      Trouble flying.

Ok, so I have had a decent amount of LDs now. I just have one problem....flying. I have tried many times with my mind set on it happening and 100% no doubt and knowing I can do it, but still I fail every time. Has anyone else had this problem, any solutions? Maybe flying just isn't for me.

How aware are you of your body in the dream? I'm a big fan of the user Mzzkc on this forum, and he has written a couple threads on Dream Control that I find very interesting. He seems to suggest that self-awareness is the key to dream control in his thread here. He also suggests dream control is achieved by manipulating attention and expectation in this earlier thread here. If you have not already, I highly suggest you take a look at all the reading material he suggests in the second link as I found it extremely informative.

      Hope this helps!

      Ryman:

First, take Dino's advice and check out Mzzkc's Unifying Theory of Dream Control, because it'll help... Mzzkc's got some good ideas in this department.

But I do have one thought for you: remember that when you are flying in a dream, you are not actually flying! "You" are asleep in bed somewhere, and the dream character "you" is just a figment of your dream, part of a world of your own creation, and that creation includes all the laws of physics you care to obey, deny, or change to your own whim. In other words, stop thinking of it as flying, and start thinking of it as simply moving about your dream universe in exactly the way you expect to move. If you can get past the "impossible" part of anything in a dream, you'll find that it was always possible.

Oh, and for what it's worth, having "my mind set on it happening and 100% no doubt and knowing I can do it" hints to me the opposite -- that a part of you still feared flying was impossible. Don't do that; just accept that the dream world is yours and yours alone, including its rules, and fly. Don't ever let it be a big deal, because then negative expectations -- like gravity -- will win every time.

      Good luck!

Here are a couple threads that should help. Remember that your mind will at first rebel against anything it thinks is too shocking. Get your brain used to the idea that amazing thing do happen in your dreams. Start with powers that are a little easier to grasp, then after your mind gives up and accepts you have amazing things happen, it will stop fighting you. Try a couple minor powers like, jumping onto a one story roof, skating across dry ground, or being able to lift a very heavy object like a grown man (not a school building just yet).

I heard on this forum a few years ago, dont concentrate on flying somewhere, but bringing an object in the distance closer to yourself. The mountain to mohammed so to speak.

From what I am gathering I should not try to fly, instead I should manipulate the dream world to basically warp around me.

I found that deliberately jumping off of a tall building to intentionally hit the floor facilitated it. At first, fear will wake you up before hitting the floor, and then eventually, you'll hit the floor....and you'll get up. With no fear of falling, flying becomes fearless.....and so one's mind is free of doubt.

Furthermore, any non-lucid falling dreams will no longer wake you up.....but act as an aid to achieve lucidity. ^_^

Rather extreme, but I can see this working.

So, I finally flew last night in a lucid. I was in my school and I ran down the hall bent my knees down as much as possible and sprung up and forward expecting to fly and boom I was airborne. It worked pretty good, but when I went outside to try it I could only spring up fairly high and sort of float back down. But I think with a little more practice I can get it down good.
