      Comics?

Who here is into comics? I've been reading comics for a while now. Whose your favorite company? Marvel or DC? Whose your favorite comic book character? I'd like to hear from some comic fans.

I was into comics maybe 12-13 years ago, and I mostly didn't stick to the Marvel/DC scene. I was into Image comics, actually. Spawn, Pitt, Cyberforce, Wildcats, Savage Dragon, Shadowhawk, Maxx... ah, just listing those names brings back some memories.

I don't read a lot of Western comics, but I'm into manga. I'm reading Death Note right now.

      You've got good taste.
I was mostly into Image, also. Spawn is my favorite comic book character (I've still got issues #1 through a-hundred-something in my garage). Maxx was an awesome(ly twisted) comic - the cartoon was pretty cool, too. Aside from Image, I was into a bit of Marvel. Never really branched out much further than the X-Men, but that was definitely enough.

I'd like to buy some comics that I've heard of, but my dad has all the comic knowledge I'll ever need. It's like he went to a school just about comics.

And about manga, It's great and all (though I prefer Anime since It moves), but comics are great too. I mean, without comics, there would be no manga, really...

Anime is great because it moves, but Manga's tend to have a better story line to it.

Take Negima for example. I've read the first 4 books of it and at about the 3rd book or so Negi gets this little ferret thing that can talk.
In the anime, on the first episode, Negi already has the ferret thing and the main girl finds out Negi's a mage a different way then the manga.

I'm pretty well read as far as comics go. Marvel is probably the publisher I have given the most money to over the years, but they're all good.

My top five series ever are probably:

      Y: The Last Man
      The Goon
      Invincible
      Scott Pilgrim
      Tom Strong

I've spent an exorbitant amount of money on comics in the past, but I haven't bought anything new in almost a year.

I used to read Spiderman back in the day, and earlier than that, Tintin. However, I read a lot of manga nowadays (and watch some anime, I shifted away from that recently... at least with manga, I read at my own pace). Some of my favourite mangas include Great Teacher Onizuka and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou... though I have read a lot more and keeping up to date with quite a few series.

ETA: I also read a lot of webcomics... xkcd is one of my favourites

I tend to like manga (and anime, but not usually as much), but only really read a few american comics aside from webcomics. I read a lot of webcomics. I doubt I could list them all before timing out of the forum (if this forum times you out after being on a page too long)

I used to really be into comics, both Marvel and DC, but I think I'd have to give the edge to Marvel.

One of my all time favorites was Jonah Hex, a cowboy with a fubared face from a beating his father gave him. Not the really old western ones, but the one where he was in the future.

I was all so a big fan of Groo the Wanderer and Ralph Snart Adventures.

And I also used to enjoy those old horror comics from the 70's.

Other stuff I've read and really enjoyed:

      - Preacher (amazing series - I have all the TPBs for it)
      - Gunnm (in French - americans suck at translating manga, plus it's way more expensive)
      - Yu Yu Hakusho (in French, again - the manga is really really good)

I just ordered a copy of Watchmen - gotta refresh my memory in time for the movie.

I'm a huge fan of both western and eastern comics. Manga is on the top, with korean and american on second. I believe that Japanese stuff is generally more consistent (one story, same authors during the entire run) than american superhero comics, but they also do lack the political aspects or any hint of sarcasm/irony/satire.

Top three mangas i adore would be 20th Century Boys, Monster and Berserk.
In western stuff I would choose V for Vendetta, Deadpool and Hellboy, I guess.
Korean stuff would be... Ares, I guess? Haven't read too many. Yet.

So, I guess, yes. I like comics. Favorite character would be... Shared between Guts and Griffith from Berserk. Extremely deep character development, both in personality and in relationship between them. Non-manga would probably be Deadpool.
