Can things be a trigger to help you having a lucid dream?

Well basically in the past month i have had to dreams where i asked myself if i was dreaming or not (i never became lucid sadly) but i realized that those nights that i had those dreams where the exact same day i played football or the day after.

So i was thinking to myself that maybe this is happening because football was a big part of my life when i was younger and i stopped it sadly but now ive been playing alot in the past month.

Can this be a trigger or is it just coincidence?

I believe this may just be a coincidence. I've never heard of certain physical activities having any measurable effect on a persons lucid dreams. The only factor that may have any affect in this situation might be fatigue but I am unsure how this would affect your ability to lucid dream.
My Lucid Dreaming Motto - "I have walked upon the the surface of a burning star. Observed events so infinitesimal and instantaneous that they can barely be described as having occurred at all. You... you're just a dream character. And this world's most powerful dream character poses no more threat to me than it's smartest cupcake." - Dr. Manhattan (kinda)

I don't know, there might be some reason to it. The fact that it might trigger good memories could be a cause of more lucidity in dreams, or maybe that the increase in activity causes you to feel differently when entering the dream.

All of that is just speculation though, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility. I usually have most of my lucids during days in which I feel really content and less when I feel tired or annoyed.

I think there might definitely exist a connection. Like when a lot of people say they start having more lucid dreams due to playing more video games.
