Anybody used this type of control before?

so last night i had 2 lucid dreams, the first one was pretty much over before it even began, but the second one was pretty cool

I was in this house with this kid and he was trying to hurt me, which made me realize that i was dreaming so then i quickly started persuading the kid to get away from me i was like, "Dude, you should go get your girlfriend so we can take turns having sex with her" he stopped dead in his tracks and said "good idea!" and he left the room. i was relieved and began doing reality checks to increase my lucidity, i was astounded at how real this dream looked which is another reason i kept doing reality checks, so anyway shortly after that the dream started fading and i woke up.

what im wondering is if anybody else has controlled there dreams just by stating things out loud or telling a dream character to do something?

Yep, I think thats called passive control. I've did this a bunch of times in the past but it doesn't work for me all the time. For instance, I have stated out load before that when I open this door I will go to another area, then I open the door and I'll be wherever I wanted to go.

Yeah, a really good exercise for increasing dream control that seems to be along the same lines is to stand in front of a door (in your dream), and say "Behind this door is _____" (you fill in the blank). Think of a person, an object, whatever, and say it a few times while visualizing yourself opening the door to find the object you're imagining. It will probably take some time to get the hang of it but it can work wonders by building your confidence and getting you used to verbally manifesting things in the dream world.

By the way JamesLD I love the scene that's depicted in your signature, one of my favorites ever.

I control my dreams by describing an object or event before it occurs / exists, with my eyes closed. When I open them the change is set. I basically speak "out-loud" what I want to occur, as if I am telling it to my dream.

Tell me how it goes! It seems to work with everything from objects to people to environments.

      Lol, that's hilarious xD

I guess I've used similar. Last night I had a dream. I wanted to meet someone so I just screamed their name. They came running around the corner to me

Indeed. But sometimes I'm afraid I'm actually screaming in real life. All of a sudden you hear "JESSICA ALBA" from down the hall and people think your mad.

      LOL!

I do pretty much the same thing, only I don't waste time talking to DCs (they really annoy me when I'm lucid). Instead I just blast them with emotions like a care bear stare.

I think they would think you are healthy and appreciate that you have taste for real foxes

To the topic : I usually will everything. I rarely use verbal attachement though. Maybe if I am influencing DCs like you did in that example for my personality, the sheer willpower seems to be the best way. I have trained it by materializing things out of thin air by just looking at the empty space. It was a bit tricky at the beginning, but now I can do it well everytime. No need to close eyes or spin around anymore
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

The first LD I had (and the only one I have actually "enjoyed"), I controlled it this way. In fact I decided to fly, but at first I just floated straight up. I figured out that if I said what I wanted to do aloud, it would happen. For example: I wanna fly forwards, and I would fly forwards, I want to fly really fast, and I would fly really fast. Eventually I learned to control it without having to say it, but I get what you mean =D, yes I have controlled it that way

haha, I was actually thinking about that when I was about to sleep in class the other day. I thought about if I LDed in class, but it actually wasn't an LD and I screamed someone's name xD

I mostly use passive control, ex. I go through a door in any sort of structure, expecting the world/location I'm thinking of to be on the other side.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

That's exactly how I do it, Demara. When I want a DC to do something though, I just imagine that I'm professor X from X-Men, and can will anyone to do anything I want, and then I just sort of will them to do it. Idunno, it's weird. For a lot of people that would be considered active control (which to me is a bad thing) but the way I do it, it's not. it's passive. Difficult to explain.

As for making people/objects appear I still stick with the "expect it to be behind you, and it will be" approach. 60% of the time, it works everytime.
