I loved broodwar, I wasted a really huge portion of my life on that. |

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
The first Starcraft was and still is my favourite game of all time, so you can imagine just how excited I've been since the day they announced the second one. I really cannot wait, and it's driving me nuts how there's been no announcement of a release date. I even watched the play-by-play video of two people in a skirmish, which I would never do for any other game, and I was excited the whole way through. |
|
I didn't play the first one until later, thought I hear it is still popular. I'm not a fan of the RTS community/competitive scene sometimes, but I like well made, balanced RTS games and their artwork and so am looking forward to this. |

I spent most of my younger life on starcraft, playing or making maps. |

3 MORE DAYS! I really don't have the discretionary funds atm, but I suspect I will break down and buy the game. Hopefully they will have a downloadable version, as my optical drive is defunct. |

If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

Did they ever make the call to put back LAN functionality? I suppose you could still have a LAN party, just sharing the host's bandwidth to connect to Battlenet |

Admittedly I've never played the original SC. It looks like I'm missing out... |

I never lagged on battlenet here in the US either...but the whole point of lan was to be able to play without internet. What if my internet goes out and my friends and I still want to play? looks like we're sol cause blizzard had to be stupid. |

You will be able to play offline by loading credentials onto your computer, much like Steam. There won't be LAN support, of course, but you will be able to play SP and against AI, I believe. |

It's a classic case of a media company opting to hobble their product and alienate paying customers on account of pirate hysteria. Of course, it's always a matter of how badly you want what they have, and in this case they're confident they have our nuts in a vise. And they're right |

You know, compared to some of the DRM disasters you see in different games, I'd say that SC2 are one of the better ones. While it does suck, it will probably finally encourage LAN hosts to put some thought into their network setup, instead of just hammering up something cheap that won't hold 100 people connected to the internet at the same time. |
