Man I was loling so hard last night at all that. Sony's won it big time. Microsoft probably won't completely fail, cause there is still certain types of people that will make use of it (or fall for their bullshit). But Sony's won the actual console war, for sure. As for price, us in the UK get fucked with both consoles, as usual. Xbox is 499 USD, but over here we get it for 429 GBP, when it SHOULD be 320, which is a fucking maaaaasive difference. PS4 is 399 USD, and here we get it for 349 GBP, when it should be 260. Again, massive fucking difference. Sure, I'm happy for all y'all in the USA that get the PS4 for mega cheap, but over here we're being fucked in the ass with a cactus on both systems. (In your language, we'll pay around 540 dollars for the PS4 and 660 dollars for Xbox)

500 is too much for a freaking console in this day and age. And it's not "mega cheap" when you factor cost of living differences. If they would have debuted with a simultaneous 500 price tag, I would have waited and built my own computer. Last Gen PS3 came out for 499/599, and we weren't really putting up with that until the price drop, so I can't possibly understand why microsoft would try to do the same thing. Oh yeah, we purchased way more systems than you guys. I'm pretty sure that helped with the price.

Well, cost of living differences fair enough. Well... not really cost... everything's cheaper in America. The difference is the wages people get is lower, and that's what balances it. But still man, the cost of our PS4 is more than what you guys would pay for an Xbone. Freakin joke. PS4's 350 pounds is just too much. MS asking for 430 is beyond ridiculous though. It doesn't really matter anyways, by the time I can afford to spare any kind of money, I'll be able to buy a second hand PS4 for like 250 pounds. Which is fine.

The best part of all of this, is that PC is now superior in every way, even when it comes to pricing. At present, you can build a computer that is better than what the consoles boast, for less money. At any rate, EA won E3 because DICE announced a new Mirror's Edge. Fuck consoles I guess.

Auron: Yeah I suppose. I guess I just got used to the price drop over the years. Marvo: PC is superior, no doubt. But there's still a place in my heart for consoles. I don't even know what it is; nostalgia? ease/laziness of use? I dunno, but when something comes of Steam Box, the other consoles should run away and cry. Also, about E3, I'd just like to say that, beyond all the flaming, I actually really liked the look of the games on both systems. If I was rich, I'd be getting PS4, Xbone, and a badass gaming PC. The shots fired at Microsoft last night was pretty funny, and I'm relieved because I was thinking that if the Xbox One had all this DRM crap, why wouldn't their main competitor do something simliar? Nope. Not going to happen, and for $100 cheaper. Yet, some people are still defending the Tbox but whatever. The only thing that bothered me is that I think now you have to be a PS+ member to play online. I'm already a member, but it was nice to have that option. Oh well. What's the most exciting thing that has been announced about either console? Nothing that a PC can't already do, since if that's what you're looking to hear. Other than that, for me: - The independent developer support, so that we aren't just playing the AAA games that have been all the rage (yet pretty uninspired), over the past few years. - The advanced graphics that, out of the gate, pave the way for even better-looking performances on the consoles in the near future. - Cross-game chat. - 64-player Battlefield 4 which was, before this time, only possible on PC, offering a glimpse into how other games might be affected by the increase in power as well. To a console gamer, this all pretty big news. These next-gen consoles will be pretty fairly matched with most beefy gaming PC's, nowadays. Of course, PC is going to get the jump on the next generation - as it normally does - but that only matters to PC gamers, and as you probably know, console gamers aren't really trying to compete with PC gamers. Our motivations and biases are usually different, when it comes to convenience and functionality, but since your question really reads like "what can it do that PC's can't do, already? How do any of these change the whole of the gaming community?" I will give you the satisfaction of stating that neither console (obviously) has done something completely OMFGUNHEARDOF for the gaming industry as a whole. But again, it's all relative. -

Also, Auron, I believe the 'PS+ required for online' is true. It's even in the fine print at the bottom of that "How to Trade with Friends" video. However, I see it like this: PSNetwork on the PS3, for free, was a Godsend. I honestly don't think any of us really expected that, after MS having already set the precedence with paid service. The cost of PS+ comes down to about $5 per month, and includes 3-4 free games per month, plus a(n allegedly) large catalog of 'backward-compatibility' PS1-PS3 games. The have shown they PS is going to be putting more thought into even their single-player game campaigns, but at $5 per month, plus all the exclusive/advanced content that was already coming to PS+ members, I know I definitely won't mind - especially considering the mandatory fee for online service is going to still be less than that of XBox live, but with more content.

That was almost me. I've been waiting for FF versus since forever. Yeah, me as well. The preview for it looked sick! I'm a big FF fan anyway. I finally got around to playing FFXIII all the way through several months ago and its now one of my favorite FF out there (top 5 anyway). I still haven't got around to playing FFXIII-2 yet, but I want to play through it before Lightning Returns comes out. Pretty much Square Enix took the show for me. Of course, FFXV is going to be nasty. I'm sure I'll dabble in FFXIV as well. Of course, I'll be playing CoD:Ghosts online in unhealthy amounts, but I'm not any more psyched for it than I have been any other CoD. Its not as much of a hype train in my eyes because they come out every year and I doubt they will every meet my dream shooter ideals anyway. One of those things where I do it because I'm too good at it not to. Everyone has one of those hobbies/activities I suppose. CoD is mine. As far as the $5 per month, I'm actually glad for that. As a heavy gamer in the online shooter genre, I'll gladly pay for better service that benefits stability as far as servers and matches are concerned. The less I die from BS, the less $$$ I have to dish out to replace broken controllers, mics, phones, and other objects in my general vicinity. Believe it or not, it'll save me money in the long run, lol. Not saying the BS will be gone, but better server quality and function can only help.

I liked PS3 as a console more, but I did like some of the X1 games. Such as Titanfall and Project Spark, I'm hoping to get both, but that all depends on actual reviews and price drops

Not meaning to jump down your throat, if that's not where you were going with it, but it wasn't exactly unjustified. You really can't reserve yourself the luxury of being a smart-ass, whenever you feel like it, and then complaining when others do it to you. We're all friends here, though. They did give quite a few indies center-stage at the expo, and allowed them to come up and showcase their games to the crowds. Some pretty interesting looking ones, so far, but nothing that I was Completely blown away by, as of yet. The word is that Sony is being really respectful of indies, though. So many of my favourite games come from indie teams with a great idea breaking out. Facilitating that (especially combined with the emerging Kickstarter culture) could really change what this generation looks like... like you say, the AAAs are quickly becoming dull. If that path represents the future of gaming, I'm not interested.

It's a third person shooter/action RPG created by the people that made Kingdom Hearts. So basically it's not going to be like any FF before it. Due to the fact that it's not a KH game, they get to use more adult themes. I don't know why, but I have a feeling they're going to take it back to the older FF's when the story dealt with suicide, forbidden love and all that jazz. Basically it's my last hope for my favorite series. FF stopped being FF when X came out. And then it stopped begin good when XII came out. Obviously this is my opinion, but I think they alienated their older original fans by doing so. Oh also, the Xbox One has the capability to be played in multiple rooms at the same time (or so that's what I got out of the information). This is pretty awesome from a big gaming family standpoint. You'll buy a system for 399, and pay an extra 300 over five years to have a more stable online experience. You just bought a 700 dollar system. Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't seem to make any sense when you can buy a computer that does the same thing. There were two reasons why I was almost always a console gamer. The first was exclusives. You couldn't play games like FF, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Mario Bros on a PC. Now either you can, or the series I was referring to has gotten stale. The second one is price. See the mentioned 700 dollar console scenario above. There was a time you could buy a console, or save up an extra 100 dollars and get a video card. Now it's get a console, or get a computer. The problem with the "get a console" scenario is that half of the money you're paying for isn't going into processing power, storage, hell even a better case. It's going into a 'better online experience'. That's like paying 300 bucks for an Ethernet adapter. If people are willing to pay for anything, then businesses will be willing to charge for it. Fuck PSN, FUCK live, and while we're at it, fuck online gaming for ruining my arcades!
