man i must be doing something wrong

first of all im sorry if my thread doesnt belong here, im new to the forums
i am currently working on attaining lucidity, my dream recall ability is already pretty good.

i woke up today remembering 3 different dreams! wich is a first for me, so i must be advancing,
the thing is the dream were highly unrealistic.
one involved cats changing into dogs and dogs changing colors.
the other involved a scifi world wich looks very different from ours.
and the third involved people from my life who dont know eachother getting together in my room and hanging out.

all of these things could have been clear signs of a dream! yet while dreaming its seemeed to escape me somehow..
i try to practice lucidity during the entire day, i usually tell myself "you're dreaming" then i need to proove otherwise, i do this ALOT, like 10-15 times a day.
is there anything i am missing? or just keep on trying?
      thanks

He don't worry, just because you can't obtain lucidity yet through recognizing bizarre moments doesn't mean you're on the wrong track. Just keep practicing your reality checks consistently and you're bound to become lucid. Just curious, how long have you been practicing LD?

You actually sound like you're on the right track. Don't be discouraged if you don't immediately recognize weird things in your dreams. When you go to sleep, the logic portion of your brain kind of shuts off, so you're more likely to believe anything you see. Sometimes your brain might even make up reasons as to why something is the way it is. For example, with the dogs and cats, your brain might convince you that they've always done that, or maybe it's a side effect of their flea medication.

The key is to keep training your brain to notice oddities, even when you're asleep, and know that you're dreaming. With reality checks, it can sometimes take a while until that training starts to kick in, so I would advise you to just keep trying, and don't feel too bad if you don't notice the obvious signs.

Awareness and memory are dulled in dreams. Given that they're usually pretty dull in waking life for most people to start with, that places the dream levels of self-awareness and memory way below lucid recognition. So in LD practice we raise our waking levels of self-awareness and work on memory, too, so that even when faced with the dream-dulling factor, self-awareness and memory are strong enough to get lucid. This takes time, just keep doing what you're doing, becoming very familiar with your dreams is one of the foundations of lucid dreaming.

      sorry for the slow response
at time of the post i was at about 2 weeks or 3 weeks practice
since posting i have stopped practicing lucidity (gave up)
and now trying to pick it up again because i have witnessed a drop in my ability to recall dreams and i think there is a connection
