Around 6:30 PM today (same day as the WBTB attempt on the original post) I decided to try a WILD again. It seemed so close, and I was extremely tired for some reason, so I figured I'd try it in a nap. I put myself under covers with clothes on (bad idea) I said to myself that if it got too hot in 5 min, I would just take the blanket off. 15 min later I noticed it was getting a little hot, but I was starting to feel a heaviness on my body that is supposedly a weak SP, and didn't feel like restarting it from 15 min in. It was a little hot, but I disregarded it. I figured I would be asleep before it got too hot.
I didn't really have any HI that looked like trailers or white spots or anything, but after about thirty min of focusing on relaxing (I enjoyed it, it was real relaxation) I got a half second dream scenario pop up. I knew what that meant . I started to imagine dream scenarios. I would get glimpses (longest was 2 seconds) of them, only part of them, not an entire scene. I would also get random HH, which I didn't experience as often. after about 45 min (these are all guesses obviously, and probably not good ones) I had one where I felt/saw one guy in front of me and one behind me that poked my chest/back in random places REALLY fast, and I could feel each one in succession., but it was only for a moment, less than half a sec (I felt 15+ jabs though, and oddly enough, it felt good, like a quick massage).
After that I Just kept imagining a dream body. I could only get dream arms, and I got it to where I could easily imagine my right dream arm grabbing a cherry coke off my ottoman, but no other part of my dream body or anything other than the ottoman and carpet. After about an hour total time, my bro came downstairs. He left his keys down there, right next to my head on a table, he turned the lights all the way up (no HI, but I did see the "blue dots" you can see when you close your eyes VERY vividly), heard him walk down grab his keys and leave and turn the lights off. I knew my WILD wasn't completely set back, but it seemed like it got set back by about thirty minutes. I did the same thing with imagining my dream body until a good while later when my mom had made dinner. I was disappointed, but not enormously so. I looked at the clock, 8:15. I guess I had tried for an hour and 45 min, but it seemed like an hour max. I also thought of doing some problem solving during the HH, and made a good outline for an invention to let people with casts for a broken foot/leg able to walk with an attachment to the cast... I was surprised by the creativity hypnagogia gave me.
Noted disturbances: heat, brother/timing and empty stomach. I almost always have an empty stomach before I go to bed, so I'm gonna eat a good meal before I sleep, and then WBTB again tonight.
I also wanted to say that I was on a road trip in the back seat a few weeks ago when I lazily tried to WILD, knowing it wouldn't work. instead I found something possibly more useful, the ability to control HI. there was music in the car, but I could visualize fairly well still. It was a 6 hour drive, and I was interrupted about every half hour. I was just playing with images, trying at first to visualize Aang from Avatar meditating in the avatar state. It took about 10 minutes to get a good image of him (he was surrounded by black and I could only see the outline and tattoos) and I thought 'hey, why not do an avatar fight scene?' Awesome idea. It seemed that creating fast moving battles was a little bit easier. Although not vivid at all, the fights were very fun to choreograph. After doing this on and off for the first 4 hours, I decided instead to have a discussion with someone through HH since the music was turned off. I found it was easiest to visualize speaking with myself. I was making up a discussion to myself, but ended up not really in full control of what the projected me was saying. It ended up talking about the reason why religions always use ascent as the symbolism for going to the divine (ascent into heaven, into the universe, ascending from the body etc etc) while simultaneously making the ground we were standing on turn into a pillar, bringing us up into the atmosphere.
I'm definitely going to practice this ability. Not only is it fun, it seems to be able to be used for creative ideas, and will probably help make with easier transitions to WILD, better LD control, and with my visualization/projection skills.
