Umm.. I DO NOT DREAM.. ever... any thoughts....?

I am starting to feel like a robot..

I do not dream... simple yet confusing.. You must think WAIT he dreams everybody dreams.. maybe he just doesn't remember many of them right?

      Wrong.. or just not right...

Think about this... As I read up on Lucid dreaming there are many methods to gain more access to the dream world, tap into your dreams and make them seam real. etc.

I mean I have a WILD imagination.. I am a musician. A writer, A webdesigner/graphic artist, I love psychedelics.. I love creating things.. etc.. but I have nothing to dream about... because I dont dream.. But it wasn't always this way..

When I was a little boy I had a crazy imagination and had lucid dreams, premature hallucinations like crazy when I was 6-8... This became a real problem as most of my dreams where NOT happy.. that or they where just fucking with my head or something *I am not phyco or schizophrenic mind you* never have been and grew up in a loving family and went to pretty okay schools haha. Anyways these dreams got so out of hand as I got older I trained my self not to dream.. They got so bad that every night I had to lay in bed repeating *DO NOT DREAM, DO NOT DREAM!* over and over in my head (sometimes out-loud)

and I continued to say that every night until I was about 16-17 Now I am about 21 and haven't had a dream *or remembered one* since I was about 11-12. not even a tiny relocation..

So i believe that I physically trained my self/brain NOT TO DREAM..

I promise this is real.. I do not dream.. I have no hint of dreaming... People say when I sleep I am very undisturbed and I dont toss and turn alot.

Does anyone else have this problem..?? I am starting to feel like a robot haha I cant dream! and my roommate started talking about lucid dreaming and I dont even think about dreaming that often because i simply dont...

Everytime you go through a sleep cycle you dream, simple as that. You just don't remeber it.

Everyone dreams every night you just have to start reading up and focusing on techniques that help you remember them.

First you absolutely need a dream journal and a waking life journal also helps alot. And you need to start doing reality checks.

What they said though...It's highly unlikely that you're not dreaming. It's just like a repressed memory, or for that matter repressing a certain part of your day. It still happened, it's just easier for your mind to not recognize that it actually happened to save yourself other painful memories or mental anguish stemming from the certain activity. For instance, you could be taking medicine every single day, and if you choose to not accept that you're taking anything, you'll eventually get to a point where your mind skips over that period of the day.

Maybe not a good example, but I hope it helps? If you really have to, try waking yourself up multiple times during the night. It might screw up your sleep pattern a little bit, but if you don't normally wake yourself up after dreams (which seems likely since you say you don't have them), waking yourself up at a few different times would help you to potentially wake up right after a dream, so you can at least recall tidbits of it, even if its just an odd remnant feeling rather than a memory.

Just my two cents...Someone more experienced could probably help you more...I just know my own thoughts x.x

Just a thought because your username is "Veggie": if you're a vegan, do you supplement with b12? They say it helps with dream recall.

You told yourself not to remember your dreams when you were younger, and so it became normal to not remember your dreams, tell yourself to remember your dreams, and when you wake up, stay still and try to remember even the most remote visions. This will make your brain essentially train itself back into remembering your dreams. A DJ, although it might not seem possible now, would still be of help, if not in a week or two.

The other possibility to help train yourself is to stay awake and relax when your very tired (or deprive yourself of sleep if you want it quicker) and just relax and stay conscious, and you'll start to see things, it works better if you wake up in the middle of the night, halfway through your sleep and do this. Either way, you'll get hallucinations, Hypnagogic imagery, and paying attention to it will help your brain get more used to putting memory priority on your dreams.

Most important tip is to not give up if it doesn't work, and don't stress out about it. it might take a few days, but you'll start remembering pieces if you really try, and then you'll be on your way to intricate dreams once again.

I think you do dream. Because it's what the brain does, we think during the day all day. We go to sleep, and those thoughts become a form, a dream. You simply chose not to remember anything. It's like that example, don't think about elephants. What do you think of? Elephants. You can't train your brain to not think, because that is all it does, whether your conscious of it or not. Even after 100 days of me telling you not to think of something, you will. You can't physically control it. You can stare at a wall for 24 hours, and try not to think. But the act of trying started with a thought. Now take those examples and apply them to your sleep. You can't stop your mind into entering REM, you can wake yourself up every 5 minutes, but you will still enter it when you do finally fall asleep. I can pretty much say with a 100% certainty that if you wake yourself up 4 hours after falling asleep, you will remember a dream, or a thought you had when falling asleep. So you either have a severe case of not remembering, or you are trying to attract attention to yourself, and bs*ing us.

You could always try to repeat "I will dream!" or smth like that before going to sleep if you think you made yourself stop dreaming.
However, if it really is only about recalling them, then just make alarm go off 3-4 times during night. Even if you can't remember anything in the morning, I'm pretty sure you would if you woke up in the middle of a dream.

      another whack of suggestions:
Don't use an alarm clock, wake up naturally. That means you oversleep till you eventually wake (in some cases you wake, piss, go back to sleep).

If that don't work, wake up prematurely in your night of sleep, and fight the urge to go back to sleep. Then take a lengthy nap in midday. Doing that will skip your initial stages of sleep right to the REM stage.

Also, tell yourself that it's important that you remember your dreams, before you go to bed. Picture (visualize) yourself waking up and remembering dreams, which you write down in your DJ. As someone mentioned here, a waking life journal where you just write down everything you've done the whole day in present tense has helped many with better recall.

      Best of luck!

Exactly right, You always dream, you've just told your mind to not remember them as a self-defense mechanism. You just have to train your mind in the opposite direction. Say to yourself "I will remember my dreams." and see what happens

You taught yourself mentally to have no dream recall. Thunk of it like reprogramming that part of your behavior. Now, what you've got to do is just the opposite. You've been accepting lack of recall for some time, so don't expect it to happen overnight (lolpun), but if you stick to it you can get enough recall back to start a dream journal. Any technique like that is just about the will to remember anyway.

before I started getting into lucid dreaming, I mainly started because I never remembered any of my dreams, but now my recall has improved SO MUCH ever since I actually started to TRY to make it better just start making a dream journal and trying to find your REM state via alarms, it will take some time but it will improve
      good luck
