      Revise Sign-Ins

      Hello.

So umm, me and Zebrah decided that the current sign-in sheets need some revisions. In my opinion, it gets difficult to keep track of who's coming into your class and who's not, and this could benefit Serenitys idea of a class size limit.

Zebrah, what was that idea of yours?

There will also be a spoiler for the registration process. I didn't put it there because I haven't made a final draft. Studnets will reply this way (No ")

      "WILD-1
      AP-1"

Obviously there will be more then one class in each section as we go along.

And class durations can also be posted or they can all start at the same time.

Professors names will link to teachers pages if you like that idea

Ok. I just think maybe a darker green or a blue for when it reads "open". Maybe also list how many spots were taken then slash the classroom capacity, like for example, 25/30.

That's a good idea, lime is much to bright lol. And the 25/30 idea is very good. So would you like to start running semesters? Like a 4 week semester where all the classes start at the same time. Or would having an ongoing thread that you just edit be better?

Glad to hear it Louie. I need to message Naiya with my teachers application to help fill out the course list.

The course applications usually just end up getting posted here. It's called Professor Applications, then we discuss them.

As for the course list, you can always edit them. I believe you have Mod powers in our section. So for now, we can just put DILD and Dream Control but don't put my name down because pretty soon I won't be teaching. I think Naiya will be taking over DILD 1.

Louie would you rather it be a brand new thread and not in the old welcome to the DVA thread?

EDIT: I think it would be much better to get a teaching outline done like I talked about and getting a few more teachers. But if you want to get it out now that is your choice.

Also this is just a way of presenting the classes. I think what we should do is get the class list up and give people one month to register. The semester will last 4 weeks or a month. So durring the first semester more people can be registering for the next.

And as far as I can tell I have no mod powers.

And I think a realistic goal would be to get this new system up by the 1st of August.

Yeah, I'm cool with getting it out there. I think throwing away the older sign-in threads to the DVA Recycle Bin would be good. I'm just concerned that if we put it all in one thread, it would be hard to keep track of the new people going to each class. Then again, we could just start a new thread in the future, maybe in between semesters.

I don't think we should merge it with the Welcome thread though. Maybe update the instructions.

Ok guys, I'm thinking we should make this more personal.

Our current sign-in threads should be tossed. Here are my reasons:
      1. It's getting more and more difficult to find out who is/isn't signing up for your class. In all honesty, I admit to turning away from it when I saw that there has been a new post in my DILD thread simply because I didn't feel like going through the hassle.

      2. I think it would be more personal if the threads would be started by the teacher. The teacher lists their own time instead of someone like me trying to figure that out.

      3. I think I need a 3rd reason so I'm just going to say that umm... To be more organized.

I recommend using Zebrahs idea. I think the sign-in threads will be gotten rid of soon, however, that doesn't mean we can't live in the present and organize what we have.

      Who's with me?

That is a good idea Louie. Maybe we could have a master class list and then individual threads from instructors. Also how much of a strain on the IRC would it be for everyone to have a "classroom"/"office" like #DVAzebrah, #DVAlouie54, #DVAserenity. This way when a password is said in #DV it only effects one teacher which can be quickly fixed. And this way we don't run into scheduling troubles.

Yeah I'm not sure about that. Sounds like something to ask Alex.

Louie, I agree on the need to scrap the old threads. I want to start a couple of classes next week, and I'm a bit unsure where to announce it at this point.

Naiya post what classes you are going to teach and the info and I will put it up. Should I just put this one in place of the Welcome to the DVA thread.

Here's the info for the classes I hope to teach. If we need to push them back another week, that's fine too but I hope to start them as soon as possible. Anyway, should I make a sticky in the main DVA forums announcing open classes?

I spoke to Alex about the old registration system, and we can re-introduce that as a way for people to sign up for individual classes again. It should be running by the end of the week. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions about how you want it to work.
