      Flying High in dreams?

hello, I've been lucid dreaming for a while, but just recently i have been able to fly. But how can i increase altitude? Like i can go down the streets with ease, but when i try to go higher, i start to drop to the ground. Any tips?

The problem could be that you don't think of what's up there. You've never been way in the air just going up, so it's harder for your brain to think of the scenery automatically. Try thinking of what it's going to look like before or while you go upwards. That's what I had at first and it wouldn't allow me to fly high up into space at first, but after thinking of what it'll look like I could do it no problem.

Same, when I'm flying for a certain period of time, I start to slowly sink, having to flap my arms every few seconds or something.

Shiranaiori's suggestion is good. Maybe you could watch videos of real clouds and see how they behave, react to something flying through them, etcetera. Another possibility for your issue is that you're starting to think of gravity, which causes you to drop.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

There is an ideal ratio between height and speed for flying, based on how well you can see your surroundings. Everything requires your attention to exist in dreams, so flying fast at low altitude makes everything blur and it's hard to focus on your surroundings. Flying too slow at high altitudes creates a perspective where it doesn't seem like you're moving. You need to increase speed the higher you go.

Try a couple different versions of flying. Props/crutches like wings, broomsticks, and portable jetpacks could really help you out.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

Hi, i've been working on controlling this for quite a few years. I'm 22 no and have been dreaming about flying since i can remmeber! i used to fly down streets at quite a low level but more recently i starting running and jumping. then just jumping really high but be able to stay up there for while. But i feel like my whole body is tensing to do this. I mentally concentrate and use all my energy to get myself as high as i can and stay there as long as possible. But it doesn last long ans i start to lose all energy for the jump and eventually cant even lift off the ground. One time i had a a similar dream, running and jumping through my street when i started to lose the energy an Eagle came and picked me up and carried me for ages. It felt amazing. I woke up feeling like i'd had an amazing experience and i'd been higher than i will ever be able to myself go. No idea what Eagles in dreams mean if anyone knows i'd like to know this is my fist post to this website and ive read some amazing things. Keep Dreaming as they say xxx

I got the same problem on NUMEROUS occasions, and I'll check out the suggestions and report the results. Unless I end up 'necro-ing' this thread...

I wouldn't worry about that. Even on the forums where necro-posting is a ninth-circle sin, you'll be fine if you're posting something relevant.
