help! anybody else have premature dissipation?

      Hi all :-)

Basically, I can have a lucid dream easy enough but over and over again it starts off with me being physically stuck; if I'm lucky maybe I can move my head.

My body is frozen, and I'm fully lucid and can see a wall in front of me or a ceiling above me or a floor below me depending on which way I'm facing.

The wall/floor/ceiling is usually pretty standard unassuming and plain. Just your average old fairly bare wall or floor.

I know I'm lucid but for all my will I can't move or do anything else. A few moments later the dream ends.

This happens over and over. Can't seem to break this rut.

      Any tips?

I think this inability to control the dream is due to stress. I've had dreams where I lost the ability to move after becoming more stressed and I've had dreams where I gained the ability to move after letting go of stress.

The stress comes from the belief that something in the past, present, or future is not okay. Letting go of stress is a matter of convincing yourself that everything is okay. Think of how you would comfort a person who is scared or disgusted or angry or sad about something and try to comfort yourself and the dream in the same way.

I have a lot of stress. If I can get this to work, I'll report back.

I was kind of hoping for something easy like "blink 5 times" or "sing a song" or "imagine a third hand" something easy like that for a quick jumpstart. Now I have to do work in my real life!

It's counterintuitive, but convincing yourself that its okay to not be able to move can help you move. Just relax and try to let go of your worries.

I was never stuck like you describe. Sometimes is hard to move though, like I'm standing in a tar pit, haha.

Can you make any changes? Like materialize a picture in front of you? Like a poster of something that you like, maybe a beach? Then teleport there. I use "I am there" intent to make myself stretch to the location.

Or I just "know" I have binocular vision and I zoom in on something distant and "I am there". I admit though, I think I'm able to use this only in lover levers of lucidity.

Have you try verbal commands? Shout out "beam me up, scotty" haha. Or something similar.

Good luck and let us know : )

I have tried this and it did help some. I'm still not where I would like to be but it is nice to see a bit of progress.

In addition to stress, these kinds of LDs are, from anecdote, a sign of fatigue and/or lack of sleep. If these are problems you're experiencing, try reviewing your sleeping habits, then correct it such that you prioritize restful sleep over awareness in dreams.
