Date: January 21, 2013 ||| Time Block: 2:00 AM to 7:45 AM ||| Length: 5 minutes. ||| Lucidity: level 2. ||| Entry Type: DILD ||| Major Methods: BAT

Methods: lay down for the night; repeated the alphabet and visualizations for a while; repeated "AB1, AB2" continuously as I fell asleep.

    Account:
I had just woken up from a mild nightmare. I figured I might as well do a reality check, and I found that I was still dreaming.

At this I then got up, and started clapping my hands at arm distance, as a test for increasing the dream's vividness. This is, I think, the first lucid dream I've had in which the setting was during the night. It was dark, so I walked out into the hallway and switched on the light. And it worked, the first try, I guess because I wasn't thinking about it, and so simply expected it to work, whereas the other times I've tried turning them on with the doubts already in place. Anyway, I turned on a few more, and started walking downstairs. On reaching the bottom, I looked up and saw Mom and Dad looking down from the top, over the railing, presumably because I woke them up by turning all of the lights on. Cupping my mouth, I yelled, "LISTEN EVERYONE. WE'RE DREAMING." At this, my parents and my sister Chrissy bolted off towards their rooms, and I heard some yells of excitement, like I think for instance I heard a "Yeehaw!", which I copied. But then as I ran up with them, I realized I was already dreaming, so there would be no point in going back to bed. This also happens to be the point at which everyone reversed their direction and started going downstairs.

I started following them down. As I got to the bottom again, I thought of performing another test. I decided to try whistling. At first, like in real life, my mouth was not ready and it wasn't working. But within a few seconds, I had readied my lips and was whistling quite clearly. I then went on into the living room, and I think my family was setting something up, to watch a movie or something. But then I realized a thing that I hadn't seen yet in any of my dreams. Apparently, my subconscious knew somehow that I didn't have any contacts in, (unlike almost every other time, since I have them in during naps), and so on looking around downstairs, my vision was quite clearly blurry. Anyway, I tried to ignore it as I tried to keep looking around. I heard a conversation or two, but I forget what specifically we said. I know at one point, I heard Monica say something from over in the family room. I don't remember very clearly what happened next, but I know that it only lasted about another minute. And I remember what I said right before I woke up. "Something, something, something… that's so cool." And then I was actually awake, wishing I had had a few more seconds to try creating fireballs again.
