Jakro's Workbook II - Vengeance.. I mean Dream Control

      Assignment
      Part One
Read through your dream journals and write a paragraph on how your dreams are created! Do you dream about work/home/school a lot? Old neighbourhoods or your current ones? Do the plots resemble real life (as in people, places, etc), or are they often very far-fetched? Can you think of something they resemble?

I used to dream a ton about school, even in last year (I've now had three schoolfree years). Also after army I had dreams about army for months and still occasionally have dreams about having gone back there with some faulty logic -reason like "additional 6 months of service". Those type of dreams have both gotten more rare though.

I've been doing a sort of Simpsons marathon this month and before that so at the start of the month I had like 10 nights in a row dreams about Simpsons.. Actually now that I checked it 18 of 24 dreams I've recalled something of this month have had some kind of reference to the Simpsons. So yeah, direct proof that day's events creep into the dreams.

The plots seem to vary. Sometimes they make good sense and make you amazed of your subconscious' ability to create stuff but sometimes their just seemingly random connections between things. Example: In one of my Simpsons-related dreams Bart owned a mint pastil factory in Arizona.

Overall I can't pin down whether my dreams make sense or not. It really depends on the night. Sometimes my dreams make perfect sense and maintain their continuity amazingly, yet sometimes i'm just thrown around from situation to situation and from place to place.

      Part Two
Write a brief paragraph on your understanding of what a schema is and how you could potentially use it to accomplish something you’ve never done before (ex. flight).

Well, I tried once to turn night into a day by flipping the light switch but it didn't work. In terms of schemata I think it could've been plausible thinking the relation with light and day etc. Then again, the light switch doesn't event put the normal lights on always in dreams.. Though even that's the fault of schemata, as BillyBob states in his post! I actually read that post probably year ago originally and since then I've tried to enter various world's when lucid, though usually with bad results.

How do you usually try to enter different worlds?

I've tried the teleportation trick with the mirror thinking that it will take me to other world, it has worked never. Then once I got lucid and my brother was around as DC, so I asked him if he could show me how I can get into different world. He took me to our barn and there was some sort of transparent "doors" there, some sort of portals. He went into one and disappeared. I tried to follow but I just went through the thing! I checked from my DJ and it said that I felt cold the moment I went through, but nothing happened. I was still at the same place. That's pretty much it, through doors, mirrors and portals.

Have you ever teleported somewhere in a non-lucid? I haven't teleported, lucidly, yet (I had someone teleport me, though!)... but I have done it in a non-lucid... I figured I would try it that way! In non-lucids, I just close my eyes and snap my fingers, imagining where I want to end up. Seems to work, there! I haven't had enough control over my recent LD's to test it out, yet.

Closest thing to teleportation thar I can think from the top of my head is the fact that once I played FEAR with computer in a dream and got completely inside the game. And when I escaped the level I was playing I was back at my computer. I'll search my DJ if I'll find something more to add.. Nope. So teleportation haven't really worked for me in non-lucids either - though haven't really tried it in non-LD''s.

      Homework
Read the basic task of the month and come up with a way to actively and passively complete the task. Describe how you became lucid (WILD Dream sign RC ect) and then stabilized the dream. Then walk me through how you completed the task in each manner.

I actually already had an LD this month but it was one of those instinctive ones where I just knew that I was dreaming, so I'm going to instead use one non-ld army dream I got couple of days ago and convert it for this assignment:
So I was back in the army for some reason and we were commanded to clean up some hall. There was one of my old school buddies as well in the scene while I was mopping up the floor. Realizing that none of it makes sense and that army is my most common dreamsign, I do a RC and become lucid.

Passive way of completing the task:
Many ways would work here. I could 'expect' the mushroom patch to be maybe outside the hall and just go walking through it. Just turning around and hoping the mushroom patch springs up might also work. I might also ask for help from my DC budd, or maybe ask him if he knows any mushroom patches around and if he does, I could ask him to take me there.

Active way of completing the task:
Someone used seeds to grow the mushroom patch in the task-thread if I remember correctly. Other than that it would need magic.. The hall's floor was moist after our cleaning, so I could use my faulty logic for me and make the mushroom patch grow right there. That might work for me, people with better control could do it with more varying ways, like maybe molding the mushroom out of something and then seeing it multiply into a patch.. Anything goes.

So yeah, there it is. Little hurried answer as I didn't expect the third class coming already.
