Faking "stuck in the dream, can't wake up" for lengthening lucidity?

Every once in a while on other forums I see posts about people complaining (hah! I wish!) about being stuck in lucid dreams, feeling like they want to wake up, but they just can't seem to wake up. Maybe they got a long recurring false awakening chain for instance. It struck me that they probably had built this expectation somehow that they couldn't get out of the dream, and so the SC obliged and kept them in the dream.

I got to thinking -- what if one could fake this expectation, like "false memory" dream control, to cause longer lucid dreams? Perhaps it only works while it's the only and primary thought, but it would be cool if you could keep it as a background thought ("I'm stuck in this dream! It won't ever end!") while you're doing the stuff you wanted to do...

I don't think that you would need the fear in there, simply believing in a item or place would work. Some people have talked about going into the hyperbolic time chamber. Fear is a good way to make it happen, but I have been stuck in a dream and I lost my sight (I lost it every time I got out of bed and noticed it was a dream) and was being thrown around by a dream entity that didn't seem to have a body. I love nightmares, so no biggie for me to be scared for my sanity after the 7th FA and then 10 minutes later be awake and laughing and happy that I had an experience that scared me so much. Lucid nightmares are really more scary than regular nightmares (because you are aware) but now I invented something for me to own false awakenings (for me) and that helped me a lot!

In conclusion, it could work, but have a good grip of your sanity. I have had a few nights that I just wanted to wake up. i can be in the dream world longer now than i used to without that want.

Interesting about the time chamber! Will have to pay that place a visit! Yes I'm sure once I get frequency up and move to earlier and earlier REM lucidity for longer LDs I'll be more satisfied, but now with approx 1/week frequency 30 seconds seems too little. Maybe going in the chamber, setting up one of those hourglasses so that "I will wake up only when the hourglass finishes" and set it for one-year length and see what happens! I could always wake up by exiting the chamber and returning to regular time-flow. Interesting things to try!

What's your FA owning technique? Did you have to "do anything" to get FAs? They just don't happen to me. Do they happen more with increased frequency? Or WILDs/DEILDs? With a DILD-only approach I don't seem to get them.

Well I did "wake up" two weeks ago to see my older son as a younger boy standing with a ghostly illuminated face looking at my wife and me while we were "sleeping" (creeped me out, I called out "(S1), what are you doing!?"

....does that count? I'm never sure if FA means only waking in your waking life bed, or waking anywhere in the dream world.

Yes. I wish to try it. I would have to make it a goal though... And I have goals. Haha.

My FA destroyer? My trifecta! The triple threat. No matter what FA I have, even if I dont realize I am dreaming, will become an LD through that. To create FAs. I think that waking multiple times in the night does it and if you set multiple alarms every ten-twenty minutes apart you will start having some. There is a system for it, but I don't remember the video, and for you it would be difficult if you can't get to sleep!
