Principally replayability. If you exit, it saves your character and you can continue where you left off. But if you die, that's it. It deletes all your saves and your character is no more than a record sheet and a high score. It imbues the game with a deep vein of tension and strategy that is unique to games of this type. And with a vast, vast array of diverse and fun character builds available, random levels, and deep game mechanics, trying to outdo your last (dead) character is just as fun as winning the game (which is very hard to do). For a game to manage making losing fun is testament to its quality. I'm a big fan of it and I have no shame in saying I have never won it (nor come remotely near), despite hundreds of hours involved in it.
The graphics are, well, non-existent, the story is, well, non-existent and the sound, well... you get the idea. But the game is seriously fun.
