Just a technique I found in one my dreams that was very effective and helped me.

Let's say your in a scary situation right now in one of your dreams, someone's
or something's chasing you. Try spinning fast while focusing on ONE thing around your environment.

After doing this, it didn't help me wake up, but the whole entire dream did change. It's very effective, it all depends on how vivid your dreams are, but nonetheless, it works.
