      White light

About a year ago I had a dream which I can only describe as "Devine"
For some reason it's been in my head lately. It's fairly short. The dream started with me walking down the street on the sidewalk on a normal day. I hear the cars and the birds, just random ambient noises. Suddenly all sound stops and there is a strange silence. Then, a massive earth quake strikes and I was scared to death, probably the sacredest I've been in a dream. I started running down the street and at that exact moment, I vanish from that scene and I'm surrounded by a very intense bright white light in all directions, as bright as the sun yet It didn't hurt. I felt a very deep sense of peace, it was very harmonious, indescribable. It was the best feeling I've ever felt. Then the light faded out and I was awake.
I've done research on NDE(near death experiences) where people report seeing the same light. I've looked all over the Internet and can not find anybody who has had the same experience in a dream. It's very confusing to me and I would appreciate*if somebody could give me some insight on this, thank you.

My first impression would be that you are at peace with the idea of death.

I've never had a white light dream, but I have been led through a hypnotic dream state before. The hypnotist told me I was seeing a series of things: "cup, house, forest, etc." and how I saw those things is how I feel about certain things in life. The end of it was: you are walking through the forest and come to a fence with a gate. What does the gate look like? What is on the other side of the fence?

My gate was a white wooden gate, like you'd see on a picket fence. Beyond the fence was more sunlit forest.

The hypnotist said what the gate looked like is how you view death. What lay beyond the fence is what you believe comes after death.

Since then I've been quite content and not afraid of death. I think it's a good thing. Many people spend their whole lives running from the idea of getting old and dying. It's much healthier to embrace it, I feel.

You're right about me being at peace with death.

Ego death. This kind of things happens all the time in heavy psychedelic experiences and, as you've said, near death experiences. Though it's very rare, I have heard of one or two other people experiencing it in a dream. I'd consider yourself very lucky, this doesn't happen to just anybody without them having to search for it first.

I understand what you mean about the death of the ego, I think that much of what goes on in a dream is a reflection of self, so an ending of the world dream signifies a big change in ln lifestyle. I'm still puzzled as to what the light means.

Join the club. It's kind of one of those mysteries of life, left to be decoded by your own personal experiences and feelings about it. Some people think it's God, some people think it's the link to the universal consciousness, some think it's just reaching the soul, and some think it's just your brain being overloaded. And so on, and so on. Whatever is though, it's something special.

If it was during a normal dream it could have been the onset of lucidity. But you woke up before hand. When I lucid dream from a dream, I always have lights cover my vision, then the new dream begins after a few seconds.

It's basicly HI while dreaming. I've had HI where I get rolling rainbows, to instant visualizations, to a solid color. But while in a dream, it is usually intense distorted colors of the rainbow. Everyone is different tho. While in the dream I usually think I'm high until lucidy sets and I realize.

That sounds cool, very psychedelic. I've never really had any interesting HI like that, it's more just light delirious stuff or very smooth transitions into the dreams with practically no hallucinations. In dreams the change from non-lucid to lucid is most often so little that I can't even exactly pinpoint it. It's not even that I realize in-dream that it's happening, it's kind of like it just goes from me not knowing to me already having known all along. It's kind of hard to explain.

this morning i had a lucid dream in which i spinned and after that the dream faded and i felt like entering a different dream, but halfway i felt likea machine turning off ( sounds and vibrations decreasing ) and a white lighta filled the scene. i felt like i was dead and out of fear i opened my eyes. i also can relate this dream with major changes in my life..
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way
