    1. 7/26/11 Instrumental mass and a Crazy car

      by , 07-26-2011 at 01:18 PM
Right, so this dream was pretty long and I don't remember a lot of it. But from what I do remember, I'm in church with a ton of family, and maybe some friends too, but I doubt that. We're a pretty large group though. This mass is unlike any of the others I've been to before, and in the dream I know that we're at a church we don't normally go to. I distinctly remember that some of us have instruments laying in front of us, to use during the songs. I personally have a snare drum in front of me, as do some others. I idly play with it occassionally, but I do so quietly, and not in tune with any particular song. I'm pretty bored here. I also remember that while the singing came through loud and clear, when the priest was just talking nobody could hear him! Some of the others around me try to draw attention to that to get him to use a mic, or something. Finally, another detail is that we already have communion bread things in the pews with us, which we are supposed to eat at communion time, then go up to get more like normal if we choose. There's quite a bit there, and people are trying to eat it all to be polite. They generally end up looking silly instead.

Around this time I head out of the church, planning to sit in the van (that we don't have IRL!) and watch from there. The church doors are wide open, so it's actually possible. I really think my main motive is to get out of that crowd though. It's evening, and the sun has set. I try to pull the van up closer to the door to get a better look or something, and it starts to veer off like it has a mind of its own! For the rest of the night, I'm driving around crazily on different roads, trying to get safely turned around and back to the church while the car dangerously veers all over the place. Thankfully nobody gets hurt. This all goes in fast-motion like a comedy chase scene might, so before long it's morning. Finally I'm able to get back near where I want to go. At some point I'm out of the car, and walk through a small courtyard type thing that I know animals are in on occasion. Like a zoo but not. It's pretty fuzzy but it feels like that place played a role earlier in the dream, as well.

Anyways, I walk through that and somewhere around this time I spontaneously become lucid. I'm approaching a dilapidated-looking place and as I do so I start "flying" (really just lazily floating). I know my family is supposedly there. I was worried about them being furious or scared by my running off like that, but of course now I'm not. As I arrive, I stop floating as I remember something I'd actually rather do. My little brother passes by, saying "Hello" like I'd done nothing unusual, before walking away again. I recall that I wanted to transform into an anthropomorphic coyote. Knowing transforming all at once would be too tough, I reason, so I decide to just stare at my hand and try to will it to change. (Perhaps not the best method, I admit). This succeeds only in causing my hand to kinda vibrate and flip out. My brother comes back and says "...ouch", as he assumes something is seriously wrong with my hand. About this time the dream fades, and I wait just a bit too long to start spinning.

    2. 7/25/11 Help accessing the dream world?

      by , 07-25-2011 at 01:14 PM
Now, I had this dream at 2 AM, so the recall was spotty even as I first woke up from it...

Anyways, I remember talking with someone who is offering to help me out. Unfortunately I can't remember a thing about them. Not their name, appearance, or even gender. Anyway, my brain is clearly confused about things, since this individual is trying to help me access Dreamworld or some such, yet things from work are getting mixed in. I have to go online, find some program, listen to this or that audio file... the word NUnit was thrown around a bit, which is directly from work. All the same, I'm eager to do what it takes since this is a huge goal for me. My brain is still confused though, since for a name of someone to get in contact with it pulls Marona, from Phantom Brave, but the music looping in my head is from Legend of Mana. That's about all for this fragment, but it was important enough to me that I woke up at 2 AM and wrote it down. So there ya go.
    3. 7/23/11 Refugee Camp?

      by , 07-24-2011 at 03:46 AM
This one was an interesting dream. I cannot remember the full details because I'm writing this up at night instead of in the morning. However, I was in some sort of military base or refugee camp. It was set like a big courtyard, and people were staying in the buildings that formed the walls of the courtyard. It's vague, but I remember helping a family out in a "mission", game-style, and feeling tense because I "knew" something was supposed to happen after I supposedly lead them to safety. However, nothing of the sort actually happens. I also set my gun down at some point, and try to find it later in the dream, amongst the mess of stuff in the middle of the courtyard. I ask someone for help finding it but can't remember what model of gun I have. I throw out the name AK-47 as one of the only gun names I actually know, however that obviously wasn't it. It was some 3 or 4-letter code like that, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't relate to any gun in real life.

At the end of the dream, our enemies were approaching the courtyard while we were trying to eat lunch, so we move our stuff out one of the openings away from the courtyard, and they calmly continue to make food. Standing near the cooking area, my lunch I had kept getting taken from me, swapped, added on to, etc. It was weird and hard to explain. By the end of it what I think was originally a meatball sub is now some convoluted sundae thing, drizzled in chocolate with an ice cream cone sticking out of it, upside down. I think the meat is still in there somewhere. Thankfully I only nibble the cone, and the chocolate tastes good.

This dream interested me for two reasons: One, my sense of taste was involved, which doesn't happen all that often, and Two, my personality was different. Normally I would consider myself a pacifist and completely loathe violence, and I figure I would never be able to make myself shoot someone. In this dream, though, I had the personality of one who would use their gun if they had to... even though from what I recall I never actually needed to.

    4. Dreams from 7/9/11 (I'm bad with titles)

      by , 07-09-2011 at 02:00 PM
I had three (possibly 4) dreams that I remember from last night. And 2 of them were lucid!

The first dream was pretty short. I was in my old house, looking at my desk. I realize that my monitor isn't there, and it should be. For whatever reason, that's what makes me lucid. So I calmly walk out of the house. I look around, and scrutinize everything I'm seeing. I'm also rubbing my hands together, just in case. I start walking down the long driveway, thinking about what I want to do. I make a couple feeble attempts to have a furred friend show up, by expecting him to be right behind me. Having had no practice with this technique before, it doesn't work. I get a little discouraged, but not much. Around this time the dream falls apart, though. I wake up and it's around 6 AM, so I roll over and go back to sleep.

The second dream is shorter than the last. I'm lucid again (well, semilucid, at least) with no recollection of a specific trigger. I'm wandering around this big house that looks oddly familiar, but I can't place why. Again, I'm carefully examining my surroundings. I don't remember too many details from this one unfortunately, but I'm pretty sure the house familiarity is a false memory. The house looks vaguely familiar to my parents' friends' house, where we stayed last week for a wedding. But the house is a lot bigger than that, and arranged differently. Plus it has an indoor hot tub.

The third (and fourth if you wanna count them separate) dreams kinda blend together. There's one where I'm going through a regimen for psychic powers not unlike the DVASA regimen, but more ridiculous. I remember watching an older man I don't know use "telekenesis" to mess with a light, or somesuch. From my perspective though, it looked more like a double came out of him, and the double fooled with the light. The double also goes over to a nearby desk and eats a pretzel from a can sitting there, grinning at me. I remember flipping through some pages of my training book, but some parts of the book are missing, or were specifically cut. The only specific line I remember is something about "Zeta Awareness", which I think is similar to viewing auras but... not? I can't remember.

At some point this seems to meld with another dream where I'm inexplicably waking up in an unfamiliar area. I can't remember a lot of the details. But like some other dreams I've had, I was out and about wearing nothing at all, with some boxers at hand that I'm hoping to find a secluded place to put on. (The logic fails there, but the choice of dress makes sense. That's how I sleep, so naturally it ends up in my dreams occasionally.) At some point I'm on a highway, sitting on the trunk of a moving car as if that's the best way to bum a ride these days. I notice my dad back there, chatting with someone else as he moves towards the car. That's when I suddenly realize, it's not some random car but my parent's car. That's good, I need the ride. I think I try to hop into the still-moving car or something, but the dream is just too fuzzy. This is all I can put down with certainty.

    5. Family of Suburbia - 4-12-11

      04/12/2011
      Family of Suburbia (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This was a very interesting dream, largely due to the fact that... I wasn't in it! In fact, I don't recognize a single person from the dream. It is as if I'm watching a movie. I'm almost always in my dreams somehow... if it is a video game world, as it often is, then I am at least the one playing the game, or in the game itself. I cannot remember the last time I wasn't in my own dream...

Anyways. From what I remember of the dream, there's a bunch of stuff at the beginning that I can't remember. My recall picks up at some feast or banquet, everyone is eating and chattering about... something. I think it is who will have kids next. Around here my focus of attention switches from... whoever I was focused on, to a particular young male. He had... black hair, I think? I'm bad at remembering physical details. I don't think I see him here at the banquet though, anyways.

The scene shifts. The young man is at the hospital talking to a nurse. His wife is laying on the operation table, unconscious. She's pregnant, but according to the doctors here her baby has some unusual condition. She has an extra pair of arms for some reason. This is obviously unhealthy so they're going to perform a c-section, remove the baby and immediately do a surgery on it. The man is understandably nervous, and is getting queasy staying in the operation room. He decides to leave the room, but first he quips something like, "At least this'll be the last time I ____....." (I can't remember the rest of the sentence.) The scene shifts again and there's a short comedic scene, still-picture perhaps, of the man carrying both his daughter and his wife out of the hospital. They're both conked out from the surgeries, but... they look perfectly fine, and the daughter looks older than a newborn for sure. That's a dream for you, I guess.

The scene shifts yet again. It seems to be several years later. At least, the child is old enough to swim reasonably competently. The man and his daughter are swimming, his wife seems to be sitting on the side of the pool. The daughter keeps bobbing her head under water playfully, which makes the man very nervous. He tries to dissuade her from doing that. Eventually she comes up from one of her bobs coughing and sputtering, which is enough to get her to stop. They both move over to the edge of the pool and start getting out. The man says, "It's 5 o'clock, aren't you hungry?" The kid, like most young children, was interested in what she was doing more than food, so she says no even though she probably is. Both parents say that they're hungry, and they help her out of the pool. He starts to tell her that she doesn't have to eat much if she doesn't want to, but he is cut short by the sight he sees in the sky. It's at night, and the moon and stars are in the sky, but there's also a huge, reddish, ...moon? Or planet, probably planet. In either case, it's absolutely huge, and dwarfs the moon by comparison. It easily takes up half of the view they have of the sky. About here is where the dream ends.

      Of Dogs and Blockades (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This was another long dream, and again, is hard for me to remember. At the beginning of it, I'm playing some sort of 2D platformer. It has tons of collectibles, with some fairly stringent requirements for the later levels. I'm working on making my way over there.

Now, there's a whole bunch of stuff in the middle of this dream that I just can't remember...

But towards the end, I'm in some city somewhere, trying to move along to a new part of it. About halfway there there's some sort of blockade in the way to going any further. There's some sort of... "tutorial"? going on. Or a public service announcement, or even an ad. I dunno. There's just something blaring on the huge TV screen on one of the buildings across the road. I get the feeling that I should be paying attention to it, but I don't want to. "It's like they don't trust us," I mutter aloud. I think there's someone else there, but I can't remember who.

Instead of trying to make it through the blockade, I settle into the alcove underneath one of the buildings. It's awfully messy, but it will do. It's also drawing the attention of quite a few dogs over. There are some dogs I don't know, but I recognize my sister's dogs, Shaley and Matty, in the mix. I let them come up to me and I pat them a bunch.

At some point Matty starts not sounding good, as if she's coughing up a hairball. I look and do indeed see some hair in her mouth. I try to gently push her away so she at least doesn't cough that up on me, but she starts to whine. At this point the dream slooowwwlly fades out. It's a long process, and I end up feeling pretty tired when it ends.

    7. 1/15/11 3 Dreams

      Singularity, undercover cop? (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This is the first of 3 dreams I had this morning, and it was really... cool, actually. Since it was the first one though, I can't remember most of it. Anyways, I recall being in this house or something, I think I was a reporter. I'm looking around the house, and there's a door that is just metal bars, like a jail cell door. There's a section of stone wall behind it, but I know behind that is another room. There's an abusive husband in there, but I can't get to him. I start walking away and look back to see that the wive worked up courage and pushed the wall thing aside, so I go in.

Here, I have a confrontation with the husband that I don't remember all that well, unfortunately. What I do remember is that neither of us had any weapons, and I had no handcuffs. I manage to get him on the ground and punch him several times. He gets me once or twice, but it doesn't hurt. Eventually I get him to stop resisting, and start dragging him out of there by his wrists. At least once he tries to tug himself away from me, but I just brace myself and grip his arms even tighter. The dream ended on a slightly sad note though, as I look back to the kitchen and see a picture of a "happy" family, husband, wife and baby. All I can think about is whether the baby is there, or even still alive. I personally don't recall the noises we made fighting, but I know the baby should have been wailing because of it, and I didn't hear one... The dream ends here.

      A... a hairball? Seriously? (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This was a short fragment, and kinda disgusting. I was hanging out or something, and suddenly one of my teeth feels weird. I touch it with my fingers, and it pops right out. It was where a canine should be, but it looked just like a molar. I head into the nearby bathroom and start rinsing my mouth in the sink, I think. I can't remember. My mom's there too. Suddenly I start coughing and the next thing I know, there's a huge wad of hair in front of me. And I have to tug on it since the last few hairs of it were still dangling down my throat. That was a bit more realistic than I would have liked... blech! That's all I remember.

      01/15/2011
      Destroying the Propaganda Machine (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Now, this one was kinda weird, and despite it being the last one I had, I can't remember it well. When my recall picks up we're on land, and I'm driving a bus around. We're on a mission to do something, but a bunch of farmers and other average citizens keep ramming in to us, damaging our "hull". (This dream might have been inspired just a bit by all the X: Btf I've been playing... >.>) Anyways, a couple others are with me in the bus, though I don't remember who. We're musing about how whoever was in charge managed to convince the commoners to do something like this. It was clearly hurting their cars and trucks a lot more than it was hurting our bus.

At some point the dream switches to full on X: Btf mode, and I'm in a spaceship, looking for a certain station. I find and blow up one by mistake, but nobody seems to be mad. I navigate around a few others before finding the right one. It was a pretty big station, and as I approached I could hear a sort of radio station come on in my ship. I don't remember any words from it, but it was clearly some sort of propaganda that had brainwashed average citizens. I shoot a Hornet missle at it, which dropped a large chunk of its shields, and whittle down the rest with my lasers, causing it to blow up. That's all I can remember.

      The Quest for... Ice-cream? (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This one was interesting. I don't remember most of the beginning, but I do recall that my family and all were watching some really long movie. At some point we decided to take a break so I could get some ice cream. I find myself in this large, somewhat confusing building. Right near the entrance is your standard, industry-chain ice cream place, but I decide to look a bit more.

Towards the other end of the building I find a smaller setup, promising homemade, organic ice cream, or something like that. There's a bunch of little kids in line, it being the "healthier" option, but I decide to stick around anyway. When it gets to my turn, I get stuck a bit trying to find a word, and saying, "What I want is like a shake, but thicker..."
(I was trying to think of the word "flurry". A la McFlurry, etc.) The man making the ice cream responds by saying, "Well... get a thick shake then!" I figure that's close enough, and go along with it. I get to be surprisingly specific with ice cream (one scoop of chocolate, one scoop of cookie dough, with vanilla as the "base"). While I'm in the line, I take a cup and fill it with some milk, to drink as I wait. But once I get through the line I realize I only have the milk! My shake is nowhere to be found. I figure one of the kids in line must have taken it.

I find my way upstairs, where the ice cream man had gone. It looks like he's doing something pretty important, giving a speech or something. I wave and such at somebody, since I know them.
(I forget who though. My high school band teacher, perhaps?) Then, I go up to the ice cream guy and kinda sheepishly interrupt him, explaining my predicament. He generously offers to make me a new one, but I'm extremely embarrassed by now that I interrupted what looked like an important ceremony for my own needs. I quietly go, "No, it's okay, really, go back to what you were doing..." and wander off. I begin to wonder about going back to the other ice cream place I saw, but I wake up.

(I feel like this dream COULD be symbolic, but like Sylvia (author of Project Sanctuary) says, I think I'd get the meaning wrong if I try to analyze things in isolation. It's not too important anyways, I don't think...)

(Also, a bit of synchronicity, though I'm sure it's meaningless, it is kinda funny. Once I rolled myself out of bed and came out to the living room, my dad had the TV turned to CBS. And they were doing some kind of cook-off... with ice cream. Weird.)

      Kindergartener Quiz (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

In this short dream, me and my family were visiting my elementary school for some local event going on. (A reasonably common occurence, given our small town) For some reason there's a circular pattern of bleachers, like a bullseye, set into the middle of the gym. They go down and form a sort of pit. I'm on one of the upper bleachers with my family for a while, just taking things in. There was something going on here, but I don't remember was it is.

At some point I scoot down towards the center where all the elementary kids are. There's one smart little girl in particular there. She must be in kindergarten or something. One guy keeps quizzing her on standard basic knowledge for kids that age, like the colors of the rainbow, what's 2 + 2, and such. Then he asks a slightly tougher sort of riddle, that went something like this:

Him: Okay. "A" only likes straight lines, "B" only likes measurements, and "C" only likes ones. Who are they?

Girl: Well, A is a square, B is a successful measuring ruler, and C is a one!

(This riddle made perfect sense in the dream, but I realize how silly it is now. And yet, you can't argue that those would be "correct" answers.) After that exchange, I woke up.

      Highschool student profiling (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Okay, first two fragments: I remember something about running around playing a game as Diddy Kong (we've been playing Donkey Kong lately).

I remember another fragment where I was browsing some forums, though I don't remember why or what I was browsing for.

Now the dream I do remember. I was back in high school again, in what I think was Performance Arts class. The teacher asked us to come up with settings that had some consistency, but were still flexible. We were practicing adlibs or something. I came up with the idea of a weather forecast.
(This idea came from a bit of comedy I saw yesterday, IRL) I went and put up the idea on the board. Then the teacher handed us something else to fill out, which I asked if it was related to our current assignment. She said no, just that "It's June now so you all have to fill one of these out before you leave". (She was being kind of annoying, really) This thing was kind of a questionnaire that the school, or the state or something used to profile students. (I did some of these back in high school, though they were basically getting numbers for drug or alcohol use, anonymously) I remember that the first question was something like, "I absolutely can't stand people who _________". I ask why I should have to fill one out, since I and a few others there are Seniors (implanted memory!) and wouldn't be coming back. She admitted she wasn't sure. About this time the dream ended.

      Project Sanctuary...? (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Now this one was weird. It was basically a False Awakening. I was laying in bed and I decide to try the whole Project Sanctuary thing. (To sum it up in a sentence, it's trying to have vivid, dream-like visualization while you're awake.) Two times I get kinda close trying to pull a scene together, but my head kinda vibrates and snaps me out of it. The third time I succeed, though, and I am in a forest with a big truck or SUV. This was a pretty hazy dream overall, I kinda hovered around the area as the truck moved around, then I floated higher in the air. I thought of going into space and closed my eyes, but when I opened them I woke up.

Now... do I count this as lucid? I was aware that whatever I experienced wasn't real, but I was convinced this was because I was visualizing in waking life, not because I was dreaming. It's kind of a weird one...

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Two dreams that I kinda remember from today... The first was about either Morrowind or Oblivion. I loaded up a character that had a bunch of mods and tried to play it without those mods, but I got frustrated so I put them back.

The other one was dealing with some sort of schoolwork. There was this assignment that was due today, and I hadn't done several of the questions yet because I didn't know the answers. I worried about how I'd get them done in time to turn it in.

      Demonic Markings (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This dream was earlier in the night, so I don't remember most of it. I do remember being outside, talking with some other guy about these intricate patterns on the ground in front of us. They seemed to be part of some video game / mini game, though I don't remember the details. I remember being paranoid and worried because the patterns would change instantly when I "changed the difficulty setting" (Don't ask, I don't know. xD), but I was the only one who noticed the change. I could change them around other people and they would be completely oblivious to the fact there was any change at all! One other thing I don't know where to put: At one point the patterns looked like they were laid out with garden hose, and at another point they looked burned into the ground.

There's some dream content I can't remember, then I remember hopping in the shower. This was a big shower like we have up on campus. I feel my head and realize that I have a headache, and I'm bleeding from somwhere on my head. My stomach was already feeling uneasy, but seeing my head bleeding caused bile to creep up my throat. It was at this point that I woke up.

Two interesting things of note. The first is that though my head felt perfectly fine when I woke up, my stomach was grumbling somewhat. I'd eaten too much before going to bed. So I sat up for a few minutes, sipped some water, and went back to sleep. The other thing is that some details were surprisingly vivid compared to others. The pain and acidic bile were very realistic, and my thought patterns within the dream at that point seemed reasonably clear. But I can't remember whether the shower was even running, whether I was still wearing clothes, etc. Nevermind the first part of the dream, all of that is hazy.

Day in the Life of Homer Simpson (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Now this one was just bizarre for me. I was in the world of The Simpsons (and I NEVER watch that show! EVER!), walking around with Homer himself. We end up at the doctor's for some reason or another, who knows. I immediately see the doctor Homer would want: His name was "Dr. Feelgood" and he basically put a ton of tasty food-type stuff in an IV bag for his patient to scarf down. Who of course, walked out of there feeling better. Homer and I got sent over to another doctor, whose name I can't remember. He took me aside though.

He probably did a couple things I don't remember, but what I remember was him taking my right hand, and wrapping some string around the base, as if for a tourniquet. He started talking about all sorts of things, mentioning hypnosis and such. He also said how he wasn't as fun, but his method of treatment worked BEST. Stuff like that. He was taking his sweet time wrapping my finger with string, and at some point I had a memory skip to when he was done. He said something like, "Well if that [the hypnosis] worked on you, then see, that's what I REALLY want to do!" (As opposed to being a doctor) Homer said something like, "Oh, that'd never work on me!" to which I replied, "Well I'm sorry to say, but it worked on me."

At this point he took my middle finger and jammed three shots into it, one after another. I did feel some pain from this, enough to make me jump, at least. The doctor said, "Oh quit it, you're done already!" And he sent us away. (Homer didn't end up seeing any doctor. Can't say I blame him after watching what happened to me.) At this point I seem to have a touch of awareness because I start wondering what effect the shots will have, considering "we have different worlds." At this point Homer decided to talk about how donuts were one of the periodic elements here, or some crap. I dunno. This is where the dream ended.

      G-Mod Idiot... Theatre? (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

So in this dream, I was in some theatre with a bunch of other college-age kids. I don't remember if I knew any of them or not, though. What I remember is that we were watching some preview of the next episode of a silly Youtube video series. I'm not exactly sure which one, but I'll go with GMod Idiot Box. Only, this one was actually more of a game than a video. We had a Wii set up for it, but before it would run they had to insert 32(!) separate DVDs. The contents of them didn't matter except for one. One had to be a specific movie so they could "get the right color for _______'s panties." Bizarre and slightly perverted, I know. I don't get it either! Anyways, I don't remember much of the actual game/video. It wasn't quite as funny as the normal videos, but it was indeed an interactive game. Weird. All of the actual content is a blur, though. Who knows what it was about. (I don't remember any panties, though. ) And... that's all I remember, I guess.
