      Exclamation Console Wars!!

Cause it needed its own thread.

      Whats you're favourite console?
      Why?

Keep flaming to a minimum but feel free to critizise any of the other consoles at your leisure!

      Sega Dreamcast.

Because of Shenmue, Soul Caliber, Grandia II and RE: Code Veronica mainy. I also love the sound it makes.

      That and...

PS2... Reasons should be obvious. I like RPGs

You make it sound like a love affair. Anywho as PC's aren't offically a console I'll have to put down

      PS3

as my favourite console, simply cause I can watch my HD videos, play online for free, and also buy something that isn't Microsoft branded.

Personally I like to look at games in and of themselves over the negative or positive connotation that a console has.

I love the MGS series, for example, and final fantasies. I also love a great deal of games available on the 360. I don't think Sony, being the cocky "let's force blue-ray on everyone" company that they are, is anymore rightous than microsoft's uber monopoly, quash small business mentality.

My point is console wars-- 360 and sony "fanboys'-- is pointless. Essentially it just says one doesn't have enough money to buy the other system.

      Hmm...

I suppose we can't count the PC as a console...

So I guess I'd go with PS2 because they have some sweet games for it, like Shadow of the Colossus...

Super Nintendo or PS2 can't decide.. They are both great systems with plenty of variety. From the next gen systems I'd have to say Wii just because it's a fun console to pick up, play, and then walk away. I love video games, but now that I'm older and have tons of obligations I can't play for hours on end like I used to.

My old Sega Mega Drive kicks the ass of your "modern" anti-cartridge wannabe-consoles.

No love for N64? Some of my most cherished video game memories took place on that system. Banjo Kazooie, Mario 64, Jet Force Gemini, BattleZone, Banjo Tooie, Diddy Kong Racing, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Harvest Moon 64, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, the list goes on an on.

This kind of thread is bound to stir up a fight

I like the Xbox 360 right now and for shooters it does better than the PS3 control-wise.

A lot of the titles I will end up getting will be cross-platform though.

      Fable 2
      Gears of War 2
      Far Cry 2
Call of Duty: World At War
      Mirrors Edge
      Final Fantasy XIII

P.S. you would have to be pretty worthless to bash a console.

      Any of the PS's, PS1, 2, 3.

      PS3:
      Blu-ray

      No ring of death

      Free online

Basically the same games, the games that aren't on it aren't that overly amazing I don't think.

OMG, that is my favourite game of all time. I never made it past the ice level though I don't know anyone who actually finished that game, it was probably the hardest game ever made.

Fable 2 is amazing, so have a ball without it. Gears Of War is another pretty good game.

And FPS wise, the controlling is much better than the PS3's, which is one of the main reasons I got the 360.

I miss the Playstation 1. So many novelty/artistic/weird/out-their games you just never see anymore. I haven't seen 1 novelty game come out in...3 years?!

Ahh the ice level, that was usually when homicidal thoughts of me smashing the NES came flooding in.

How so? They're nearly identical controller wise, just the PS3's are a lot less bulky.

There's actually been a lot of really odd games coming out for it, even if they're just like the cheap 10-15 dollar ones you buy online. Such as Pixel Junk monsters, and various others I don't recall the name of because I don't have a credit card. It's like a completely different style of gaming, it's odd to see, but also intriguing to see something different from your generic FPS or whatever.

Edit: Oh, and yeah. Fable 2 is pretty much the only reason that I want a 360. I loved the first Fable, and the second one looks even more kickass. Hope it comes to PC sooner or later.

word dawg. The joysticks are further apart on the 360 and at opposite sides, its surprisingly useful. You will see one day. All you got to do is A/B COD between the two systems and you will see what I am talking about. But PS3 controllers I find much more useful for platforming games unless it reacquires you to use the FPS angle too often

The bulky factor also helps out in some situations (like pistol whipping someone. lol, jk)

      Amazing library of games.

      Current-Gen system?

Gotta be the 360. And I'm buying myself a Playstation 3 this holiday.
You do this every fucking time.

I play 360 at my some of my buds houses, and I really don't notice the difference to the controllers. The 360's buttons confuse me a little more, but that's just because I'm not used to them. They're both honestly great systems, I just like the exclusives that come on PS3, and the variety of other things I can do it on like web-browsing, downloading movies and TV shows, media sharing, music, and free online. I do wish I had a 360 to play Fable 2 though, but my friends going to loan me his when he beats it anyway.

I still can't believe no one is mentioning anything about the N64, I thought that was the greatest system of all time.... I still tried to play mine, but it burnt out a couple months back....

On overall fun, I'd have to put N64 at the top. I played Goldeneye, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Bomberman 64, Perfect Dark, Super Smash Brothers, and Blast Corps endlessly with friends or by myself. As for my favorite console in terms of my favorite games, I'd choose ps1. Xenogears, FF7, FF9, and Chrono Cross will always have a special place in my heart.

My Xbox 360 and Nintendo 64 is tied for me. The Xbox has great graphics and really fun rpg (enchanted arms), and first person shooters (halo 3) games, but the addiction factor on Nintendo games was through the roof, as was how memorable they were.

"What are you, a gangster? Get in that pool!"-Random DC of mine... don't ask.

N64 games that never got old:

      Turok
      Turok 2
      Mario 64
      Banjo Kazooi
      Golden Eye
      Gex
      Mario Kart

more weird games like Gex need to be made.

      In order:

Sega dreamcast - Discs always break, even when you take care of them really well

PS3 - HAHAHAHAHAHA. No actually it's pretty fun, just a more expensive, less efficient, bulkier rip off of the 360 and wii.

360 - All I really hate about it is the marketing techniques, and whole xbox fanclub are like a bunch of Raiders football fans, ready to just pounce anybody that talks shit

Wii - Completely awesome until you want to watch a DVD, also FPSs are impossible, though I heard Metro Prime worked okay.

PS2 - Yeah, Shadows of Collosus is pretty cool

Sega Mega Drive - You wish you had an atari, that's all I gotta say

SNES - Doo doot doo dadum dum dada daDUNT da dun dun dananana, doo doot doo

NES - Also wishes it was an atari

N64 - Had a completely useless handle... wtf? Also Turok 1 & 2, Mario 64, Banjo Kazooi, Golden Eye (haven't played gex much) and Mario Kart have all gotten old. Super smash brothers still kicks ass, though.

I like the atari because saying it's my favorite system despite all the better technology and gaming available today makes me feel hip and old skool.

I think you're thinking of the game cube. I recall using the handle a fair amount actually.
