      Mythic Dawn Hostage (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

So, this is the first of three dreams I remembered this morning. From what I recall, I was a Mythic Dawn member, a la Oblivion. I wasn't one by choice, though. My "memories" told me that they had found me almost dead, for one reason or another, and brought me back to health. So of course, I "owed" them. I never would have made it away alive if I had tried to flee them, anyway. So of course I grudgingly go along on their missions, looking for my chance.

I also know I'm in some contact with the Imperial Guard, and I have some way of demonstrating that I'm actually on their side. I'm not sure exactly how, but I think I'd made a special rip in my robes, on purpose. (Not that that makes sense, but there ya go.) I'd somehow informed the Guard that we were here in this... wait for it... pizzeria. Yup. A bunch of us are in a central room with half-height walls when a commotion breaks out at the entrance. We all drop down to the floor and lay there. One guard comes into the room and starts to drag the nearest person (me) toward the door. Then he realizes through whatever means that I'm on their side, and he invents some reason to leave us be. (He couldn't just single me out, or the other Mythic Dawn members would turn on me. I dunno why they didn't pursue him, though. I mean, didn't it seem weird for them to let us go? Ah well...)

So they leave, and my next mission is to gather 5 things from around the pizzeria, whatever they were. I don't remember. A couple times I come around and sit at a crowded, messy table, then apologize when I notice someone else is sitting there. Both times they give me some of their pizza. Whether out of generosity or fear, who knows. I can't remember anything else.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Alright, now, this was a VERY long dream, and I can't remember most of it. I dimly remember it starting on my college campus, and I also dimly remember it transitioning to more of a video-game type feel. It had interesting architecture though, like sloping tunnels. Mostly I remember it after it had transitioned to a place that felt like a location of its own.

This place looks kinda like a campus, I suppose, but the buildings are large and it's hard to find my way. Several times I get lost and end up getting into places where I'm not supposed to be. When I end up in such a room, I get some very annoyed... people? on my tail. I think they're people, anyways. They kinda remind me of Ordinators from Morrowind. In any case, they start running towards me, and my first instinct is to run away, so I do. They can easily run faster than me though, so I can't get too far before one of them catches me. When they do though, they're unarmed. They just kinda "warp" me out of where I'm supposed to be. This happens a few more times, by which point I'm no longer scared and just sheepishly hold my hands up, letting them do their job. I don't mean to get in their way, but I'm lost and nothing is easily marked. I also felt like exploring around me, too, which probably didn't help. At some point I turn to a guy next to me and remark, "If these rooms were well-marked I wouldn't be getting into nearly as much trouble."

It turns out this guy is a very friendly sort, and we just wander around the courtyard type of setting I am in, chatting. I'm pretty hazy on his appearance, but he's a pretty scrawny-looking guy. Pretty thin, a little short, but also a nice guy. I think he was black, though I'm not sure. He had kinda long hair, though I don't remember the color. As far as clothing goes, he is wearing some sort of beanie on his head, though sometimes it's there, and sometimes not. I think he was wearing standard t-shirt and jeans clothing. He looks to be about my age, too (20).

I forget when, but sometime around this point I realize that I'm dreaming. I don't recall making a big deal out of it or even commenting on it much, though, I just take it all in stride. I feel like I asked him about a ton of stuff, although I sadly can't remember most of it. Here's some transcripts more or less paraphrased from towards the end of the dream, remembered to the best of my ability:

Me: *notices him starting to walk off* Hey, wait a sec!
      Him: *turns and looks back*
Me: Um, can you tell me who you really are? And don't say anything silly like, "Oh, I was this guy in a past life"...
Him: *smirking* What, so you can try to find me in real life when I have no clue what's going on? (He's implying he'll forget this all when he wakes up) *he turns and starts going back the other way*
Me: Heh, well, you don't have to tell me, I guess. I'm just terminally curious... that's why I'm here.

(He decided to stick around a bit longer)
(Later, we're near an empty cop car, and I'm just kinda floating/flying in the air, chilling)

Him: *Gives me a look that seems to say, "Oh, how jeuvenile"*
Me: Hey, it's just one of my guilty pleasures.
Him: Well, just hope a police cruiser doesn't come by.
Me: *floats a bit higher* Well, I'd like to see them try to catch me.
Him: Hey, don't underestimate them. They're actually pretty good.
Me: Yeah? How high up would I have to be?
Him: You'd have to be... on the moon. *We both look up to see the moon*
Me: Hmm... that might be a problem then.
      Him: Why?
Me: I don't know how I'm going to get up there before I wake up. *As if on cue, my dream starts fading*
Him: Oh, look what you did now! (I think he's stifling a laugh at this point. He's definitely more amused than annoyed)
      Me: *wakes up*

Well, that's all I can remember. For a dream that seemed to be mostly unbidden, I'm very impressed though. I think it's time to get back into lucid dreaming. I am curious if any of you DVers find this oddly familar, though. I'm willing to entertain the notion of a shared dream, though that'd be weird considering I don't really know any of you. xD

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This dream was really the end of a longer dream that I can't quite remember. What I can tell you is that the rest of the dream was rather disjointed, and involved random things happening. The last non-lucid part that I remember involved a bunch of broken glass all over the room (from some rowdy guest or something? There were a bunch of nameless faces here, I think). I had to grab my little brother Jared and carry him out of there. Only thing was, he looked nothing like my actual brother. My little brother's also almost my size, both in the dream and in real life. Don't ask how I carried him, I don't know.

The part where my recall really picks up is right after this part. We're in one of our old houses that we moved out of a couple years back. Only me and my dad are here for some reason. He gestures towards, I believe, the kitchen and says "The purple is over there." Usually it takes something more absurd than that to make me wonder, but he was treating purple like it was an object. Anyways, I'm naturally curious now, and pick on him a bit for it. ("'The purple is over there...' Now how is that gonna help me Dad? Seriously? Purple?") I don't remember his response. Still curious, I hop up into the air, and float slowly down.
This is the only reality check I need, and I become lucid. Satisfied, I walk out of the house to try the thing that always comes to mind when I'm lucid without a plan -- flying. I step out and try a few smaller jumps, like off our porch, with limited success.

Here, though, I pause a moment to take in the scenery. The trees, the path and all, look beautiful. For just a moment, I slip into a bit of fuller awareness. The dream looks every bit as vivid as daily life, if not more, and I truly feel like I'm there. I savor this a bit longer before running off to try flying some more.

I'm lucid enough to realize the path isn't right here --it splits into two before reaching the road again, when it's really just a driveway. There were probably other inconsistancies, there always are, but I didn't pick up on them this time. I cross the road by our house, and on the other side there's a veritable cliff, which I jump off of without a second thought. Now I start gliding, with varying success. I glide level for a bit, then start to drop faster, which eases up as I get closer to the ground. Here I'm wavering, sometimes falling a bit, sometimes staying level, and sometimes actually rising a bit. All while I'm gliding forward at a respectable speed.
(I don't get the full effect of the wind on my skin, but I get some, and I consider this a success. It's certainly better than I normally manage.) As I start dipping towards the ground, approaching an ocean, my vision fades to black. It briefly comes back again when I land in the ocean. I turn around to see that I'm at the shore, and could climb up the beach, but the dream fades again before I can do much else.

      Subconscious Shenanigans (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Unfortunately I don't remember this one all that well (I need to work on recall!) but it was indeed alucid dream. I believe this was led into from another dream. From what I can remember, it seems as though I was lucid the entire time. I had intended to communicate with my subconscious the next time I became lucid, so that is what I was trying to do. I remember looking over a rather scenic landscape, and chatting with several people who are all parts of my subconscious, or so it seems. The scene pans quite a bit, and by the end I'm on a floating platform of sorts... tied to a tree, I think? I can't really remember.

Somewhere about halfway through the dream I notice that my "dream" only fills a rectangle in my field of vision.
(Think the Animus from Assassin's Creed. I've been playing that a lot the past couple days.) I can see and hear my friend Andy off to the left, and he can hear what I'm saying to these parts of my subconscious. I'm not lucid enough to realize this isn't possible. As for what I actually ask my subconscious, I'm not quite sure. I know I didn't get to ask everything I wanted to. I only clearly remember the bit at the end, though I recall several people. There was also a robot sort of thing that I couldn't really understand. Mainly I was talking to this jolly, but VERY fat man. Towards the end he puts on a record which has some recorded burp-type sounds on a baseline of sorts, which I think is a meme I've heard. (It isn't, but sadly it isn't far off...)

I remember asking in joking disbelief, "have the memes really sunk in this far...?"

He responded, "Well, perhaps you haven't heard this one, but somebody did, on _____" (some website, I can't remember. Think like Pandora radio or Last.fm)

"So what, is it like in the hivemind then, or something?" I joked. I don't remember his response. Around this time, the one question I do remember asking is about having more lucid dreams, to which he answers, "Just be yourself, and keep doing what you've been doing." The advice doesn't seem too helpful, but on the other hand... I did something right. He ends up leaving saying, "Sorry, I gotta go. I'm gonna be on TV soon, you know."

"Yeah, I'm sure you're just wildly popular," I laugh. He motions to a woman that's there suggesting that she's the popular one. There was also some random man there, but I didn't end up talking to either of them. The dream faded before I got to ask the other questions I wanted to, like about intuition and the paranormal.

Mars-Base ... Space Soap Opera? ... Nuke the MOON (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Right, so, this dream is long and crazy. I'll piece it together as best I can. The first part involved some unnamed guy having developed, or discovered, a teleporter to and from Mars. It worked very cheaply and harmlessly. This guy and a bunch of his friends are going to and from Mars trying to set up an infrastructure and base there. I tag along at some point to see how it's going, and it looks very much like a town on Earth (with a vaguely Western-movie-style decor, might I add). They already have buildings up, nobody seems to need spacesuits, and they have electricity and computers, and cellphones. And they somehow have a wireless network up for those. That one still confuses me... At some point during all of this, I talk with one of them and they're almost giddy. "The best part of this is," he said, "NASA doesn't know about this yet. Wait till you see the looks on their faces!" Also at some point, they were discussing trying to get some grass planted, and I mused aloud whether it would be cooler to have a lush yard on Mars, or to have that alien-looking red dirt in front of your house. Towards the end, I was telling my friends lightheartedly that they were great and all, but if I could sleep on Mars tonight, I WOULD.

This second part is fuzzy, and I think I'm only an observer. I see short bits of a lot of people's daily lives, nothing too exciting going on. I assume this is on the same Mars-base, but I'm not sure. Somewhere in the middle of all this, there's a military guy that has that "only the audience can hear you" power. He motions to the guy next to him and rattles off a name and designation that I can't remember. Then he says something like, "He seems pretty normal, right? Well, one time I went out with him, and...." He fades out as I see more people going about their daily lives. This was pretty short and disjointed, but I swear it sounds like an ad for a soap opera, looking back.

Finally, at the end, I'm telling my little brother Jared about how you might get some oxygen on the moon... only I use the WORST possible option imaginable! My faulty logic went something like, "Well, if you set off a nuke somewhere on the moon, with all those elements colliding and bouncing around you're bound to get SOME oxygen out of it! Then you just need to place a roof over it..."
Yeah, completely worth the total destruction, right? I confuse myself sometimes... anyways, that's all I can remember.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This is just a short fragment, but I remember being in some sort of school setting. My friends Andy and Ganey are there, as well as some sort of other guy... either a professor, or venture capitalist, or something. Anyways, Ganey is showing off to us, as basically he has a submarine. We're all in the classroom watching him remote control a submarine. Not only that, his submarine can not only submerge, of course, but FLY. Yes, it can rise right out of the water and hover in the air. I remember being simultaneously confused and amazed by this. It's hilarious in retrospect, really. Anyway, that's all I can remember.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This dream is pretty fragmented, but from what I do remember, it takes place right before heading back to college, and I'm contemplating whether to "reincarnate" (those of you who play the Disgaea series, think reincarnation or transmigration from that). Basically, I would become a newborn again, but have all the knowledge I currently have now. I don't know HOW that would work, or how a newborn would ever survive college anyways. The other part of the dream that I remember is when I actually get to college. I'm good old me, so I guess I decided not to "reincarnate". The interesting thing is, apparently my school is now on one of JUPITER'S MOONS (I wanna say Triton). Of course, this doesn't seem out of the ordinary for me. I remember having landed on Triton and being next to some sort of volcano. I pull up a sort of map on the "HUD" (apparently I'm in a video game now) and realize that I'm on the far west side of the map, and the campus is on the far eastern side. Since the map wraps around, though, I should be right next to it if I just turn around. That is all I remember of this crazy dream.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I've not been able to sleep well lately, being woken up with dreams in my head and all, so I guess it's time to start recording dreams again! From what I can remember, I'm back home with my family, in a house that isn't our RL house. The outdoors looks kinda like the house we had before we moved a couple years back, but the deck is in the back yard instead of the front yard, and attached to the second floor of the house (our house was only one floor high). Anyways, from what little I do rememebr, my little brother Jared wanted to do something with the wood the deck was made of. Instead of taking it normally, or of course, getting some other wood, he was repeatedly flooding our yard up to the level of the deck (this would have submerged the entire first floor of the house, but my dream ignores this). Each cycle the wood deck would get more and more warped and rotten, and it would be easier to remove the wood he wanted. Then the water would drain and he would do it again. I'm not sure why he needed the wood, but I remember thinking how ridiculous that way of getting it was. What a waste! At some point the dream cuts to nighttime. A family -- mother and daughter, if my memory isn't failing me -- comes to the door to ask if we had found their kitten that had gone missing that day. We had in fact found a lonely kitten that morning and had been taking care of it. However, I was only wearing a t-shirt, so I left them at the door and ran off trying to find something to wear! It ended up waking up my mom and Jared, and my mom took care of it before yelling at Jared for what he was doing earlier, flooding the deck. That's all I remember.
