      Learning Abilities?

So, I have pretty much succeded at stabalizing and becoming lucid in dreams, so now I want to focus on abilities. I don't need them to be cool, but mostly used for survival and transportation, since most of my dreams have threats to my survival. Some of the few abilities that I would like to learn are:

      •Conjure a sword
      •Firebending
      •Healing
      •Telekenisis
•A fast way to get around (However that may be)

So how do I start trying to achieve these abilities in my dreams? When I learn an ability, is it like a bike, where I won't forget how to do it? Any replies are very much welcomed.

When you first get born you start out by crawling and then you learn that a more effective way is to stand up and walk with your legs.
Later on you are probably introduced to water, and when you try to move you realize that you can no longer walk in order to move and navigate.
You then learn to float and swim.

The way you navigate in the dream world is by intent. So in other words the dreamworld is a reality with no rules or restrictions which is why all you need is consciousness and free will. Think about a sword and it's there, think about telekinesis and you can do it, think about a place and then you are standing there! However there is one thing that can block you which works as a part of your intent, although it can block your original intent.

And that is fear and expectations. If you fear that you aren't able to do it or expect control to be hard then you are not going to be able to do it.
Because you made it that way. It's the same in the physical world, all people have the free will to learn to lucid dream and master it, however when times get tough people fear that they aren't able to do it, and they choose to quit themself. We are always in control.

Anyway the best illustration of how this works is probably the Matrix Jump-Program Scene:

Neo here intends to be able to jump over the roof, however he fear the jump itself and his ability so he expects that he wont be able to do it.

This is the hierachy of will:

      Intent-Fear-Expectation

Anyway if you fail the first few times, just remember: "No one's ever made their first jump" and "Everybody falls the first time..."

Here is a little seminar about fear and how to handle it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrVgwTSONbI

      Have fun!

There are many ways to face it. Normally, once you learn something, it will stick in you due your future expectations: "if I made it before, I can do it again."

This can vary though, especially like context. Imagine for example that you're a bit less lucid, or in a situation of confrontation. Sometimes you might have trouble redoing these actions because of your emotional state (a bit nervous, not much lucid). Also, the ways you use to perform dream control can also influence future actions. If you are one of those people who's talking to the dream works, then you'll have a pretty good chance of developing that further.

And by last, try giving the Dream Control tutorial a read for some more insight

And by the way, moving this to Dream Control ^^

You just have to REALLY believe that what you want to happen, will happen. That's really all there is to it.

You could also try verbally asking your subconscious- "Can I have a sword?"

A fast way to get around could really be anything. You could go with teleportation, flight, driving a ferrari, running super fast, the batmobile, etc.

Telekinesis: I did this one the other night. The way that worked best for me was similar to how they did it on the movie "Chronicle" (using hand motions).

      Kind of like this:

Healing: You could just heal yourself, anything is possible. You could also make a healing potion, or just make yourself invincible (I prefer this one).

There really is no one method to doing anything in a lucid dream, anything can work if you think it will.
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...
