Date: January 22, 2013 ||| Time Block: 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM ||| Length: 15 minutes. ||| Lucidity: level 3. ||| Entry Type: DILD ||| Major Methods: BAT

Methods: lay in bed for the night; conceptualized going "deeper into the darkness" (of my vision) until I fell asleep.

    Account:
I was standing near a door, quite a ways into a regular dream. Something about the door made me realize I was dreaming, I think. I still heard the conversation going on between the two characters in the unfolding plot and my parents, (they were from the Middle Ages), but I didn't really care at this point.

I opened the door, and saw a beautiful front yard. It started out with a series of a few cement steps, down to a black-top road which made a circle. Inside this circle was a grassy area, with a large and lush tree growing in the center and branching out over the road. Far ahead was a road the driveway connected to. To the left was a forest of lush trees, like those in a jungle, and a series of rolling hills, eventually coming up to a raised highway. I walked over to this section on the left, and stared out at it. And then I saw a bird fly overhead, dropping a shadow onto my scene. And then another, and another. There were hawks or a type of eagle, and they were large, but not enough to be a threat or anything, though I figured that they may multiply if I focused on them too much. (a large part of lucid dreaming is learning to control it, and keep yourself stabilized in one. I'm doing all-right with inducing them, but not so good with these control techniques yet, which is why I do practice such as the following)

Wanting to test something while I was at it, I figured I'd try summoning again. I tried to think of a suitable object. I wanted something that would be easy to conceptualize for the first try. I thought of my Blue's Clues stuffed animal from when I was younger, that I gave away and was sad over as a kid. I figured, why not! I stared out onto a part of a distant hill. Conceptualizing the object's shape and color, and mentally creating expectations, *poof* it appeared before me in the scene, as a live (though still 'stuffed') animal, that then began running to me, almost in slow motion. It eventually made it over, and it leapt up into my arms as I held it against me. And it felt just like it did when I was little. And as I put my hand up towards its neck, I wasn't even thinking about it, but it even had the same marking that identified the original. A rip in its neck from playing with it. A thought that was so cool because I forgot about that rip, but it came into my dream anyway. While I was still holding it, I 'woke up'.

Except not into a bed. Instead, I found myself in a tall office building, with many large glass windows. I looked out, (it was bright and sunny), and saw dozens of other tall buildings, the most obvious of which had a massive flat top, on which some interesting events were taking place. Apparently, there was some kind of conflict. There were people walking around on there, but also one who looked kind of malicious. She was old, and slightly deformed, and she appeared to be pestering the people there. At first, when I was watching her, she was just moving around all over the place. But then when I started to look at any other individual, I'd notice that she'd walk over to whoever I stared at. Interesting. I stared at that guy on the left, she followed my expectations and walked over to him. I stared to the right, same thing. And then I saw Kevin (Schram von Haupt) walk into the scene from the bottom left. He was walking relaxedly, and was quite a bit taller than the old lady. As he came up to her, she apparently grabbed onto his arm. He quickly broke free, but he had to use quite some force, and in doing so he bent her arm a bit. I'm laughing out loud right now, (quietly though), because what she did next was so funny. She made a little grunting sound, while staring at her bent arm, and then caused her arm to go back the way it was, but it was so funny because her sound effect was like the sound one would make for like a character that's really weak, the sound of pathetic exertion. Anyway, I decided to watch this unfold at a closer distance. Flying out over the building, I was moving somewhat clumsily. Letting myself fall too far on one of the flight cycles, I actually got within just a few feet of the building, and the old lady actually grabbed onto me. I tried to go back up, but she was holding onto my finger, with quite some force. At first it was a bit shocking, but not so much once I realized that in dreams there is very rarely pain, and she could do no harm to me. So I figured I would just see what happened. Holding onto my arm, she had that regular delight that you see in movies when they catch someone. (you know, the evil laugh, etc.) But I stood there looking at her, and wasn't actually afraid once I 'let go' and just waited in calm observation. She was holding her mouth open, so I figured I would try putting my hand in it. So I did, and what's funny is I could feel the saliva and her gums, and it felt weird but so cool that I could actually do that, to someone who would normally be in a nightmare. She didn't like that, and when I took my hand out, she started spitting at my face. It felt kind of gross, but it's not quite as bad when you know it's not actually on you. Anyway, the feeling of it on my face, (and in my mouth!), woke me up.

Now back in bed, I found it odd that the feeling within my mouth had lingered from the dream a bit longer than I had expected. But oh well. I looked down, and the iPad was on. And it had a record of all the words I said in my sleep! I even checked, and it was mostly accurate, and I was excited because it would help me remember the events. But then I asked myself how it knew those words. "Oh, that's why I have these headphones on, and oh, I don't remember that microphone on there but whatever." I took the headphones off, and was just resting in bed, thinking over my dream. "You know, I should probably check the time for my dream journal. But oh, I'm so tired. Nah, I'll just remember what time it feels like, around 6." A few seconds pass, and I know I'm just making excused because my body feels dead tired. Slumping over on my other side, I finally get up the motivation, with my muscles just wanting to sleep, and press the alarm clock light and look down at the time. 5:02. Interesting, a bit earlier than I'd expected, but okay, fine. Hmmm…. a bit odd that it's right by the hour again, just like last time. I think this over in bed, theorizing why this would be. *Beep, beep, beep* "Oh great, my alarm. It must have just gone off." I turn back over and tap the snooze button. The beeping stopped. *Bang, bong, bang, bong, bang, bong* "What? I thought I already turned it off. Yep, I definitely did. Then what is this?" It continued. I realized it sounded like another alarm. But then suspiciously, I noticed it's direction change from my own alarm, to the alarm in Chrissy's room. "Wait, that's not how Chrissy's alarm sounds either." And then it hit me. "Do a reality check!" I put my hand up and plugged my nose, and "Oh my goodness, I am still dreaming!"

Bursting out of bed in an instant, I ran out of the room so quickly that my vision almost immediately vanished. I was going on merely by touch. I realized, while racing down the stairs, that I needed to do something, quick, once I reached the bottom to reset my vision. Once I made it down, I raced for the light switch, and the moment I flipped it my vision returned to normal. I remembered at this point my experiment, to try to simply sit in one spot and see how long I can stay in the dream. But I had to pick a location. Hmmm… How about right where I'm standing? Nah, let's go over a bit onto the carpet, right there in the living room. So I did, sitting down with my legs crossed. (Yes, I can do this in a dream! Perhaps not so well in real life… haha) But it was kind of quiet, just sitting there. I wanted some company. No time like the present to practice my summoning skills! So I try to think of someone to make appear. I figure I might as well try with my cousin, Andy. So I stare out into the family room, which apparently had become lit, and try to think of what to do mentally to get him standing there. As I do this, I find myself holding my brother Davey. Nice! He can help me yell out the words, once I think them up. "Okay, so Andy would be right *there*!", I yell with Davey, putting mental emphasis and expectation on that last word. And the moment we said it, Andy appeared there, living and breathing and grabbing a piece of pizza out of the container that appeared in front of him! "And Hanna would be right *there*" And my cousin Hanna appeared, and started walking around. "And Dad would be right *there*", "And Mom would be right *there*", "And Chrissy would be right *there*", "And Monica would be right *there*", "And Uncle Paul would be right *there*". By the time I had woken up, I had summoned almost a dozen people, and it was so cool because it worked every time, and they were living and breathing beings, walking around like in real life, doing their own activities. This will be very neat in the future, since I plan to have longer adventures, and it'll be nice to go along with company. But for now I will continue to experiment, and improve my skills, so I can someday actually do this.

Oh, one final note. This is the third time ever that I've had a lucid dream during my regular sleep session! This is very exciting, again because it means I can start to take advantage of my every night sleep, and not spend so much time on morning naps. Also, the dreams during the night seem to be more random, like I find myself in cool new locations, so it has the adventurousness advantage as well. (although, someday I plan to teleport myself places anyway, but for now it means more interesting locations than just my house) Anyway, I'm pretty happy with this.

That is some impressive recall that you have going there, so I'm sure the question about lucid control will come in time.
(I seem to have that same problem incidentally.)
