      Question Death personified? Demon?

Background: I used to have hypnopompic hallucinations (medical term for sleep paralysis before waking for those who don't know), they run in my family. I don't have those anymore but I still have freaky dreams. Both my father and I have had prophetic dreams on many occasions. My grandmother and great grandmother on that side was a witch, if that explains anything. I know some people don't believe dreams can portend the future but it's happened to me frequently.

For example, just last week I had a dream that someone was checking the locks on a certain door in the house and they weren't locked properly and I felt a vague feeling of danger. I didn't think much of this dream. A couple days later, I woke up to find my roommate hadn't locked that door or shut it closed enough so it had been wide open and my cat was sitting just outside it, he was a few minutes from getting out and getting lost (I live in a city, this would be bad).. Problem is, I can never seem to differentiate the dreams that are basically bullocks and subconscious garble, from dreams that have any psychic or spiritual significance. I just have to wait and see, basically.

Anyway, without further ado- the dream that this thread was made for, this dream that I had yesterday that had a weird extrasensory feeling to it.

I was in a restaurant and I sat down alone at a booth. I saw a man who seemed like he worked there as a host/waiter type employee, and even though it isn't something I usually would do, I called him over to come chat. He sat down across from me and I could now see his face close up and I got chills. He had a small pointy/heart shaped face, wrinkles like he was a smoker, a sharp but somewhat wide nose, thin lips, and round saucer eyes that were the (naturally occurring) color brown that looks orange in certain light. I felt something volatile within him. He was immediately suspicious of me and he spoke through his eyes. I tried to reassure him that I didn't know anything I just innocently called him over to speak with him, but as I rambled on I increasingly became aware that I knew more than I thought. Just then, I saw these faint grey clouds/wisps that can only be described as "death" hovering/swirling around his face, as if they had been there the whole time but I could only see them now, and I knew he had done really abhorrent, evil things- that he was responsible for so much incomprehensible evil. He didn't deny it and his eyes confirmed it, but he didn't come after me either. Then another man came and I had to escape, walked through the restaurant, etc, unimportant part of the dream.

I usually take my dreams with a grain of salt and don't go online to ask for interpretations, but for some reason I'm doing it now. Besides the overall tone of the dream, one thing that's been bugging me is just how he looked. I know they say you can never see a person in your dream that you've never seen in real life, but I've never seen him before. Always in my past dreams I just "sense" who someone is and don't look at their faces, certainly not up close, but this mans face was in such rich, memorable detail. His face was distinctive and I would have remembered it.

What I'm looking for is any interpretive guidance, or anyone who has seen the same man in their dreams or anywhere.

I am not into interpretation, but i'd say that is not really uncommon or impossible to see a face in dream that one won't remembers from waking life. It could have been face of random person you've seen but didn't remembered, or it's possible for dream character's faces to be 'generated' based on several faces, or rarely, be even more unique. Though if you are interested in dream interpretation, i'd say wait for more replies from people who are actually into that.

Interesting dream and it would be interesting to hear it all, from start to finish, because keys to unlock the dreams are often found in the details. "The truth is in the details!"

I do not agree with the common notion that you cannot see a face in the dream you haven't seen in real life. What is the rationale behind that idea? We all know dreams create all types of creatures and scenery we have never seen in real life, sometimes with splendid detail, all sorts of images -- why wouldn't the dream be able to create a human face, of all things? We are all able to consciously create faces with our imagination and if we are skilled we can paint them, that the unconscious would be unable to do so would be quite bizarre...!

Personally I believe that you haven't seen him in real life, and I don't think anybody else has seen him either, in outer or inner world. Sometimes we dream of "the other", the other within, so to speak who seems to have vast knowledge, or radiates with goodness, or scares us with it's pure evilness, and it can be a wise old man, a beautiful woman, a devil, a ghost, sometimes there is nothing special to his/her looks, there is just something about him or her. What that person "means" in this particular dream is hard to say, especially since we don't have the dream or context for it.

For YEARS..the time i was say, 15 to 20..i had reoccuring dreams.
but. i also had seemingly normal dreams inbetween.
the only thing was that there was THE SAME MAN..in all my dreams except for the reoccuring ones. But the man was always in the background, never really a main character..i never talked to him..but just noticed him looking at me, or watching me..
he was in his thirties, short brown hair, 5 oclock shadow, sometimes wearing a hat, like a short top hat.
but i dont know this man in real life, and cant remember ever seeing him anywhere. he doesnt remind me of anyone i know, but i have always found him to be attractive. =)
