Non-Lucid Dreams
I'm in my living room with a group of friends. One of them finds an old mirror and looks at it. They let out a yell, obviously seeing something terrifying in the mirror. She asks me if I want to see the scariest thing in the universe... Curiously cautious, I gesture for her to pass me the mirror and look at it. Images of dinosaurs flashed before me for a few moments. Then the moment came: I've never been soo terrified and frightened before in my life! Without choice, I immediately let out a scream and threw the mirror. Then I realized it was just an image of my face. It was in a different expression than I had, but still definitely just my very own face. Once I realized it was me, I started to laugh uncontrollably. How did I scare myself so much? I laughed so hard I woke up, and continued to laugh in bed for a while before actually getting up.
I am listening to one of my favorite bands through earphones, and take the earphones off to do something else, but the music remains at the same volume. I check, and I am still wearing the earphones. I take them off again, being extra sure that I removed them. Holding them in my hand, looking right at them, the music is still at the same volume. I also feel them in my ears at the same time. I drop the pair I'm holding and feel another pair in my ears again. My room mate comes up to me to tell me something, but I can't hear her over the music. I take the earphones out, but the music is still just as loud and I can't hear her over it. I focus really intently on reading her lips, but only get part of what she's saying this way. I take the earphones out several times as she is speaking, but the music never gets quieter. Maybe I'm dreaming? I pinch my nose and cannot breathe. I look at my frame of reference, notice my nose is slightly visible as usual, as well as my face around my eyes. I try to put my finger through my hand, it won't go through. I look at my hands, I have the normal number of fingers: 4 and a thumb on each hand. "I guess I'm just going crazy then" I conclude, still unable to stop the music. I wonder if I am just unable to remove the headphones and am hallucinating my attempts to get them off, or if I am just hearing the music in my head without headphones.... In either case, the music is awesome, so I don't really mind it at all. I sing along for a bit, realizing I don't know the words, I let the song continue. I figured I would know the words if it's in my head, but I don't. I keep taking the earphones out, only to hear the music just the same, and to immediately find the earphones are still in my ears. A large dog is sleeping nearby. Now it is a horse, the size of a huge dog. It has wedged itself comfortably behind some furniture and wants to get out. I move the furniture a little, and it squeezes through, now in dog aspect again. Turning around, it squeezes back into the furniture, between the frame of a table with no top. It is a large fluffy dog at this point, it lays down, completely comfortable and relaxed. I feel relaxed just looking at it curl up over there. I wake up and realize I fell asleep with my headphones on, playing the exact same music. Complete continuity from the dream music to the music I'm hearing now. Maybe I woke up briefly for the RCs, and due to the continuity of music, didn't know I was awake? A crucial element was missing from my RCs however: Truly believing this might in fact be a dream. Instead of this, I was merely wanting it to be a dream.
Watching a large group of A-10 bombers approach the airbase at night. They are really low to the ground, just about to land. I notice another group of aircraft, like F-16s, approaching to bomb the entire base. I don't want anyone to get hurt so I manage to call off the landing just by willing it. I overhear some radio communication directing them to land at the southern airfield miles away. As the A-10s pull up, and begin their slow flight to the south, I see several F-16s crash nose first straight into the ground. Oddly, nothing explodes, and just the nose cone crumples a bit like a car crash. It seems like the pilots are okay, just really bad at Kamikaze attacks. I hear on the radio again that we can do what the enemy pilots are doing. "Kamikaze strikes?" I ask. "No, just fight back" I am told. That all seems unnecessary to me.
I am some sort of god-like entity, an awareness with power, lacking physical form, helping a large group of people and animals live their lives. I become aware that there is a hostile ship, going to another land to bring back nuclear weapons to use against everyone on the island I am familiar with. Going over to it, I attempt to stop it with lightning strikes. Despite several direct hits on the ship, it continues on and reaches the distant shore to pick up the nuclear weapons. I take human form, and go to speak with the leader of this operation, but he kills me before I can do or say anything right as I enter a wooden lodge he is in. Still having an awareness of what's going on in the lodge, a large group of women enter, all dressed the same, all with their hands in their identical bags. They surround him and say something to the effect of, "You had this coming for a long time, now the time has come" He tries to run, but a group of women hold him as he is assassinated. All the women had guns in their bags. Now a young boy just on the outskirts of the town, holding hands with a young girl, we watch the town mill about. People going here and there. Boats coming and going. The large ship from earlier has turned into a smaller ship with no where to go. Very peaceful, a dam slowly raises out of the nearby river, filling a large reservoir.
Hiking up a mountain with a friend, we take a short break at a cliff that overlooks the trail head below, trying to spot the others that were coming with us. I hear them below, just a few paces into the woods, but they seem to be taking a really long time to move anywhere. A truck pulls up right next to the trail head, and two people get out of it. They seem to know that there is some sort of wisdom within this mountain, and they want to use it to win the lottery. From my position on the mountain, I know that I can give them the winning numbers, but I believe that giving them wisdom would be much better in the long run. I step out of view so they cannot see me to demand the numbers. I start to summon the wisdom of the mountain to give to them, and as I do so, my friend who is with me tells them the winning lottery numbers at the same time. Now they have both! I guess that's okay too.
Standing in a large warehouse, I hear a lot of noises and yelling up on the next floor. Some guy is really angry up there. I look up the stairs just in time to see a Molotov cocktail bounce down the stairs without breaking. My cell phone manages to allow me to create grenades, which I throw up the stairs at the angry guy. I can't see what happens, and then remember the Molotov cocktail seems more like a bomb, with a burning rag as the fuse. As it explodes, the shock wave sends me flying 15 meters through the air, landing face down in a man made river. I lay there disoriented for a bit, until I need to breathe again, and pull myself out. The dream sort of resets a bit here, and the angry guy is not trying to kill me. We both need to charge my phone so that we can again have access to machine guns, grenades and other weapons. I must have an app that makes all this possible. We are riding in the back of a pickup truck to some place to plug my phone in. Arriving at my back porch in the winter, I plug it into an electrical outlet outside the house and let it charge. The guy with me runs down the hill to my neighbor's house and starts destroying their yard. He pulls the fence out of the ground, throws it into the yard, and starts digging large holes quite quickly. I run down there to try to mitigate the situation. Holding part of the fence to try to put it back where it goes, my neighbor comes outside, sees me with the fence, next to the chaos, and assumes I am responsible for all of this. Before he gets a chance to say anything to me, a motorist pulls into his driveway, and asks how to get out because there's no room to turn around. My neighbor tells him to turn around in the street. The motorist doesn't listen, and instead turns around in the yard, leaving deep tire tracks that tear up the grass leaving deep ruts behind. My neighbor just gives up on his yard at this point, shaking his head in disappointment with humanity as he goes back inside. The angry guy, still visibly angry, seems satisfied with the destruction he has caused, and gets back into the pickup truck. I'm standing in the back of it, looking over the cab as we drive off. My friend is driving us, and just as we turn onto a more substantial dirt road, his dog runs under the truck, out the front end of it, and down the road ahead of us much faster than we're driving. Briefly looking back at us over his shoulder, the dog gives us a look as if to say, aren't you coming with me? The scenery instantly transforms into a cell phone store, where the salesman is talking me into upgrading my phone to a Galaxy or something like that for $35. It takes better pictures, but I don't know if it works like the iPhone in terms of music playback capability, so I hesitate to go for it. I ask the salesman about the app I currently have for explosives and machine guns. He tells me that one is no longer available on these newer phones. I am a bit bummed out about that.
The slapping part is in red. Riding my bicycle to work at night, I get too close to a police trap and trigger a bunch of flashing lights and end up with a police SUV tailing me on my bicycle. I make sure I do everything according to the rules of bike traffic, and glance at my cell phone to check the time as I wait for the crosswalk signal to flash "Walk". All this hassle works, and the police leave me alone. Phew. Walking into work, it's my first day on the job, but I know where my cube is. Only it's down a long hallway, with lots of wooden desks and chairs in the way. Climbing over them, crawling under others, I greet a few new co-workers as I make my way past. One of them tells me about Bob who always mistakes people for other things as they climb over the desks. Finally arriving at my desk in a little cubicle, I try to clock in on the computer really quickly, I'm already 18 minutes past 3. Even though I don't yet have a work schedule, I feel like I should have been there earlier. I enter my login ID, and type the password too quickly, making a mistake. As I attempt to correct it, the manager's secretary approaches me and places her hand on my keyboard telling me, "We're firing you". "It's my first day, why are you firing me?" "You'll have to ask the owner." She says matter of factly before she takes a step back from my desk. I just quit a stable job because my friend works here and really enjoys it. I start to think I quit too soon, and think about how to get reinstated at my old job. She then motions for me to follow her as she is escorting me off the premises. "I would like to speak with the owner" I tell her as we near the main office area. She opens the door to a large office with "Harry" written on the door. Harry looks really pissed off: red faced, sort of sweating, jittery with rage. "Why are you firing me?" I ask sincerely looking for any reason. "Because you were screwing around on your phone!" "But I didn't even use my phone!" "Well, I tried to call you before you got to work and you didn't answer" I think back to my trip to work, and remember when I checked the time, I had no missed calls. And also, when I got to my desk, there were still no missed calls. Humoring his reason, even though it is a lie, I tell him that, "Sometimes the traffic is loud when I'm riding my bike next to the road. How can I get fired for that?" He walks right up to me and slaps me hard across my face. I am a bit surprised, and look back at him with wide eyes. He slaps me again! "How is this making me want to keep my job?" I ask him, only to get another slap. I just take it like a champion boxer because I would like to keep this job, and the odds of doing so would be really low if I retaliated. I stare at him, waiting for an answer, only to get punched square in the nose, then again in the forehead. Tired of being a human punching bag after taking another punch to the jaw, I tell him, "Fine, I'm leaving" and walk out of his office. While attaching my bike bags, and pant straps to get ready to bike home, I overhear the secretary tell the owner that they can't just fire me like that. I would first have to temporarily suspended, then allowed a second chance. Encouraged, I turn back to the front desk and see both the secretary and Harry behind safety glass like at a ticket booth. Harry is ignoring me, and the secretary asks me, "What do you want?" "I'd like to speak with Harry" I tell her. She gestures for me to walk over to his side of the desk. 'This is the first time in my life I've appreciated safety glass' I think as I walk up to Harry. Contemplating how to get him to work with me rather than against me I tell him, "So that we're on the same page here, I'm just suspended temporarily right? Not fired?" He nods in agreement, then tells me I still have a job. I realize he must be afraid I'll sue him and the company for firing me, or at least for the beating he just gave me. I don't plan on it, I just want to have a job so I can buy food. Feeling like I've now got an Ace up my sleeve, and immunity from being fired, I ride my bike back home. Arriving home, my house is in a large parking lot, with a highway overpass going above it, just next to the front door. Someone in the parking lot asks me how I am able to get any sleep, and what it's like living so close to the road. "I don't hear it at all when I'm inside" I tell them as I sort through my key chain looking for my house key to go inside.
I am at a grocery store, standing in front of a guy from Germany who holds up a random vegetable and asks me to identify it. I got it right. A bell rings and he holds up a different one. More difficult, I manage to identify it before the bell rings again and he holds up another one. This continues for a few minutes as a bell is rung from somewhere about every 10 seconds. Then it dawns on me, that is the chime my alarm clock makes, and I should probably wake up now.
On a beautiful, warm, sunny day. Clear blue sky, puffy white clouds. Vibrant green trees all around. I feel the sun on my face, and a breeze of the perfect temperature blows. The wind speed picks up, keeping the perfect temperature, and I lean into the wind as it supports my body weight. Feels like flying, only super comfortable like I could fall asleep. I close my eyes and half wake up. I didn't even think I fell asleep during that nap, but since I had a dream, I must have
On a boat at night, filled with other people, mostly young people. They seems like kids, but could be about 18 or so. We're expecting some enemy force to attack the town we're off the coast of nearby, but waiting for more details on where the attack will be so we can position ourselves to stop it. Looking around, there are a bunch of empty boats anchored near the shore, and some street lights near the docks light up parts of the beach. Then we see it, about a dozen boats quickly pass us, landing on the far side of town. Beast-like monsters with vicious looking weapons, huge muscles, and an overall extremely dangerous looking figure, run off their ships and amass in a large group just on shore. Our captain brings us close, and we disembark not too far from them. I tell everyone not to shoot at them until we're well setup, because if we provoke them now while we're vulnerably half on the ship, half getting off, we'll all surely be killed. The monsters seem to notice us, but for some reason give us the courtesy to prepare ourselves. It becomes very clear that we're hugely out-numbered about 10 to 1, and this is a suicide mission. Our leader has us line up in a double file line facing our attackers. This seems stupid to me, like a sure way to set up the worst defense in history, but I can't change his mind. To my disappointment, I am shuffled to the second row, right in the front. You know, where death is 100% certain against a huge group of beasts like this. I turn to the person on my left and choking back tears tell him, "It's a good day to die" while I think, "I don't really want to die today" It's sad because this seems really pointless. Someone announces to us that there is coffee and donuts inside just behind us. I don't like coffee or donuts, but since I'm just about to be fighting a huge number of beasts, maybe if I'm hopped up on caffeine, I'll be able to shoot them quicker, so I go inside. There is a table set up where two people are serving everyone espresso shots and tiny muffins. I take one of each, eat the muffin in one bite, and sip on the espresso shot because it's too hot to drink. I walk back outside, finish the espresso, and find myself in the back of the line now thinking, "This is a much safer spot to be. Since I am good at shooting, I can help better from back here" But I see they have saved my spot up at the front... I solemnly walk back up to the front, and think about how no one wants to be in the front, so it might as well be me. At least I can spare someone else the terror of being amongst the first to die. Thinking about everyone else, and how fearful they must be, I'm not so sad about our situation. I just accept my position in the front for everyone else's sake, and peacefully wait for the battle to begin. With the sound of gunfire and screams, everything goes dark brown, I see a hideous eye get so close it appears bigger than me, then I feel like I am inside a large mouth with massive fangs, and all other sounds get really muffled, then stops. Now everything is black. That same glittering blackness when you close your eyes in the dark.
Somehow, I am Arnold Schwarzenegger in the prime of his body building career. Jogging down the street, a pack of vicious beasts, sort of like a cross between wild boars, and jackals, surrounds me, snarling and baring their teeth. Saliva dripping from their mouths, they intend to tear me to pieces. One of them jumps at me, I grab it by the upper jaw and my other hand on its lower jaw, and rip its face in half. The other beasts see this and run away, leaving me in peace. I remember that it is very important to retrieve something from a nearby store. Something that is rightfully mine, that I now have to 'steal' to recover. I go into the store, and find it. That was easy. I turn around to leave, but the staff, all magical elves, are blocking my exit, telling me to put it back. I know I'm just doing what's right here, so I ignore them and walk through a group of them. I'm too big for them to stop me, and their pulling at my arms and legs hardly slows me down at all. One of the elves jumps up in front of me, and sprinkles some glittery powder all over my hands and the objects I am holding. It burns a little, but not very much. The elf laughs as he hops away at they let me leave. Before I get to the exit, everything I am holding starts fading in and out of reality, eventually disappearing all together. Now I understand what that powder was for - to keep people from walking out with stuff without paying for it...
I notice a painful sensation in my lower jaw on the left side, and investigate it with my tongue. There is a sharp edge where things should be smooth, on the first of the back teeth (the wide ones). I poke at it with my tongue some more to see what's going on with it, and it comes loose! I spit it into my hand, and find it is the top bit of one of my major chewing teeth, just minus the roots, and the insides. It's like a shell of a tooth, sort of like how a crab leaves a thin shell behind to grow a bigger one. I feel the spot where the tooth was again, and it is really smooth now, and a smooth bony lump where the tooth was. I know teeth can grow back, so I am happy that I will soon get a new, stronger exo-tooth in its place! It feels like trading in an old car for a new, more powerful model, just with a little wait time before getting to drive it. There are some tough looking thugs standing around me. I become aware of their presence and decide that if I were them, I'd like some warning about this kind of thing. So I warn them that I had no indication that anything was going to happen before it fell out, just a few seconds. Very odd.
Sitting down to eat a big bowl of rice with fried vegetables, I decide to spice it up with some hot sauce. I take the cap off a bottle of Dave's Insanity Sauce "The Hottest Sauce in the Universe" and pour an insane amount onto my rice. I mix it in and taste it a little. It's really good. I add lots more until the whole meal is red from the sauce and gobble it down. Half way through the feast, I think it's strange how I am managing to survive such a spicy sauce in this amount. But it's delicious! So I just enjoy it.
In a high speed pursuit with 3 friends in the car, I sit in the passenger seat, grabbing onto the armrest of the car as we weave in and out of traffic. The roads are snowy and very slippery. A police car rides up along side us, and nudges our car into oncoming traffic. We dodge the traffic, but the police end up in several head on collisions, taking out all of the pursuing police. We stop to get gas, and everyone waits inside the car except the driver, who goes inside to pay. We forgot the police were after us, and a cop car is parked just to our right. Out of the corner of my eye, I think I see a female cop sneak into our car. Then the driver is definitely arrested at gun point in the gas station. My friend jumps into the driver's seat and takes off back onto the highway. Not soon after we reach highway speeds, we spin out of control and wipe out off the road with the police close behind us. Pulled from the car, we are driven to some sort of prison. Each of us is put into a separate cell, but instead of a regular jail, it is a strange hydraulic mechanical room with hot fluids and steam going all directions through pipes. It becomes clear that we are going to be brutally tortured with these high temperature fluids. Before they can come into my cell, I close and barricade the door. I noticed a steam nozzle right outside the door, and I attempt to make it open to buy me some time, but none of the controls seem to do anything. I turn a big valve, and suddenly the room starts to fill with boiling sewage. Not what I had planned. I spot a ladder and climb up it as fast as I can to get some distance from the poo liquid. At the top, is another level, sort of like a hallway, and my friend from the car is up there! "That was a close call with the hot water" I tell him as he shushes me, pointing to the 3rd level above us where a guard is patrolling, unaware of our presence. We sneak up to the next floor, and whack the guard on the back of the head with a fire extinguisher, knocking the guard unconscious. I take the gun, and notice that this guard was the same cop that snuck into our car earlier at the gas station. The boiling sewage begins to fill the second level and continues to rise. We climb up to a fourth level, and run to a door at the end of a bridge/hallway. Reminds me of Metal Gear Solid. I open the door, and see a massive room, with huge pipes below. We are looking down on it from about 5 floors high. Very low lighting down there. There is one guard, dressed in camouflage, and holding a mean-looking grenade launcher. My friend and I are quiet as I wait for this guard to patrol into the open so I can get an easy shot on him. He's not doing it, so my friend takes a flashlight, narrows the light beam, and shines it to the far side of the room below yelling, "They're over there!" I think he just gave away our position, but it actually worked. The guard looks right at where the light was, and walks into the open. I take 3 shots at him, and just hit strong body armor. The guard swings the grenade launcher our direction and fires a shot. I close the door just enough to deflect the grenade down the hallway we came from, where it explodes, killing the guard we had knocked unconscious. I quickly try to fire more shots at the guard, but for some reason, the gun doesn't work. It almost does, everything feels right about shooting, it even kicks back, but no bullets are flying through the air. The guard also seems unable to fire at us. Really low on ammo, I concentrate hard, and manage to fire 2 more shots, hitting the guard in the chest, and then wake up.
I get dropped off at a mountain resort in the winter. There are people getting barbeque grills ready for a weekend event. Mostly sales people, all wearing red. I have some charcoal in my hand for some reason. I walk through the main sales road and put the briquettes on the last grill with an open flame just as the sales person raised the metal grate to adjust the gas burner. He gives me a weird look after I snuck the charcoal into his grill, but I walk away before he says anything. It felt like the right thing to do anyway. I reach a hill-top party area, with a few large groups of people. I am shuffled into a circle with an intimidating group of about 20 older men, all giving me mean looks. Terrified, I introduce myself to each of them, doing my best to remember their names and whatever they say about themselves. One in particular is especially scary, wearing camouflage, very tan, and in need of a shave. He's a large guy, looks like he could rip me in half with little effort. I remember he said he fought in Veitnam. I personally don't support fighting and killing, but decided to thank him for fighting for my sake anyway. Even if I don't agree with what he did, he seems proud of it, so I thank him for his reality of what he did and why, not for mine. The whole group seems to recognize my respect for them, and relaxes, including me in their discussion. Somehow it turns into me leading a chant in regard to the food that we're eating, but it just doesn't work. There's too many words, and the rhythm is way off. I stop chanting, and they are a bit disappointed, urging me to continue. "It isn't a good chant, it doesn't sound right" I tell them. I start a new chant with all of them, "Cheese please, give us some cheese... cheese please, give us some cheese..." It sounds much better, and has a good rhythm. We all get into it, and to our surprise, a girl comes by with large trays of mostly cheese. I'm not sure what it is, but it has three layers of melted cheese, with maybe some thin tortilla chips separating the layers with a good crunch. It looks absolutely amazing. The girl walks away with an impressively large slice in her hand, nibbling at it with delight. I look back to the tray and it has already been devoured! Satisfied, everyone leaves and I am left on my own on some small streets in a mountain town. I start double-jumping off walls while trying to throw a pen into a dart board. I get the wall-jumping down, but the pen just isn't sharp enough for the dart board. Frustrated, I throw it hard, and it sticks right in. I roller-blade down a big hill down to where there is a large park and a whole different climate. Now a warm summer day, I walk up to the park and notice some old basket balls and tennis balls, somewhat deteriorated, all mixed in some leaves up against the curb. There is a trash can nearby, so I take it upon myself to throw all these garbage balls away. Two girls playing catch with one another drop their ball and it rolls into some of the nasty gutter-leaves. I pick it up and toss it back to them before it gets too dirty. "What are you doing? That's gross" one of them tells me. "Well, if I don't pick them up now, they'll probably be even grosser later" The other girl suggests, "Just leave them there in the sun for a while, then they'll be all dried out, and much cleaner to work with" I think that's a good idea, but some of them will indeed be grosser if they're in a shady wet spot. I also feel like it's somehow my job to pick them up. "That's a good idea, but I think I'll just finish getting these ones for now" I tell them.
