Deep thought during the Day. Can it help me?

I have a really quick question. I just started doing a lot of visualization practices of my own during the day. I make a story up to create a image in my brain (this is with my eyes closed), and then i play it out trying to imagine the all of the senses into the "meditation". This is actually very fun to do, especially if you have a very creative mind. Another thing i do is keep my eyes open and try to create the image of an object ad block out the object or material behind it. This is extremely hard and i have not done it successfully (but I'm close!!!). Anyways, i just wanted to know if this could help my dream recall or vividness.

P.S - If your bored some day, just give this a try. It actually keeps your brain functioning really well and its pretty freaking fun to do.
Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

I actually done this everyday for seven years so far (I want to be an author). It's a great way to increase visualization skills. I can almost tune everything out doing it too. As for increasing dream vividness or recall I haven't seen much of it. When you normally dream sadly your subconscious has control, not your conscious.

However this technique works well for premeditating how your going to control your dreams. You won't have to waste precious time thinking about what your going to do in your dream. Hope that helps.

I'm currently involved with visualization actually, mainly for WILD, well I don't make up stories in my head I just visualise random stuff, sometimes letting my subconscious take over, and yes I believe I have acheived the ability to visualise with my eyes open and have it completely cover up my physical site, though if something moves I can loose it, it's just a matter of focusing my complete attention on the visualisation and leaving non left to focus on real life. Though beware if you stop for even acouple days only your visualisation ability could fall quite behind (at least for me), I've learned this mistake over and over again, as I've practiced visualising for the past 6 months.

Yes I actually have seen it have a possitive effect on the vividness of my dreams, but that could be placebo.

But don't underestimate the power of the visualisation system in the mind, it can be very powerful if you go about it the correct way, and its uses well, it can be used to have lucids on command I can imagine, because I've seen people who have used it for that purpose, theirs a few guides on it as well.

I don't know how helpful visualization would be during the day, but if you try it as you're falling asleep, it can really kick start your WILDing.

Just visualize a scene, yourself interacting with it, and it eventually turns into a dream.

I read this book about on how to get a perfect memory, and all the techniques explained were all about visualisation. Basicly its encoding all the information into a structured dream and remembering the dream. Thats how people remember PI up to 5000 digits or thats how people can remember a whole pack of cards just by looking at it once! I have tried this myself and I can, still up until today, remember pi up to 50 digits by just reading it and visualizing it once. This is a quote from the book
It is interesting to note that with the help of training you can achieve an unintentional image rotation in your imagination. Experience shows that exercising visual thinking when you are not asleep results in the ability to operate the images you see in your dreams intentionally.

That qoute, I've found that very true, I can visualise whatever I want to dream and kind of go into it, at least much more then I used to when I'd visualise something in the past I couldn't enter it.

when I wake from a dream I can visualize the dream and sometimes go back into it. Sometimes I visualize myself spinning and rubbing hands at the dream location that I was just at. But, I think I need to train myself to not move and to do it immediatley after waking though, as thats when it usually works.
