      no control :/

I just had an extremely long DILD. Like 1 hour +... The issue is that I had absolutely no control over it except for where I went. I tried to fly, no go, I tried to shoot a fireball out of my hands, no go, I tried to teleport, no go. I had the same restrictions I had in real life. Any suggestions for dealing with this?

Weird, did you try using magic or spirit-energy? That generally goes against the logical part of some DILDs. Oh right, what kind of control did you try to use? Like, just going ahead and doing it, or asking the dream for something to appear? That may be an important factor too.

I was going with the 'just do it' approach.

it's all about knowing you can do it. Whenever you try anything in a LD, don't believe you can do it...know you can do it. Visualization helps as well. If you can see yourself doing it, it also helps.

If I have problems with doing a certain thing in a dream, I'll resort to other sources of media for help. Watching a movie of some sort where the characters are doing things that cant be done in real life. Daydreaming about what I want to do in a dream when I'm finally lucid. Or just working on it again in my next lucid. Practice makes perfect yah know.

I suggest closing your dream-eyes to make everything black / the dream disappear, or clapping your hands to make large sounds. Basically doing something that isn't out of the norm, but has a recognisable impact.
This exhibits some control over your dream, and doubt seems to disappear without consideration. This easily opens the way for greater control through expectancy.

It's more effective than finding a way around, because with the latter you are deliberately exerting effort against/around an established doubt. With exerting some control that is already expected to work, the doubt isn't taken even to consideration, and expectancy/belief is reinforced.

Changing the focus, not focusing to change.

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

I personally don't have very many problems with dream control. Everything seems so natural and possible to me in a dream.

However, for your flying problem try the method I use. This is Robert Waggoner's method from his book "Lucid Dreaming, Gateway to the Inner Self". In his book, he talks about flying using intent. You simply concentrate on the exact spot of where you wish to be, intend yourself there, and you will be brought to that location by the power of intent.

I have experienced this very effective method a number of times. Once I was standing in a swampy marshland-type area. I looked up at the clear blue sky and focused on one spot off in the distance. I intended myself to be there, and then I could feel my whole body pulled to the area of my focus. After arriving at this spot in the sky, I broke my focus from that area and was pulled back down to the ground by the dream gravity. I was then left to wander around in this new green, open meadow.
This method has never failed me in bringing me to where I want to go, however it is not usefull if you just wish to free-fly. Unless you are skilled to focus and refocus where you are intending to go during mid-flight.

As for your other problems of shooting the fireball and teleporting. I can't offer any exact advice. However, I have had experiences in doing both of those tasks.
For Fireballs, the only thing I really did was "will" it to happen. Though with any task I recommend narrating your actions, it's very helpful. I want to try narrating an entire dream and see the impact it has. Maybe I will try that next...
For Teleporting, The nearest thing I can think of was when I was in my room and I wanting to fall endlessly throughout the sky. So I stuck my arms out, closed my eyes, and fell backward while imagining that I was already in the sky. When I opened my arms I was falling and I watched the clouds pass me by. However, I hear most people try spinning when they wish to change the dream scene.

Anyways, I hope you can learn from my experiences. I read your dream and laugh but also agreed at the comment on the iPad.

you have to forget everything you know about the laws of the waking world. you have to truly believe that you can do anything, dont just try to fly, accept the fact that theres no such thing as gravity in dreams and know you can fly

When you're in the lucid state remind yourself that this is your dream. That you are making this happen. You control whatever goes on. Remind yourself it is not real life and you can do whatever you want. Sometimes being in your dream is so real that its hard to convince yourself that you're actually dreaming. Keep your confidence and keep trying! Good luck

If you want to fly why don't you reach inot your pocket and pull out a pill to give you super powers.

I have heard this is meant to work very good.

The possibilities are endless... Take a phone out of your pocket and call your subconscious and ask for the ability to fly...

You have to let go of all of your attachments to reality and relize that there is no spoon. Free your mind!

Ah, I think I found the problem! Reading through your dream, you just gave up on active control and didn't try again... but even so, you HAD control, I mean, running like Sonic, going through solid objects and the like? Ah well, a lot of control methods have been covered already, I quite like the one from ClouD, closing eyes is one of my favourites too.

I often convince myself that I am a God in my dream. Seems to work, although, i still have problems with creating things and scenarios, I am only able to manipulate for now :X

There is spoon in no spoon so in order to eat.... think that there is no spoon... and there will be spoon. But if you just think there is spoon, you won't really be eating... Okay.

Thanks. I think one of my strengths in dreams is humor, my dreams are usually very bizzare, and in the long run funny, so maybe yelling "I'LL TAKE A FIREBALL... AND SHOOT IT OUT OF MY HANDS!" Will do the trick.

In the mean time, I've learned to be thankfull for the control I do have (I.E. Becoming lucid), I think it will be a learning experience, and much more fun that way. I'll fly eventually, but I'll learn to fly. It would be no fun to be all powerfull. No challenge in that. No, I've gotta work for it. Thanks for all the suggestions everybody! I'll keep trying, so keep 'em coming!

UPDATE: I may to be able to fly yet, but I am extremely good at teleporting. Its the easiest thing I've done in a dream. Thanks for all the help!
