      Shirani's WILD workbook

This is my crazy workbook, for WILDS. I figured I'd make it at my first attempt to WILD, rather than make the thread and then separate posts. It'll probably be important to note somewhere along the line that I have a broken leg, it's in a cast, and it has affected my dreaming... oddly.

My first attempt was last night, and it went surprisingly well. I fell asleep at 5:00 AM (I normally sleep somewhere between 3-7 AM since it's summer break for me) and set my alarm for 9:00. Oddly enough, my alarm didn't wake me up (It gets really loud, and it was right next to my head). nREM 3? I have been waking up before my alarm clock by a few minutes for the past couple days for some reason, but this morning I woke up at 9:25 or so. I didn't write in my DJ, I could only remember one fragment of a dream for some reason (I was a bit... insane in the membrane before I slept). I drank some water, attempted to to go to the bathroom, and thought about whether or not I should write in my dream journal for a few min.

Good thing to note, because of my broken leg, I hop around places on one leg when I'm in my house. I find it easier and faster than crutches, and it's easier to go up and down stairs. Because I hop, I've noticed it wakes me up a lot more than walking when I try to sleep. When I went to the bathroom just before I slept, I hopped slowly, and focused on relaxing instead of my destination, this helped me a lot.

I started to WILD at 9:40, and I was very tired and relaxed. I mostly just had to focus on keeping attention. Within 10 min, I noticed HI turning my whole field of vision into white. I tried to visualize myself flying into whiteness, into a lucid dream, but instead something else happened. It was extremely powerful HI, it might have even counted as a dream in general. My older brother came downstairs and grabbed my pants, then took drugs out of it. As soon as he did he said he was tired of me doing stuff like this and he it's time my dad knew the truth. I was so pissed and scared, I would have tackled him had I been able to walk/run, and I might have gotten into the dream if I did, and then regain the momentary loss of awareness. He ran upstairs and I jerked my real body up to try and get him. I was so convinced it was real, it took me a few minutes and a drug check to convince myself it was HI, but I didn't do a reality check. When I jerked up it was 9:54, so that all happened within 15 min.

I don't consider this a failure simply because it made me realize that I'm going to make sure to always do an RC after a WILd even if it appears someone interrupted me, and most of all, it seems I've found my good WBTB time. about 4 and a half hours. I was so close...

Oddly enough, I've never had HH that vivid till I started my DJ. Two days ago when I "woke up", I had my first non-lucid drug dream, about smoking weed with my friends, and then it switched to smoking by myself, and all of a sudden, my mom screams down that I need to wake up cause I have to go to the doctors. I saw her open the door, heard her call down, and still felt and saw myself stopping in the middle of a hit. I freaked out, and I felt my dream arms fade, the smoke clear, and the drugs disappear. I was still in that state of "holy shit I might get caught high" for a good five minutes. I did feel a bit euphoric after that for a good 10 min though. The reason I'm saying this, is because I'm wondering if it's possible to have HH with your eyes open, or if anyone has similar experiences. Sorry if this is considered off topic, I feel that it fits with what we're learning.

Damn that was longer than I intended...

Around 6:30 PM today (same day as the WBTB attempt on the original post) I decided to try a WILD again. It seemed so close, and I was extremely tired for some reason, so I figured I'd try it in a nap. I put myself under covers with clothes on (bad idea) I said to myself that if it got too hot in 5 min, I would just take the blanket off. 15 min later I noticed it was getting a little hot, but I was starting to feel a heaviness on my body that is supposedly a weak SP, and didn't feel like restarting it from 15 min in. It was a little hot, but I disregarded it. I figured I would be asleep before it got too hot.

I didn't really have any HI that looked like trailers or white spots or anything, but after about thirty min of focusing on relaxing (I enjoyed it, it was real relaxation) I got a half second dream scenario pop up. I knew what that meant . I started to imagine dream scenarios. I would get glimpses (longest was 2 seconds) of them, only part of them, not an entire scene. I would also get random HH, which I didn't experience as often. after about 45 min (these are all guesses obviously, and probably not good ones) I had one where I felt/saw one guy in front of me and one behind me that poked my chest/back in random places REALLY fast, and I could feel each one in succession., but it was only for a moment, less than half a sec (I felt 15+ jabs though, and oddly enough, it felt good, like a quick massage).

After that I Just kept imagining a dream body. I could only get dream arms, and I got it to where I could easily imagine my right dream arm grabbing a cherry coke off my ottoman, but no other part of my dream body or anything other than the ottoman and carpet. After about an hour total time, my bro came downstairs. He left his keys down there, right next to my head on a table, he turned the lights all the way up (no HI, but I did see the "blue dots" you can see when you close your eyes VERY vividly), heard him walk down grab his keys and leave and turn the lights off. I knew my WILD wasn't completely set back, but it seemed like it got set back by about thirty minutes. I did the same thing with imagining my dream body until a good while later when my mom had made dinner. I was disappointed, but not enormously so. I looked at the clock, 8:15. I guess I had tried for an hour and 45 min, but it seemed like an hour max. I also thought of doing some problem solving during the HH, and made a good outline for an invention to let people with casts for a broken foot/leg able to walk with an attachment to the cast... I was surprised by the creativity hypnagogia gave me.

Noted disturbances: heat, brother/timing and empty stomach. I almost always have an empty stomach before I go to bed, so I'm gonna eat a good meal before I sleep, and then WBTB again tonight.

I also wanted to say that I was on a road trip in the back seat a few weeks ago when I lazily tried to WILD, knowing it wouldn't work. instead I found something possibly more useful, the ability to control HI. there was music in the car, but I could visualize fairly well still. It was a 6 hour drive, and I was interrupted about every half hour. I was just playing with images, trying at first to visualize Aang from Avatar meditating in the avatar state. It took about 10 minutes to get a good image of him (he was surrounded by black and I could only see the outline and tattoos) and I thought 'hey, why not do an avatar fight scene?' Awesome idea. It seemed that creating fast moving battles was a little bit easier. Although not vivid at all, the fights were very fun to choreograph. After doing this on and off for the first 4 hours, I decided instead to have a discussion with someone through HH since the music was turned off. I found it was easiest to visualize speaking with myself. I was making up a discussion to myself, but ended up not really in full control of what the projected me was saying. It ended up talking about the reason why religions always use ascent as the symbolism for going to the divine (ascent into heaven, into the universe, ascending from the body etc etc) while simultaneously making the ground we were standing on turn into a pillar, bringing us up into the atmosphere.

I'm definitely going to practice this ability. Not only is it fun, it seems to be able to be used for creative ideas, and will probably help make with easier transitions to WILD, better LD control, and with my visualization/projection skills.

It's possible to have HH with your eyes open, yes--but what you're describing sounds like a full-on dream to me (in the first post). It sounds like you succeeded in WILDing, but you lost lucidity when the dream started. IF that's the case, it's very good news, because all you need to do is practice keeping your awareness and RCing every time you get up or wake up from a WILD attempt.

Playing with HH is a great way to entertain yourself until the actual dream forms, btw, and well worth exploring.

Thanks for the feedback, and yes, I am now doing an RC after every WILD attempt, just a note here I do believe I almost successfully WILDed once, only I had a short lapse in consciousness when I transitioned, and remembered to be aware about 10-20 secs in the dream. I don't consider it a WILD, but it was a WILD caused DILD. Also, in Wisconsin (not during the drive) I tried to WILD once, after about an hour I felt SP, only, I felt it all in my leg. I was sleeping sideways, I kept having the ability to move my dream body, I would move my dream arms, imagine that I was jumping (worked very well, and I try it when I'm WILDing sometimes. Seems the motion helps with the transition just like it helps with HH) and I kept trying to visualize myself in the room, jumping, but my attention would keep being brought back to my leg for some reason. Turned out, my knee was on a vein in my leg, and I didn't notice till three hours later. I decided to quit because I thought it wasn't healthy xD.

I tried to WILD this morning, but I was a bit... out of it. I woke up a couple times, I fell asleep at 3:45ish and woke up at 6:30. I decided that wasn't long enough, and fell back asleep. Woke up at 8:00 or so, and tried to WILD (I got up to go to the bathroom, but that was it), but my bro came down at 8:30 or so and asked me for something (turning on the lights like always...) Too much movement, and I was so tired, I decided to try to MILD instead. Failed the MILD, but that's not what this course is about is it?

I woke back up at 11:00 to go to the doc's for a blood test, and between 6:30-8:00 and 8:30 to 11:00 I had some very vivid... odd dreams, but not so much as a DILD. I didn't get much sleep, so I'm going to nap and try to WILD some time today.

Bah, can't you just tie up your brother at night or something!? lol. It's frustrating just hearing about it.

I tried to WILD last night (this morning) I fell asleep at around 4:00 and did a MILD, I became lucid and when I noticed the dream was fading, I tried a DEILD instead of a WILD. It was prolly only about 6:00 or so. When I did that I slept through my alarm clock (set for 8:35) and woke up and tried to WILD. 10 min later I stopped to the sound of cleaning ladies vacuuming the floor above me. They come once a month, and normally later in the day. I think I might have bad luck...

You got lucid as the dream was ending, but that still better than nothing. Congrats!

I guess it's pretty common to have an accidental DILD after a failed WILD.
