What I do is find a door, open it not really expecting it to change or anything, then I close it and then picture the room changeing then open it agian. You can also try flying some place but that one doesn't work for me as well. |

The door method. IE getting to where you want to by finding a door, believing the place you wanna go is on the other side, and then opening it. It had worked for me a couple of times but it does not seem to anymore. So what I need is suggestions on other possible methods. I had tried spinning before and all that does is wake me up. I had been having trouble even finding a door for a while but my last two lucids I found doors quite easily. No matter how much I believed and evisioned what was on the other side, it instead kept being "what it should be(within the setting of the dream)" IE I was in a dream that was taking place at my college, plenty of doors, but they all lead to classrooms. In my own house the doors lead to their respective rooms etc. So basically I need another way to pretty much entirely change the dreamscape. No small feat... |

If there is no door, you can't use a door, improvise. |

"What if I were to tell u that you can take control...of all of this? Look at all these people. Seems as though they're just all chatting away? Nothing to do with u. And yet., maybe they're only here because u wanted them to. U are their god. U can make them obey u or even destroy u."
-- Vanilla Sky (movie)
Yeah, I have difficulties flying at all, and when I do succeed I usually don't have any destination in mind. I am still fairly new to lucid dreaming, my experiences only starting about two months ago. As for the door thing, that is interesting. I actually think it would be easier NOT knowing what was on the other side. Since the logical portion of my brain tells me that what's on the other side of the door is static, that it isn't going to change. Even though I know in a dream such things are not true, it's really hard to turn off that logic. For instance in my dream where I was in my college, in real life behind the doors were classrooms. My brain knows this and thus subconciously expects them to be there when I open the door. However with an unknown door, the brain can only wonder at what lies beyond. This for me makes it much easier to control the outcome. |

~If at first you don't succeed destroy all evidence that you tried!~
So I had a very vivid lucid dream last night. I dreamt of WILDing and indeed dreamt of succeeding WILD, which caused me to become lucid. I became lucid in my bedroom and it was pitch black (as it would be in real life at night). I preformed a BUNCH of reality checks, since if I had actually woken up I would be in this exact same setting. Well the reality checks showed I was indeed dreaming. My first task was to get out of my bedroom. I suppose I could of used the door and exited into my house, but that wouldn't have been any fun. Instead I decided to just go through the wall into my backyard. Having never attempted to pass through solid matter before I first tested the wall by pushing on it with my hands. Solid as a... wall. Not really discouraged I decided maybe if I just attempted to leap through it I could do it. I stepped back a bit and jumped. I made it 75% through and kind of stuck. My head was outside but a portion of my torso and legs were within the wall. I could see outside and it was daylight and quite a nice day. I wriggled free of the wall and then was completely outside. I decided to try find a dream character and ask them how to get where I wanted to go. Well I could not find any people, the only other entity around was one of my cats, Muffin. As silly as it seems I decided I might as well ask her. Upon doing so she took off running so I followed her, thinking maybe this was gonna work. After a while of running and also flying I realized I wasn't getting anywhere. I decided to attempt to summon a transporter device to take me where I wanted to go. I couldn't summon one but then I stumbled upon one nearby. I remember thinking "Oh duh, why was I looking for a transporter, there's always one right here." It took me to a cave like setting. I explored for a while. It was kind of neat. Eventually I found a hole. I decided that I would jump down this hole and at the bottom would be my destination. I plunged into the hole headfirst. It worked, and I found myself in exactly the right place. At first there was a wierd mismatched size phenomena, but I remedied it quickly. Overall another awesome experience. Kudos to you guys for the suggestions! |

Well i know what your problem is, because first when u started using that method you were hoping that it would happen as it was supposed to happen, but now since u did it a few times, you dont hope itll happen but you know itll happen - and that's the problem, you CAN'T know what will happen, because thats completely illogical for your mind and it blocks it. |

I tried the door method too and it didn't work for me either. I wasn't trying to step into new scenery; I was trying to make a certain person appear, but I thought about it and then opened the door and it was just an empty boring room |

Well to be honest, I was attempting to change the scenery and summon a person. I'm trying a new method now that I have high hopes for. All throughout the day like maybe 10 times a day I tell myself what I am going to do the next time I become lucid. That is, how I'm going to reach this person. I tell myself that when I become lucid, I am going to turn around and at the same time speak their name. They will have been standing behind me all along waiting for me to become lucid, turn and see them. Then we can work on changing the scenery together. I really think this is going to work. |

I became lucid because of a false awakening this morning (first time that's happened). Anyway after jumping through my bedroom wall to get outside again, I immediatly tried my "turning around and speaking their name" method. It didn't work and I learned something important. For some reason, and I don't know why, any quick rotational motion (I.E. turning around quickly, or dream spinning, basically spinning motions) causes my dreams to fade. Well anyway I managed to refocus it. Then I just decided to call out this person names as loud as I could and maybe it would work. Oddly enough I could barely speak at all, the louder I tried to speak the softer my voice was. Nevertheless after probably 20 seconds it worked! My dream ended shortly thereafter but regardless it worked. Gotta make sure to try that again, and figure out why I couldn't speak very well. |

No need for doors or spinning or anything like that, just change where you are. Nothing around you is real, so just have it to change to wherever you want to be. |

It's really interesting that you say that. My lucid dream last night started in my room (false awakening). In my room it is COMPLETELY dark. Before I go to bed at night I cover any and all light sources. The reason I realized it was a false awakening is because for just a second I could see the sky through my window. My window is normally blacked out when I'm sleeping. This caused me to attempt a reality check and realize I was dreaming. I got out of bed and peered out the window into my backyard. I saw the sky which looked like rain, the pond which is behind my apartment and a lot of people. I put my hand on the glass to try to go through it (which I've never managed before). It felt solid and cold, like glass. I stepped back from the window a few feet and got ready to dive through it (which has worked before). At this point the room is completely black. I dive through the window and arrive in my backyard, just as it had looked through the window. I suppose maybe if I hadn't of looked, anything I wanted to be could have been beyond that wall. I'll have to try that next time I become lucid in my room. Also of note is the fact that I CAN dive through walls and windows. Seems like a good way to change the scenery to me. I'll have to try that soon. |
