Welcome to DILD workshop!
1. DJ is an integral part of lucid dreamers lifestyle. It helps you in many ways. You can read about importance of DJ, about recall, mantras, RCs and awareness in
this collection of methods for DILD.
You don't have to have a DJ here on DV, but if you do, you may get some cool comments from people who enjoy reading other's DJs. Notepad on your PC will do just fine.
2. No need to drop the WILD entirely. Just make sure when you attempt, you do it after at least 4.5 hours of sleep and best after WBTB. The sensations can be extremely intense so read up on what to expect.

3. Also read up on DEILD. You never know, when this comes in handy.

Even if all these guides are long, don't worry about learning all that stuff. You will be surprised, how much you actually remember when you need to recall the info during DEILD or LD.
4. You don't always have control in LD. Or you can have different degrees of it. But in general, if you have control, you will get better at it with experience.
5. Best time for you to have a DILD and even WILD, would be on the weekend. Get up at your normal 5:50 time, stay up for an hour, say your mantra (next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming - while looking at your hands) for a few min and then lay down for a nap on a sofa or some other place, but not your usual sleeping place.
During this hour, try not to wake yourself up totally. If you not sleepy anymore, try to watch some tv untill drowsy, then shut it down and attempt a WILD. If it doesn't succeed, fall asleep and you are very likely to have a DILD.
6. Visualization is a great thing. You can incubate a dream that way. It's easiest with places that you know very well - like your room, classroom or anything like that.
And the most important part of getting LDs is believing and KNOWING that you can do it and your INTENT to do it. Intent is more than a wish. Intent is like a done deal. No questions about it.
OK, check out the tutorials. Start with the DILD tut, and then if you don't want to read others, read at least lesson 1 from WILD - mental preparation. Talks about daytime awareness, which is actually that thing that will help you get lucid the most. It's good for DILDs too.
Please do ask if you have a question and happy dreams
