Exclamation Struggling with Dream Control? The Power & Weakness of Doubt.

Hello Dreamers! I have thought about something for a while, and just wanted to share it to you! Don't know if it's been written before, but this is so important for proper dream control that I'm writing it anyway

If you, like me, sometimes have trouble controlling things in your Lucids, listen well

You see, a lucid dream is taking place in you own heads. Your own minds. And what person is in control of your own mind (well some of it at least)? YOU!
Thinking about it that way, dream control doesn't seem hard at all.

And it really isn't. The dream control in itself isn't hard at all, it's the Doubt that is ruining the fun.

Let me explain this with an example of my own lucid:

I'm in some kind of store, with men dressed in fancy colored suits dancing around. As they're snapping and dancing to some music they start noticing me. After a few seconds, they're coming closer and closer. Suddenly, I get claustrophobic, and I want the people to go away. I stretch out my arm and point a finger at one of them, hoping that I can make a sort of chain lightning. I concentrate, and... Nothing happens.

I remember the feeling when the lightning didn't came. It was just as I did it in the real world: I just KNEW that it wouldn't happen.

I think the reason for this is that we live most of our lives in a world where flying, chain lighting from fingers, teleporting and so on doesn't happen. Our expectations, logic and common sense tell us "you know, this isn't going to work" simply because it usually is impossible for such thing to happen.

But in our own minds, our own lucid dream, it certainly is possible, and before doing any other things in your lucid (exept stabilizing and such) you should remind yourself of that. Get rid of all doubt and thought saying that you're still in the normal. How you want to do this is up to you, but make sure that it really sinks in, and I can almost guarantee that your dream control will improve.

Of course, practice makes perfect, also when it comes to dream control, but this is a good way to kick-start

interesting i find i have the same problem in lucids. I know it is a dream and i will try and defeat the enemy but am unable to. perhaps it is some reflection of my life challanges on a day to day bases, meaning i know what the right action to take is but i do not take it. But, i digress. I like the idea of leaving behind limitations. Keeping an open mind in the wakening world is extremly important in having an infinite mind in the dream world, for me at least. I feel the best practice for me is to "try and imagine 10 impossible things before breakfeast" as stated in the recent Alice and wonderland movie. I will try thinking freely over the next month or so and get back to you on my results. Thanks for the post

This is 100% true. For my first dozen lucid dreams i tried to fly, but after i couldn't the first attempt, i became certain that i just was not able to fly. However, after reading a post similar to this, i became lucid the next night and said to my self "This is all a dream and i can do anything if i believe it" and up i went!

Billybob wisely suggested in his guide The Infinite Universes of Lucid Dreaming that the dreamer travel to an alternate universe where incredible things are possible. By going to a universe where super powers are real, your mind has no doubt that you can harness those powers. I would highly recommend that everyone take a look at his guide.
