      skullgunner1's Workbook

Hi! I'm skullgunner1, 12 years old, and determined to Lucid Dream. I have currently 12 Dream Journal entries on Notepad, (I have been neglecting Dream Journaling for some time but I have got back to track!) and I do Reality Checks daily. I decided to go with the flow and drop WILD, but keep an eye out for DEILD.

      Major Achievements so far:
      - First random Lucid Dream of the year. Successfully flown and shortly after lost Lucidity...
      - First kind of purposely Lucid Dream. Failed to achieve any Dream Control, closed my eyes, and woke up.

      Things about me:
      - I am a heavy sleeper.
      - I am said to have an amazing imagination, visualization is a piece of cake for me.
      - I weekdays I wake up at 5:50 AM for school.
      - I'm 12.
      - I usually don't remember dreams from waking, but rather throughout the day. I see my friend on the bus: Oh crap! Dude! I had a dream about you! Etc.

Things I currently do at the day:
      - I look to dedicate at least 30 mins to drop everything I do and think on Lucid dreaming.
      - I do Reality Checks whenever they come to mind.
      - I am now going to write down every single dream, but not nightmares, I'd rather forget those.

      Discoveries I made:
      - Here's a little theory I came up with: Things that inflict emotion, either excitement, or depression, have a chance of "standing out" to your brain, so it might be included in your dream. I've made jokes about Mr. Anderson (Emotion: Happiness) and a Matrix Agent appears in my dream. I think about a girl (Emotion: Envy and Sadness) and she's in my dreams. I played a Ipad game and it was pretty cool (Emotion: Excitement) and we talked about training troops in my dreams. So I'm going to get into a habit of thinking about Lucid dreaming and try to invoke emotion into it.

Is it suggested I keep a Dream Journal here?

      Welcome to DILD workshop!

      1. DJ is an integral part of lucid dreamers lifestyle. It helps you in many ways. You can read about importance of DJ, about recall, mantras, RCs and awareness in this collection of methods for DILD.
You don't have to have a DJ here on DV, but if you do, you may get some cool comments from people who enjoy reading other's DJs. Notepad on your PC will do just fine.

      2. No need to drop the WILD entirely. Just make sure when you attempt, you do it after at least 4.5 hours of sleep and best after WBTB. The sensations can be extremely intense so read up on what to expect.

      3. Also read up on DEILD. You never know, when this comes in handy.

      re-entering collapsed LD

Even if all these guides are long, don't worry about learning all that stuff. You will be surprised, how much you actually remember when you need to recall the info during DEILD or LD.

      4. You don't always have control in LD. Or you can have different degrees of it. But in general, if you have control, you will get better at it with experience.

      5. Best time for you to have a DILD and even WILD, would be on the weekend. Get up at your normal 5:50 time, stay up for an hour, say your mantra (next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming - while looking at your hands) for a few min and then lay down for a nap on a sofa or some other place, but not your usual sleeping place.

During this hour, try not to wake yourself up totally. If you not sleepy anymore, try to watch some tv untill drowsy, then shut it down and attempt a WILD. If it doesn't succeed, fall asleep and you are very likely to have a DILD.

      6. Visualization is a great thing. You can incubate a dream that way. It's easiest with places that you know very well - like your room, classroom or anything like that.

And the most important part of getting LDs is believing and KNOWING that you can do it and your INTENT to do it. Intent is more than a wish. Intent is like a done deal. No questions about it.

OK, check out the tutorials. Start with the DILD tut, and then if you don't want to read others, read at least lesson 1 from WILD - mental preparation. Talks about daytime awareness, which is actually that thing that will help you get lucid the most. It's good for DILDs too.

Please do ask if you have a question and happy dreams

Eh, the problem is with your WBTB method you described, is that either way I usually wake up around 6:30 AM, so 5:50AM isn't so far fetched.
And when peforming normal WBTB's, usually at 2:00AM or 3:00AM, I can't venture around in the house or my parents would have a fit.

I only say 5:50, because you say that's when you get up for school. 6:30 is even better, because you have longer sleep, so your REM will be longer also. But WBTB at night is also good.

And sleeping on a sofa or a comfy reclining chair is better, but you can do bed also. I just found, that I fall asleep too easily in my bed, because in my mind it's associated with just falling alseep. Maybe put a pillow on the other side of the bed, so it's different than when you go to sleep

Remember, that excitement, awareness, believing in yourself and intent are extremely important. Oh, and don't forget about RCs and mantras. You can do it!
