      Arrested Development

The most hilarious show on television, bar none. The only thing I watch anymore, shame it was canceled. Won several Emmies, was declared the most brilliant show of all time by every critic who laid eyes upon it, but unfortunately Fox's audience didn't care for it. Three season run of pure genius though, I guarantee that after you get into it you'll burst out laughing every minute or so.

      Anyone else watch it?
Now this is the day you fall upon my waking eyes, Inviting and inciting me to rise, And through the window in the wall, Comes streaming in on sunlight wings, A million bright ambassadors of morning...
And no one sings me lullabies, And no one makes me close my eyes, And so I throw the windows wide ,And call to you across the sky...

Yeah, my wife and I followed this religiously when it was running. The last half of the last season really took a turn for the worse, I think, but by then, they knew they had been cancelled, and were starting to make fun of that fact in the show itself.

There was so much subtle humor in that show, that I'm sure a lot of it went way over the heads of the typical viewer.

Definitely did, I showed it to two of my friends who are kind of casualties of American TV, so a bit slow to pick up on anything that isn't immediately funny and they thought it was total garbage, until I forced them to sit through four episodes and then they were like "Oh, that's why its funny" and now its their favorite show.

But did you really think the last half of the season went bad? I don't know, admittedly the last two seasons had jokes that were a bit cheaper than the first.. but after I watched them a second time around I notice

If you haven't already, you should try giving all the episodes another watch, or six. There is so much subtlety packed into every scene that it takes a lot of viewings and concentration to take it all in. I've seen them all to the point where I've had consecutive nights of dreaming about the characters before(which is very, very sad, I know) and I've still got a lot left to notice.

One of the things that kept me tuned in was David Cross, who I think is the funniest man alive. If you don't already know it, you absolutely MUST check out his old HBO show with Bob Odenkirk called Mr. Show. There were three seasons of it, and there is nothing that can touch it for cerebral humor and just plain out-loud laughing. The first two seasons especially were by far the funniest shows to ever air in my opinion.

In the process of getting the first season, I love David Cross. He's really intelligent and his standup's great, and Tobias was the best character in television history.

Excellent! You won't regret the purchase. I suspect that you'll be hooked by the time you're 5 minutes in. The "Change for a Dollar" Skit in episode one has got to be one of the silliest bits of nonsense ever.

Lots of great comedians came out of Mr. Show (besides Bob and David, of course). Jack Black (5 years pre-"High-Fidelity), Laura Kightlinger, Sara Silverman, Tom Kenny (Voice of Spongebob), Brian Posehn ("Just Shoot Me"), and more. These guys were all writers and collaborators on the Ben Stiller Show (also very funny), and wanted to keep collaborating after that show folded.

Skating with celebrities proves that most of America is stupid, this just proves that America has no attention span... even stupid people think its funny when they give it a chance.

I remember back watching the very first episode of AD with my wife. At the end we looked at each other and said "This show is too smart. It won't last a season." I think it was only renewed because of a great grassroots movement to petition the network to pick it up for another season.

When it was running, I'd always see the commercials for it and stuff but never felt persuaded to watch. Then I actually sat down not too long ago and watched one of the first episodes... needless to say I fell in love.

"I've got a nice hard cot with his name on it."
"You would do that to your brother?
      "I said "cot".

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,

It really is quite a sad commentary on the human race when shows of this calibre are canceled, yet here we are with Survivor 489256: Survivor in Space Now With 37% More Washed up Celebrities!!!
