      Dxpenguinman's Workbook

Hey, I'm Dxpenguinman and I first read about lucid dreaming 2 years ago on some online forums (I can't remember which), and I was inspired to try it out. I lasted one month and didn't get anywhere, mainly due to my lack of motivation. Since then, I haven't picked it up since although I occassionally read about it from time to time. Three weeks ago, I decided to change that and resumed my LD practice, determined to keep it up until I can LD frequently. I've started a DJ, and I can recall 1 dream a day, maybe 2. Two days ago I had my first LD, but I was too excited and forgot to stabilize the dream, but I awakened even more inspired. And now here I am!

I practice ADA, although I don't really maintain it (something I'm trying to work on) and I use DILD/MILD to induce lucid dreaming. So my questions are: how do I keep up a constant awareness in waking life? How can I make my MILD more effective? And how do I stop getting overexcited and waking up from a LD? I'm planning to update this workbook weekly, although I'll pop in every day or two to check on advice and questions.

Welcome to DILD class and congrats on your first LD!

Ok, so pretty much everybody wakes up from excitement, until you get used to it. You may try and tell yourself during day, that you will not get excited in the dream. But it may just go away by itself after a few more LDs. I still wake up sometimes from excitement and and don't really mind, because that feeling is awesome.

ADA - it will take a while to get used to that mentality - always be on the lookout. Just do your best and practice everytime you remember. Or set up some reminders - sticky nostes, watch alarm...

Here is a great article about self-awareness. It explaines very nicely the awareness thing. http://www.dreamviews.com/wild/13181...prep-part.html

And here is my very short daytime awareness question with RC and mantra, that helped me to get my first 20-30 DILDs. http://www.dreamviews.com/dild/13212...ods-dilds.html

Good luck and wish you many more LDs!

Hey there! Thanks for the response! Yeah, I'm starting to remember to keep up ADA throughout the day, I try to sit down and just take note of everything for 5 or so minutes and keep mental notes of all the sensations I'm feeling. Hopefully that will translate into my dreams, haha. I saw your daytime awareness question and I like it - I did something similar but yours sounds a lot more easier to do, so I'll try it out. Anyway, I'll report back in a few days after I've tried out these new techniques.

This week I changed my ADA routine a little - shorter periods of awareness, but more frequently so I build it as a habit - and it's been showing noticable results in my dreams. I haven't become lucid again...yet, but last night I recgonized a friend in a dream I hadn't seen in years. If only I had done an RC! My dream recall's been suffering this week, though, I'm only remembering dream fragments though I usually remember full dreams. I'll keep working on it and hope to achieve an LD this week!

Dream recall may fluctuate. Sometimes for seemingly no reason. But if you have good recall most of the time, than I'm sure it will come back.

ADA is for you to adjust. The goal I guess would be for this awareness to become our lifestyle. To be always aware. But every little bit helps and short, frequent bouts of awareness may get you to your goal.

You can RC IWL also if you see something strange. Even, if it's not so strange, but you just tell yourself that. Hopefully this will help in dreams in unexpected situations like seeing a friend you have not seen in a while.
