Most of the time dream time and real time are nearly identical. However, I've had dreams that lasted for a long time, but REM cycles (during the night) are 20 minutes max, so they must have been sped up. |

Isn't it weird how you wake up, it's 10:12.. go back to sleep.. have one of those long, interesting, beautiful dreams that seem to last for hours and you wake up and it's only 10:15? |

You'll rarely dream longer than 45 min. That said, I believe you can make dream feel like hours or even days. However, I think the stories about dreams lasting for what seems like months or years are over-exaggerated |

Most of the lucid dreams I have had only lasted on average under 2 minutes, because once I comprehend I'm awake in that state I get very excited and my mind is just blown on what to try, usually I just float a bit or call out for someone to respond. For me lucid dreams are a great place to flex your mind and imagination. I've had one that lasted a good 30 minutes though. Never experienced a time lapse or anything so far. |

Long dreams and lucids are an illusion, they can't be longer than the REM cycle. |

I know what you're talking about: I've had dreams that go on and on but only actually last a few minutes. But most of the time dream-time is similar to real time and I've actually been able to accurately estimate how log I've been asleep while I'm still dreaming in cases where I know that I have to get up soon and don't want to oversleep. |

There's a huge difference from a lucid dream at 6:00AM and one at 7:30. For me, that extra REM period can drastically extend the length and lucidity of the dream... |

Non-Lucid dreams usually last longer. I often fall asleep after hitting the Snooze button of my alarm clock and have a dream that goes hours, then waking up and it's only ten minutes later. I guess that's just because you remember it stretched back to normal time. The dream actually happens at rapid fucking speed but when recalling it, your brain stretches it to realistic time measures. |
