      Caiocontieri's Workbook

      Hey there..!

My name is Caio Contieri,I am 18 years old and I live in Brazil.

So how did i get interested in dreaming and lucidity: I was just as every teenager around the globe searching the web for random stuff so i could do something on my spare time during summer break. So i was on YouTube watching a random video when the video related was "How to lucid dream by Howcast". At first i was like:"oh ok,maybe it's about yoga or some thing like that."(ignorant thought),then after i watched it i was fascinated and wanted to bad to have one myself.

Then i ,as a Nerd, started looking for anything that could be dream or LD related. I was like the hunter in search of their prey, as if that would ensure my existence on the surface.Couldnt stop reading about it,and so i decided to buy a book called "Lucid dreams in 30 days." (indicated by Tim from Lucidipedia on his yotube video).I waited for that book for about 4 months to arrive in Brazil because the last shipment of this book was 2000. And after i read it up i kind of felt like i needed more,so i bought "Exploring the world of lucid dreaming" by stephen laberge. This period of time was in about 2 years of "pure knowledge" and struggle to get a LD,but it seems like that effort wasnt enough.

About my first lucid dream:Was a pretty random DILD experience,I really have to say that i wasnt planning on that to happened, but just like a fart "it happened!". And so the seccond one i took some tips from MasterMind that presented me the "timer method" seen Here! (not sure if should post Lucidology101's name here but what ever.)

So my problem may be low self confidence. (at least i think it is.)Nothing much else i can think to present as a back story to you my teachers

Thanks alot for past and future responses. you guys rock!

      Cheers

Have fun exploring the world(s) of dreaming.

I just want to tell you though that the theory behind the timer method mentioned in the video is not what I talk about and believe in. It has nothing to do with sleep paralysis etc. It's effective because of the same principles behind the WBTB such as the aminergic system and REM-Rebound and so on.
But ironically the timer setup that is used in Lucidology was a very reliable one. Although I should say that the reasons behind it's effetiveness doesn't really matter, because I can't really meassure the aminergic system of my brain or in a controled environment see if what is described in Lucidology is true.

We can only learn by the experiences we get from it. The explanations is just inspiration or in Lucidologies case - promoting/ advertising
Although I thank him for his ideas.

And so far I have noticed increased critical thinking in my dreams from time to time the night I woke myself up with the timer.

Ok back to topic. I look forward to see you progress (don't feel pressured though.) But you have learned alot so far and your journey is only beggining.

And it should also be mentioned that I kind of had bad confidence when I started out here, but both Dreamviews and my dreams helped me increase the confidence.
So everything will be ok, in fact it already is you just have to see it.

      Sweet dreams!

Hi and welcome to DILD class!

That's a very nice intro post, it reads very well, thank you.

I see you have already started reading some books. The LaBerge's book is a classic and a must read. So good job on that.

No reason to have low confidence. You have already achieved what majority of people on this planet can't even dream about. Haha, pun inteded.
So you know, you can do it.

DILD is fueled by huge part of believing in yourself and rest of it is diligent practice. I got my first DILD from excitement, but rest of them were from training. From awareness, RCs and mantras. And huge load of confidence and intent.

If you would like to describe to me how you practice and what would you like help with, I'll be happy to give you some tips. Happy dreams

      Hey again.

So I keep a DJ since june 2012. But i feel that my recall isnt the greatest.. i definitely need to improve on that by practice.
And about "methodology" i've tried mantras and RCs.. but never worked out for me.. and so i recently started meditation before sleep.

i guess it's basicaly what i do on a daily bases..

      -Get relaxed
      -have the urge to LD
      -And sleep

      Am i missing out anything?

      cheers

If RCs and mantras don't work, it's usually because they ar done just mechanically. Without really giving any thought into them and no emotions.

RCs by themselves don't get you lucid. It's the awareness question, that does. RC only confirms after you either already have a hunch, or you already know.

The awareness question "wow, am I dreaming?" should stop you in your tracks and give you this funny feeling in your stomach - excitement and happiness and it should make you really believe for a moment that you are in a dream. Then when you do RCs, you have to believe, that they will work, because you are in a dream. And this will start happening in your regular dreams - when you suddenly just stop doing what you doing, ask yourself that question and get lucid.

Here is the whole article about daytime awareness question + RC + mantras. And also importance of DJ and how to get better recall. Please read it and then ask your questions either here, or in the article.

      Hello there

First i would like to say that i've alot going on latelaly with my life and so i could barely pay attention on LD.

Now about my practice:Last night i did the timer thing back again, and i am thinking of quitting it cause in my case it leaves me tired for the rest of the day and also ruins me waking up to a alarm clock (This time really for waking up and going to do my normal schedule)cause the last ones that went off i basicaly didn't wake up to it.

Something that did take on my attention on your post Gab was the All day awareness (i've read about it also on yoshi's post),but as the RCs i feel like from time to time i will be going to act it just as a mechanical way and not what it really is supposed to mean.(Really question myself about the current state:Asleep or awake)

I have been reading stephen laberge's book and a quote just told me what i really should start thinking about:

"Belive you can't.Belive you can.Either way you're right."
      -Henry Ford

      Cheers
      Stay lucid!

I don't like alarms either. For a DILD, you don't really need WBTB (wake back to bed). It can better your chances, but you don't need it. If you ever wake up at night to use the restroom, just take 2 minutes to do mantras and RC and then repeat mantra in your head as you falling asleep. That should be enough.

If you don't wake up at all, drink some water before bed. That should wake you up.

It may take some time to learn to realize in a dream, that you are dreaming. If you just do RC mechanically in a dream, that's because you not aware enough. You don't recognize it. Try the awareness question I linked you to in previous post. It's short and it helps. But it just may take a little time to train your brain.

      Keep at it. Good luck

      Smile

      Hey there.

It's been a while since my last post, but quote on quote AC/DC "Back in black!!".
So since i haven't had much 'material' to work with lately,i am going to describe my goals and realisations on dreaming in general.

The purpouse of it all right now, before talking about LDing,is the fact that i've been working out for the past 2 years now and so my sleeping schedule was chaotic. Implying my HGH was probably lower and further more testosterone. STEP ONE:Sleep at least 8 hours per night.

Right after that we have that nice REM sleep and hence dreaming (lucid or not).

I still think that Dreams are so powerful that it can tell how you are doing better than a psicanalist,psychologist,etc..
Infact i can notice a huge variety of references through out my dreams, and explain why i was feeling like that way in the moment of the dream.

STEP TWO:Bring back the pre frontal cortex activation successfully!
One thing that i hear alot from Oneironauts is the fact of how important is the feeling of getting lucid,or noticing something wrong in the middle of a dream. This will come in handy when doing WBTB.

My current practice is Writting down in my DJ ,doing RCs through out the day ,And last but not least doing lots of visualizations !

Its good to be back DV,I've missed you ..

The feeling that you get when you get lucid will become familiar to you after some experiences. I would not really worry about it just yet. Sure, it can be your goal, and you can keep it in back of your mind as something to pay attention to.

What I would say it's more important than that is our daytime awareness. The "I'm here, now" and the "I could be dreaming right now" thoughts and feelings.

      Happy dreams
