      Consistent Recall!

      Hey guys,

Back when I discovered lucid dreaming about 3 or so months ago, I could not remember my dreams. Literally, remembering a small part of a dream one day out of the week was great for me, I was pretty much a "Coma-Sleeper".

Nowadays, I've been remembering a dream each night of the week lately, and sometimes I don't for one or two nights, but overall it's been quite good. I'm just amazed at how much it has skyrocketed.

Also I feel that when I tried really hard to remember my dreams, I failed to remember them the next morning, not always the case. But If you are going full flex I'd consider kind of stepping off the gas a bit. Being active on the forums I believe has also helped me, and lucid dreaming has sort of become part of my life, making dreams feel more important and not useless.

Hopefully, I will start having more lucid dreams soon because of this, but if not... oh well, Progress is great when noticeable and non-lucids can be entertaining and interesting.

Just thought I'd share my success to inspire others and show that recall can be boosted even if you don't remember often as I didn't.

Well done! I really like your attitude towards lucid dreaming and how you stress the importance of making progress instead of solely focusing on 'wanting to have more lucid dreams'. Just as you said - trying too hard can lead to the opposite of what you actually want to achieve. I have experienced this as well so I couldn't agree more.
anyway... keep going and good luck!

Good job! Recall is a great thing for LDing. Keep up all the good work and you will be having consistent LDs in no time.

      Remember to set goals like:
"remember a dream a night for ***** days in a row"
"Remember two dreams in a night twice in a week"
"Remember three dreams in one night" -when you are finished, there will be cake.

There should be a time stamp on these so that you can be constantly forcing yourself to do and being extremely happy when you accomplish them before the needed time. Make some easy goals, and some goals that are just out of reach. Leave the really hard goals for long term. Like: "Have 7 LDs in one week" and have the time stamp for that in 6 months or so. That way you know at what level you should increase your current goals to hit that goal.

      I might be rambling.

I like your ideas Brandonboss. I might do that. Maybe write my goals down. Right now I'd be happy remembering just one dream per night. Lately I've been lucky to remember a dream one night in three.

It's a bit ironic, I used to remember a dream every other night or so, give or take. Then I started this LDing and increasing dream recall, and it's gotten waaaaay down. However, EmptyBucket, you will be pleased to know you've made me feel a lot better. In particular, you stated something my mother told me today when I was feeling pretty down about going 3 nights in a row remembering absolutely nothing. She told me that it might be just that I'm trying *too* hard--something you alluded to in your post.

I'm glad you went from remembering zip ever, to remembering a dream a night. Really makes me feel like I have a chance too! Incidentally, those nights you didn't remember anything, what did you write in your dream journal? I've been writing the dream I would have liked to have, per my mothers suggestions. Did you do something similar?

      Hey Silver,

      Thanks for the kind words

I make a slot for every night in my I-Phone built-in notes app and if I didn't remember anything at all I would usually log a mantra for that day, like "I remember all my dreams", or something that means something to you related to lucid dreaming. I can't say for sure but I believe this kind of told my subconscious that remembering my dreams is important and whatnot.

The weird part is that my recall started as very buried if there was any, meaning that if I remembered any dreams I would remember something 1-3 hours after waking up, so I would end up going back to the journal and rewrite it out, this might just be my weird recall idk, doesn't happen as much anymore.

Bottom-Line : Make a commitment to write in your journal every morning, even if you remember little to nothing, it will become important to you. A thing that helps me with consistency is writing in down in a notebook of mine, like saying "Write in dream journal every morning", It makes me committed to doing that thing every day, even if my damn hand is falling off.

And yes! you have a chance as does everyone, it takes discipline if your willing to put it forth.

      Best of luck
