was I in control or not? conspiracy type dream

I had a dream last night about a massive conspiracy. I am not sure what they were hiding but I was trying to find out. There was a part where I found something on a public trail that was extremely suspicious like a little black technological thing. A man and his son came over to me and explained it was a basketball hoop and the man was able to almost change the device into a basketball hoop. I then said, "There is no way that's a basketball hoop and that is not yours it was on public property." There were no police officers in sight but I managed to summon one I think because I looked down the trail and there was no one and all of the sudden he was just there because I wanted him there. The police officer agreed with me and then the man pulled out a small pistol and tried to kill me. Me and the police officer forced the gun away from my face and then the man pulled the trigger and shot himself accidentally I think.

This is really weird because I think I was able to remain in control by using logic and fighting a DC. But later in the dream I tried to summon my ex-gf and was unable to. Then I woke up. Plus the whole dream was about some conspiracy many people did not want me to know.

This is a problem for me I need to try more but I definitely have a problem summoning women. It's probably to do with real life problems but it seems like if I was able to stop a DC from taking control of my dream I should be able to have whatever I want because that was definitely weird seeing him change that thing.

Were you in control? You tell us, you were the one who dreamed it. For the sole reason that you're asking the question, I believe you weren't in control, but only you will know.

If you're asking if this was a lucid, then please note that lucidity isn't synonymous with control and control isn't synonymous with lucidity. If you knew you were dreaming, it was lucid. If not, then no. If this part doesn't apply to your question, then I apologize - please disregard.

Like Clyde machine said, lucid dream is when you know you are dreaming...
For your summoning problem, I think you didnt summon the officer, your subconscious did.
How did you try to summon your ex-gf? Only looking for in a dream isn't summoning. To summon, you have to make it happen...
Or your subconscious think your ex-gf doesn't want to see you so you block...

I think he/she was non-lucid and not in control, they were doing as the plot directed them to. I'm pretty sure they weren't asking if they were lucid, but I didn't understand the question enough to say that they weren't, so I figured I'd

Ok I am still trying to figure out this lucid thing thank you for the help. I now know that it is easier to be lucid if I am leaning against something, for some reason I definitely can do it that way. In this dream that I had it was not lucid I can tell that now and I was not leaning on an object.

What bugs me is that I realize that im dreaming and then I have this feeling of being in two places at once so I can't handle it and wake up. But I definitely will try again. I swear leaning with my neck against something really works.

That's exactly what happened to me back when I was trying the WILD technique; I'd get to the transition but kept thinking about how I could still feel my physical body, which made me come back out of the dream. It takes practice to avoid, but it sounds like you've got things figured out.
