      Recent sexual activity help recalls?

      Ive noticed that if you have any sexual activity, be it with a partner or masturbating, before sleep, you have clearer more vivid dreams, and better recall.
      Ive observed this with me many times.
      On days where i havent had any sexual activity, in the morning, i have no recall.


      So for me, i think that if i dont orgasm that day, i wont remember any dreams.
      If i do, ill remember AND they are vivid.


      Anybody have anything to share?

      I've never tried/thought about it, but from what i've heard it's actually meant to decrease recall.

      I read that too. It's not easy to "devote" yourself to lucid dreaming like that, by giving up masturbation. I need both!!!!

      For me sexual activity kills my LDs. If I have sex or mastubate within a few hour of sleep I will remember fewer dreams that normal, and it is a pretty safe bet that none of them will be LD.

      Hmm for me Ive noticed the opposite. If i have sex or masturbate before bed, i will have very vivid dream recall. I dont know if it is better without sex or masturbating, i would say i havent tried it as im sexually active

      I *cough*tested*cough* this out over the last few nights in a few different ways. Obviously it's not the same for everyone, but at least for me my recall is non-existant. I can't remember any part of my dream; sexual activity certainly blocks my recall.

      I find the same thing happening to me. I had no sexual activity for about 4 days, and woke up without recall on the last one. I masturbated and the next night I remembered 4 dreams! But if I masturbate everyday, my recall becomes less than average.
      Either sexual activity in moderation is required for good recall, or I need to get used to recalling without sexual activity.

      I haven't really tried it, but I can see it going both ways for different people. It probably varies.

      Now that I remember, I do think I had one or two very vivid dreams after spending some time with my boyfriend.

      i've heard second hand that masturbation decreases recall, not that sexual activity with a partner does. Just a technicality. I also largely believe that if you keep reading this stuff, you will become hypnotized into believing it and it will become a reality. Thats not to say its not empirically true (although i dont know, im just saying maybe believing it with a strong conviction makes it affect you MORE than it should).

      Does anyone have any LINKS from credible sources surroudning this issue? im very keen to know the FACTS.

      I tried it but it didn't work any of the times for me.
      I got to tired to get up and write in the DJ or just same result as without.
      i read about others who got possitive result, so i guess that you're right, it's might help.

      I think it increases recall because it increases testosterone...

      My scientific facts about this, are very interesting.


      While abstaining from sex(orgasm in general) you may build up levels of different hormones, waiting to be discharged.

      When you orgasm, you release all your hormones, oxytocin - dopamine- serotonin. An orgasm is an explosion of hormones. THerefore if you have an orgasm before sleeping, your domapine + serotonin levels will be higher than normal. And more dopamine gives you more vividness in dreams and increased detail, and higher serotonin levels means that you will likey have a REM rebound effect, ALMOST garenteeing vivid dreams loaded with detail.


      Thats my theory.

      Hm, logical theory. I wonder if it is accurate. This would be interesting to test.

      Well ive been testing.

      Ive had mixed results, mainly because there is alot of interference.

      Everything factors in. What you ate during the day, how much sleep you got, how you were feeling before you went to sleep ( happy, stressed, sad etc), therefore it would be very difficult to justify something like this.


      But im sure ill get an answer some day.


      Oh yeah, i learned that if you have an orgasm EARLIER during the day, then load up on chocolate before you sleep, you will have even HIGHER levels of dopamine, and more vividness.

      This morning (slightly discussed under the Newbie section... hi everyone!) I woke up at 6am. I did so because my S.O. was getting up for work and got frisky. We had sex, and by 7am she'd left for work. I went back to sleep and had a LD. I have some control over these, so I pushed it in the direction I wanted to go- more sex! I actually had a second very enjoyable experience after a few tries, just as intense as the 'real thing'

      See, this is why lucid dreaming can get addictive...

      Sounds like more of a self-fulfilling prophesy than being hypnotized.

      And Moe, you should keep testing but instead of just switching off between the two, you should flip a coin or something to see which you are going to do. that might get rid of some of the interference.
