in the distance earlier. I could now tell it was cathedral. Quite suddenly, it changed to nighttime, and I felt like I was getting close to waking up. I felt my own body in bed.
Tried to hold on, but it was impossible. I don't know what woke me up at all!

      Still got the Skillz (WILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

It's been too long since I WILDed, so on the morning of my day off I decided to see if I still could. I'd probably slept for about ten hours already, so I wasn't expecting great things. I lay on my back, but after a while I got really roasting and sweaty so I switched to my side and pulled the covers down a bit. Then I was too cold, so I rolled onto my back again, with my knees leaning against the wall.

I drifted away for a while, seemingly falling asleep naturally. Then some solid hallucinations started and my mind automatically took notice again. I heard a humming, and maybe some music. I listened hard and before I knew it,
I was in the passenger seat of my friend's car listening to Johnny Cash- Ring of Fire. To quickly anchor myself I punched the dashboard a few times and ran my hands along it. Tactile sensations ftw. We were driving out onto the motorway from the city centre. I turned to Hugh (the driver) and asked if we could go back into town. There was something I wanted to do there which I cannot now remember! We had a discussion, and eventually decided there was no point in going back in. Dream-Hugh made a good point. I was bemused that my own subconscious had just talked me out of something. I sat back in the chair to think, and started to feel really itchy. I immediately knew what was going on. I must be sweating like a beast under the covers again! I grabbed the dashboard and held on for dear life, but it was too late. I woke up, very sweaty indeed.

I moved as much as I dared to reposition myself somewhere cooler, with my arms above my head. My mind went blank surprisingly quickly, and after about 30 seconds
I could see the inside of my mum's car. This time she was driving. I recognised the street- we were heading for the city centre. It was a beautiful sunny day. My mum was driving like a maniac. I actually put my belt on -in a dream- for my own safety! I kept trying to remember what the route should look like, but things kept popping up which shouldn't have been there. A playground from another area reminded me of a street on the other side of town, then a narrow road convinced me we were back on track. I wished I could keep myself focused enough to recreate the area in which I wanted to be from memory, but it was impossible. Every tiny thing I saw reminded me of somewhere else, and the next time I looked up, that's where I was. I sighed. We were now driving through an estate round the corner from my house, a few miles from the centre. Once again, I overheated and woke up.

I wasn't too annoyed about the wasted dream, I was just pleased that WILDing was still open to me.

      Urban Warfare (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This dream started off as if I was simply playing Call of Duty, but the control and semi-lucidity got better as it went on.

I was part of a small squad of three or four men and our commanding officer- who was Sgt. Foley from the game. We were running uphill through a mostly deserted city. I remember thinking it had to be somewhere in India. We were supposed to be running to the extraction point beside a river. A helicopter (presumably ours) zoomed overhead. As it hovered above the horizon, it was shot down by an RPG.
"Oh no..." said Foley. "We were nearly there." We kept running up the hill anyway, as we were being persued. As I ran, I began to think something was "off"- which I often do in dreams where I'm running.
This was enough for me to try and fly as a reality-check. I took off like a rocket at a 45 degree angle, heading uphill to the river. The lucidity I got was not quite as clear as I'd have liked- otherwise I would've remembered to do some tasks or something. Instead, I dropped down to the ground and waited for my squad to catch up. They ran up the street towards me, ducking for cover behind cars as they went to avoid a hail of bullets which was only getting thicker.
"There's no way out," said Foley. I indicated the river behind us.
      "Aquatic escape?" I suggested.
"No, the only way out is the way we came." This made absolutely no sense to me, as I was sure I had seen boats and jet skis on the banks of the river when I was in the air. I decided we would get more action if we fought our way back though, so I agreed.

Looking back down the street, I could see that our enemies were massing. There was one large figure standing in the open, assembling something. He placed a large cylinder on top of a stand and got behind it.
"Shit- RPG!" I yelled. He fired, and everything seemed to go into slow motion. I darted to the side of the street and took a leap into an alleyway. The leap took me higher than the first floor windows, and out into the next street. There was an explosion behind me, and I was hit in the back with debris. I found I was quite close to the river again, so I did a hulk-jump up to investigate, landing on a high pier. As I suspected, there were jet skis. In fact, one solitary man had just parked his in the middle of the river and started swimming. I decided to steal it. I jumped from the pier into the river. It was a yucky brown colour and had quite a bit of algae. The water was about four metres deep, and I actually had to kick off the riverbed to get back to the surface. The swimming man was none the wiser as I hauled myself aboard his jet ski and (finding the keys still in the ignition) sped off.

I lost lucidity duing my trip along the river. I got caught up in the scenery- it was beautiful. I passed settlements, boats, canoeists and hotels seemingly built out of the riverbank. Eventually my jet ski sprung a leak and I had to abandon it.

      Drunk and Disorderly (WBTB)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

WBTB's. They really do work. I was only out of bed for about two minutes this morning, and flopped back down to sleep right away. I suppose that was enough to get my brain working properly.

The thought of getting up was enough to trigger a "preparation dream". Even though it was Sunday, I dreamt I was on my way to work. I got to the train station in the city centre in a taxi, and realised I was running late. There was a train I had to get, which was leaving in a couple of minutes. I threw my backpack over my shoulder and ran through the automatic doors. As I jogged through the station, I wondered why I felt so dizzy and undsteady. Was I out boozing last night? I couldn't remember. I got to a shiny area of floor and my feet came out from under me. I slid along the floor on my ass, into a plant pot. The people sitting on benches all around gave me disapproving looks.
"Yep, I'm definitely still drunk," I thought to myself.

For some reason, the dizziness got a whole lot worse now I was down on the floor. I tried to drag myself onto a chair, but it was an impossible task. I thought,
"Shit, why is this happening now, somebody's going to call the police on me or something. What a ridiculous situation, it's almost like..."

I looked at my hand. It was chubby and had about nine fingers. "Oh," I smiled. I turned to the disapproving onlookers and gave them the finger. Clarity was restored, along with my motor functions. I stood up and exited by the automatic doors. Walking straight out onto the road, I was immediately hit by a car. It was a big green jeep, and the impact left a huge dent in the bonnet. The driver, a middle-aged, balding man got out and started screaming at me. I flicked him through a shop window with telekenisis and got into the car. I may have eventually lost lucidity through driving around without purpose.

      Handless (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I had just "woken up" from a lucid dream, in my own bed. I could hear someone coming up the stairs outside my room.
I think I dreamt of this because I was expecting visitors this morning. I was unbelievably drowsy. Getting out of bed was like swimming in treacle. There was a knock at my door. I stumbled over, and realised I was naked. This was enough to remind me to reality-check. I looked down at my hand. There was no hand. I saw no forearm or anything. But I could feel that I did indeed have one. I opened my bedroom door with said hand and saw a few of my friends from different places. People who have never met in real life. Some from work, others from my old school, some from elsewhere and my girlfriend- who was the actual visitor I was expecting. I was reminded of the first scene of The Matrix.

      Cuz This is Thriller! (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I was excited about going to see Inception later, which was probably the reason for the easy DILDs this morning.

I was sitting in the back seat of my dad's car. My dad was sitting beside me. We were driving along a motorway at night, and the road was lit up orange by the streetlights. I glanced into the front of the car and saw that no one was driving! I panicked for a moment, then realised what was going on. Classic dreamsign. The car stopped itself and I stepped out onto the road. My dad had disappeared and I was on my own. Some electronic music started playing and I looked up at the sky. I could see some stars, but it was mainly black. I pointed up and traced my finger across the sky to create a shooting star, which zipped across my field of vision and over the horizon.

I came to a crossroads, and couldn't see anyone in any direction. I felt slightly lonely, so I pondered a way to get some company. I snapped my fingers a few times to create a beat, and Thriller started playing. I began to do the dance- and as I had hoped, a crowd of people appeared from nowhere to back me up. I laughed at the fact that it had actually worked, and kept on dancing.

Later on, I wound up sliding down some sand dunes on a rug. I was going pretty fast, heading for the sea. Right at the point where I hit the water, I realised my phone was still in my pocket. Wet phone, another classic. It crops up more and more these days. I stood up in the knee-deep water, a bit annoyed that my jeans were soaking wet, before levitating up in the air and shaking myself off. I spent a long time flying superman-style between small rocky islands in the shallows, but ended up back on the beach after a while.

Something strange was going on. There were people running back up the sand dunes, trying to get away from some woman. She was short, stout, and had her hair in a bun. She yelled after the people trying to escape, then produced a circular blade from her breast pocket. I realised she was about to throw it at them. As soon as it left her hand, I took control of it with telekinesis. I guided it round in a loop with my finger, like a boomerang, back at the woman. She screamed something unintelligible at me, and I lost control of the blade before it hit her. It stopped in mid-air, and shot off after the people again.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked her threateningly. She simply glared at me and smiled as the blade sliced a few people up and went after more. I lifted her up by her collar. "Stop the blade, or I swear I'll kill you," I said. A few seconds passed with no reply from her, so I set her back down and ripped off her head with one tug. The body stood swaying, then a single spurt of blood shot out the top of the neck, and it fell backwards. "Warned her, like."

In a later dream, I found myself in a very close recreation of my old house. I think it was the place itself which turned me lucid. I opened the front door with a wave of my hand and stood on the step. It was evening, and a tiny car was driving past. I decided to race it down the street. I took off flying above it, at a fairly decent speed! I was surprised that I was able to fly quickly this time- without employing any real techniques.

"We can't give the Sword of a Thousand Truths to a NOOB!" (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I haven't had a World of Warcraft-based dream in a while! Serenity should like this one.

I was exploring a frozen wilderness with some sort of companion who I cannot now remember. Whoever it was, was female. We were off at the side of a road, peering into a small cave which led underneath the road itself. It was a clear day, but bitterly cold. My companion told me the Lich King was likely to be in the vicinity, and that was the cause of the low temperature. I was a little concerned, but something glinting in a frozen pond just inside the cave caught my attention. I couldn't quite focus on it, even after focefully blinking a few times. I looked at my hand. It was completely fucked. A few fingers were melded into one, and several were missing altogether. Now more confident, I stepped over to the frozen pond to investigate. Beneath the ice was a sword. But not just any sword. I recognised it immediately as the one belonging to the Lich King himself. It was a huge two-hander, and the blade was glowing with a freezing blue aura. I punched though the ice and pulled it out. The handle was unbelievably cold.

I ran out of the cave with it, and found myself on a frozen lake. Then I remembered the last time I had seen this sword. I was watching the opening video for the WoW expansion- Wrath of the Lich King. The Lich King had used it to summon an enormous skeletal dragon. It was a lightbulb moment. I raised the sword high above my head, and thrust it down into the ice. The whole area started to shake, and cracks formed, zigzagging out from the sword. I stepped back cautiously.
I'll post a video which basically shows just what happened.

      Watch from 1:20

The dragon's head burst through the ice right below where I was standing, which threw me hundreds of metres up in the air. I got that roller coaster falling-feeling that I hate, so I slowed time down a bit to watch the dragon's emergence in slow motion. It clambered out of the ice, and I noticed that instead of the blue innards it had in that awesome video, it was glowing purple. I timed my fall carefully, and landed on its back, between the shoulder blades. I grasped two small bones in its neck, and pulled backwards. The dragon flapped its enormous wings and flew straight up. I leant forward and it flew forward. I think I forgot I was dreaming for the rest of this, but I flew around for a while burning settlements and decimating armies with the dragon's purple flame-breath.

      Run Back to Sleep (DEILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I was staying in my girlfriend's house, having partied hard the night before. I felt myself waking up and decided to prevent it.

I thought, "No way I'm letting myself wake up here, think of the hangover!" So I blocked out the feeling of my real body (which had passed out in a strange position anyway) and started running. At first I was just running along a nondescript flat surface, with very little feeling in my arms and legs. But after a few metres, the integration stepped up a notch. I was physically pumping my arms and legs, sprinting with full control of my body. As I looked around, I saw I was in a random street, not unlike the area I was staying in. I felt my real eyes moving to look around. But intstead of the back of my eyelids, I was seeing a non-existent street. I kept running until I was sure there was no chance of me waking up again.

It was strange to me that I was able to "run" back to sleep, run away from waking up. And it felt like real running. The brain was obviously telling the body to run like normal- but with sleep paralysis, a virtual body was substituted, although it felt no less real.

      What Should I See? (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I became lucid after I entered my house. The trigger was that I wasn't sure which of my houses it was. As in, I couldn't tell if it was my current or old house. I thought, "This is a classic dreamsign. Now which house is it supposed to be?" I looked around, trying to take everything in- to identify my surroundings. At the same time, I was half thinking about what both houses looked like. I got kind of a visual overload, with barely any focus on any scene- and I went into blackness.

Now normally, this is wake-up material. But I paused and kept a sense of my dream body, and pondered for a minute. I decided to be totally passive. Just look, and see what was there- not what I thought should be there. The hall of my old house reformed around me and I was back in.

      Hermaphrodite (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I had to record this one. Even though it'll make me sound like a freak! Read with caution, and please don't judge!

I woke up in a double bed in a homely bedroom. The decor was light browns and creams. I knew that I had temporarily changed gender, and I was going to have to chose one of several gender variations to be stuck with for the rest of my life. I stood up and looked in the big mirror on the front of the wardrobe. I was naked. I looked just like myself, but I had a vagina. This didn't cause the freak out I would have had in real life. Instead, I pondered the implications of this setup. For the rest of my life, I would only be able to have proper sex with dudes. This, I was not up for. I shook my head and "Hmmm"-ed to myself.

I woke up again in the same bed. I got up to look at myself. I had the body of an incredibly hot brunette woman. With a penis. I was shocked at my own attractiveness. Sexual narcissism aside, I looked awesome. I felt my new breasts, which I was very surprised to find had feeling in them. Having a new, working body part is weird. But I had a penis still. "Hmmm" I pondered. If I was to go with this variation, I could still have normal sex with women. They would just have to be lesbians. Looking at myself though, I reckoned I would have no trouble at all bagging a hot lesbian. I definitely preferred this over the last option.

I know... Freud must be banging to get out of his coffin...

Lucid Memories from a Night (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

There were quite a few DILDs throughout the night, so I'm just going to throw together the fragments I can remember.

Part 1: I discovered a new way to teleport (with about an 80% success rate). I let myself fall forward, flat onto the floor while visualising the place I wanted to be. I fell through the floor and found myself at that location. I did it quite a few times while running round a campsite at night. I wanted to get from A to B quickly, because I knew if I tried to run it I might get distracted and lose lucidity.

Part 2: I was on a dark freeway at night. The only vehicles were impossibly large trucks travelling at like 90mph. I was curious to see what would happen if one hit me, so I stepped out in front of a massive green one. WHAM! It hit me flat in the front and carried me along for a few metres before I dropped down and got run over by it. I felt the full force of the impact, but it wasn't painfull at all. I got up and tried again. This time I phased right through the truck, and was left standing alone on an empty road.

My wet phone dreamsign is sticking with me. I was on a beach, using my phone and set it down on the sand. I turned around for two seconds and when I looked back, a wave swept over it and completely submerged it. I pulled it straight out and wiped it with a towel. It worked fine (duh). It seems my subconscious has accepted my new Blackberry as my current phone. The past few months I've had a couple of different phones, and my dreams always picked the wrong one to soak. I've become quite attached to the Blackberry now though, and my subconscious is determined to destroy it.

      Clutter (WILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I've been getting less recall lately, and very little time whatsoever to write down dreams. It's the weekend now though, and I had a WILD this morning I thought I might as well share. I was lying on my back, and was pretty knackered, which I think helped the process along. Images and scenes were just floating through my brain for a while, which I just observed without much thought. When they became less disjointed and started running smoothly, I paid a bit more attention. I could see upstairs in my parents' room in my old house. I looked around and moved my focus out into the landing. Snap. Everything clicked into place and the clarity increased massively. It seemed like a light had just been switched on in the dreamworld. Everything looked very real, and I recognised lots of old objects I hadn't seen in years. I walked down the landing into my old bedroom, which was full of clutter. The table from my current conservatory was set up beside the window, and was covered in strange hand-made models- like the kind of things you used to make in school. I examined a few things. They seemed familiar, but I couldn't place them. There was a poster for what appeared to be a boxing tournament, but the writing didn't make any sense.

I looked out the window. The ground was wet, as if it had been raining earlier. I didn't know what to do with myself, so I climbed out the window onto the roof. From there, I ran and leapt off the roof, gliding at a slightly upwards angle across the street and over some houses.
This is where it gets hard to remember. I think I went streaking at some kind of sporting event. I remember having to make 1000% sure I was dreaming before running out though.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I was in a very unconvincing supermarket when I did a reality-check. It was a dream, as I suspected. Everything seemed too shiny or something. I jumped onto the top of a tall shelf and started running from shelf to shelf, jumping between them. The end one wobbled when I stood on it, and I fell face first onto the tiles below. I literally faceplanted from over 5 metres up. My neck snapped back, and the back of my head touched my back. My lower body and legs bent over the top. There was quite a crunch. Then the shelf fell on me. I found the feeling interesting, and was glad to be able to have that experience in a dream rather than real life. That could've gotten ugly!

I've spammed the DJ section with my posts long enough! Now that I've finished moving all my dreams over from my old thread I'll only be posting new dreams as they come. Of course... in the time between the old thread closing and now I've built up a backlog of new dreams that have yet to be posted...
