I couldn't fly :(

This morning I had an LD again after almost 2 months with a few false awakenings.
I have no idea how I became lucid, somehow the memory of that is gone, but I remember parts of my non-lucid dream before it, and I recall trying to change things knowing that's possible in dreams. I was trying to prevent a murder by moving him away by just thinking of it .
Anyway when I became lucid, I watched my sleeping self smiling (not in the same room I sleep in), then I tried to fly or float for the first time, and failed although I really believed I could do it.
I moved on to not waste time, and tried to change the scene by spinning, again nothing, so I tried to imagine some fancy door that leads to another place, and I did it. I created a door but it didn't look like I imagined, just a simple white door.
I went in anyway, and again not the natural scene I tried to create. I found a house with old styled furniture. I checked a newspaper and it was 1909, It felt like I traveled back in time, and I remember feeling younger (of course I wasn't born yet in 1909 ).
I remember having some false flashbacks in that house (related to my waking life not the house) so I guess my lucidity was fading after I crossed the door because I don't recall making decisions while exploring the house like I usually do. I also remember talking to a character from a TV show that I watch currently who offered me fries and some food, then I woke up.
For the first time, I wasn't really happy and excited when I woke up. I guess because I was disappointed I couldn't do something as simple as flying , I tried to push up many times to at least float, but didn't work.
What do you guys do to fly? and can you be half-lucid during some parts of your lucid dream? I was still aware I was dreaming, but I think I didn't have full control over my character after I crossed the door.
