A new technique to prolonging a lucid dream?

This is my first post here, so hello everybody.

I had an interesting personal discovery tonight that I wanted to share and discuss.

I became lucid in my dream and after a moment of fun the dream started to fade and I realized I am in the process of waking up.

I reminded myself to prepare for a false wake-up and started spinning round. The spinning helped a bit but not enough.

What happened next was a surprise.

I was spinning in a sort of corridor and as the dream was fading I noticed a door and opened it.

the dream world I saw through the door was vivid and I walked right through it into a stable and vivid lucid dream.

      Is this a known technique?
Has anyone experienced something like this?

      Cheers,
      Nir

The dream didn't end actually... that's all that happened You kept focusing on the dream... it's known.

I think you misunderstood me - I did not think the dream has ended and I know that generally focusing on the dream is recommended if it starts to fade.

I am interested to know if walking through a door is a specifically known technique for prolonging a lucid dream (and an interesting one too).

It had an Alice in Wonderland flair to it, as the corridor including myself were already half faded and washed out and the dream-scape seen through the door was vivid, and by walking through the door I walked into a stable lucid dream.

Doors, portals, tv screens, that kind of thing all seem to allow the mind to easily recreate a new environment. It's been done before yes, usually to teleport or to create a new dream. But well done for doing it!
